Title: On this championship weekend...
Post by: slimz on December 04, 2010, 05:14:36 PM
...I find myself wondering if anything will ever ease the pain of what happened 12 years ago.  2003 helped, but still.  The only thing that maintained sanity at the time was the thought that K-State had arrived and was going to be in the hunt year-in and year-out.  Now that that's clearly not been the case for the better part of a decade, the memories seem all the more painful.

Have to wonder if that also doesn't contribute toward the negativity regarding OB's effort the last couple of years.  Kind of tough to accept that we blew what may be our only shot at a national championship. Maybe Patterson wouldn't have done it at K-State, but watching TCU at #3 and in the hunt that we used to be in doesn't help.

I enjoy cheering for other people's downfall.  They can't hurt us today.  We are safe and sound tucked in at home.

Every so often, I drag out my tape of that game and watch the 4th quarter, just to convince myself it really happened.  It's like listening to that song that reminds you of the one girl who chewed up your heart 12 years ago.  Lightening in the bottle, and Bishop dropped the cork to hold it in before regulation ran out.

Don't really get the Patterson inclusion, TCU will not be playing for a MNC this year either.  :dunno:

^This.  Stop bringing it up in public.  Some of us like to not think about it if we can help it.
