Title: If MU leaves do you guys think that Gonzaga would be a good replacement
Post by: pissclams on February 12, 2010, 10:06:28 AM
i would think they would be interested in joining up with the big boys because they are pretty decent themselves and I think that the conference like the big 12 would be willing to talk to them and see if they were up for the challenge what do you guys think?  would be great to get a good team into the big 12 like the zags even maybe talk to fresno state, thoughts?

Only if Stockton agrees to visit the 'Gon.  Otherwise, no deal.

Plus, we arleady own the 'Zags in the 'Gon.  Own.

Of course not.  But Nova, Marquette, Seaton Hall, and Providence own the Big East on the gridiron.  Unfortunately St. Johns and DePaul really struggle, they'll never have a shot at a BCS Bowl bid.

Gonzaga's rivalry with Portland is one of the biggest in the country. Probably have to try to rope them in as well.

1 Gonzaga has no football team because its expensive compared to b-ball.
2 Lots of teams are D-1 in b-ball but not f-ball. Like 4 times as many.
3 Gonzaga would be a good fit competition wise
4 Gonzaga would not be a good fit because they are a west coast team and that would wreak havoc on time schedules.
5 Gonzaga would not be a good fit because their budgets for travel would be ridiculous compared to every other school in the conference.  If they wanted to spend that kind of money, they'd get a football team.

Hot Mormon chicks frustrated with their overprotective parents and uberconservative school sneak off to the bars the night before the big game and run into a group of EMAWers....

I think the Big 12 would look for schools that can be competitive in more than just one sport. The Zags have a great basketball team, but the absence of a football team would affect their running for a Big 12 spot imo.

TCU, Boise St, BYU, Notre Dame would be awesome candidates..

Boise St? Their program doesnt even compare to the zags. How many E8's have the bronco's made it too? S16's? The big beast seems to do alright with basetball only schools.

I would lose it and shoot a few coworkers if the Big 12 adds another TX school.

Also, ND is both laughing at you and shamed that they were mentioned as an option to join the Big 12.

does boise st even have a basketball team?  i think at this point not having a basketball team is more of detriment than not having a football team.  ksu and ku are allowed in the big 12.  why exclude the zags?

Although I am a BB fan, as far as the members of the Conf are concerned, FB=$.  $=better conf.

Whoever may enter the Big 12, they will either have a solid FB team, or have made some sort of a commitment to getting their FB team upgraded.

Yeeeeaaa Notre Dame is a little far-fetched..
Boise's basketball team would finish dead last in the Big 12, no doubt about it. They probably would not win a game. However, their football team would compete with the Big 12 powers.

Same with TCU. You think the networks would pay money to air TCU-TX/OU/OSU football games? I think so

In other news, did anyone else rofl when Mitch suggested school would be cancelled because Colon got back to back baskets?
