Title: weird crap you've heard (which may or may not be true)
Post by: jtksu on November 30, 2010, 08:59:46 PM
If you pour hot water in the icecube trays it will freeze faster.
Hitler only had one testicle and regularly took injections of crushed up bull's testicle.
Pouring a bit of oil in with the pasta will keep it from boiling over.
When you get shot for the first time, your body doesn't recognize that particular pain and will go into shock, effectively making it almost painless.
If you sleep in a room with no open windows or doors and you have a fan running, it can suffocate you.  (Koreans are big into this theory.)
Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal.

If you cut the top of a pizza box and add foil, you can make s'mores in the pizza box simply by placing it in the sun.

If you pour hot water in the icecube trays it will freeze faster. depends on the gas content of the water
Hitler only had one testicle and regularly took injections of crushed up bull's testicle. uniball - unconfirmed, but more than likely true, don't know about the injections
Pouring a bit of oil in with the pasta will keep it from boiling over. true
When you get shot for the first time, your body doesn't recognize that particular pain and will go into shock, effectively making it almost painless.  eff no

Ron Prince dressed down Tim McCarty in front of all the offensive lineman, then ordered him to lie on his back. McCarty followed orders and stayed on the ground for several minutes while practice continued.

I still laugh thinking about this story, even though it "may or may not be true."

It's no open windows or doors.  Something about air movement in a (near) vacuum.  Pretty sure it's not true cause I do it all the time.  Saw something on TV about Koreans being totally against this, like I think it might actually be illegal or something over there.

I have heard that the 80% rule is flawed because it was based off of infants, who's heads are larger in proportion to their body at that age than they are as an adult.

When you get shot for the first time, your body doesn't recognize that particular pain and will go into shock, effectively making it almost painless.

FALSE

If you died in your house, a pet cat would eat your dead body, starting with your soft eyeballs, for sustenance, a dog would stay by your corpse until it also died. (i'm pretty sure that's completely horseshit, but it worked when a "Let's get a cat instead of a dog" discussion came up the last time)

this isn't true.  you can do a quick expt. to confirm for yourself.  lock your dog in a closet for 3 minutes.  let him out and observe his reaction.  now, repeat, but leave him in for 3 days.  note the different reaction.

without bees, we will be fully mumped within 5yrs

This is 100% true.

Cell phone signals are responsible for the decline of the honey bee population

This is probably not.

Supposedly, one can make homemade LSD by simply allowing toothpaste to sun-dry on orange peels and afterwards consuming the paste.

Didn't think this deserved a new thread but it is some weird crap

On "Conan" Thursday, Kourtney said Kim is "horrified" by her and their sister Khloe. The reason? Her sisters once said on their E! reality show that they put mayo on their private parts.

"Talking about putting mayonnaise on your thing is not appropriate advice," she told them.

Khloe then chimed in, "Honestly, women need to know how to take care of their stuff."

Kourtney then added, "People asked us, 'What does mayonnaise on your vagina do? And we said it makes it shine like the top of the Chrysler Building. And people were like, 'Why would you want a shiny vagina anyways?"

Once, there was a student/young assistant coach at a large Midwestern state school who did a bunch of coke, slept with a bunch of administrators' and boosters' wives, chucked a quarter at the in-state rival's basketball team (hitting the coach or one of the players), and committed some other act so heinous that he will be arrested if he ever returns to town (except, evidently, for a game with his current team) and will never, ever, ever, work in this school's town again, because the act was "unforgiveable."

And that's why all the tards saying Jim Leavitt will be the D-Coordinator next year are full of crap.

That Walter Payton was going to be a Wildcat. (I think it's WP, not 100% sure, but it was a HOF RB).

That Gilbert Arenas was going to be a Wildcat.

:surprised:

Tiger Woods comes to MHK a few times each year to visit the burial site of his father, Earl Woods.

When the tiger cheating stuff came out fatty posted something like, "Earl must be rolling over in his Sunset Cemetery grave".  Amazing posting right there.

Gary Patterson did, in fact, strongly consider coming to Kansas State.

My Boss is a bro with Gary's Brother and confirms this  :frown:

Says he will retire or get fired from there now that they are in the B12.

can confirm.  My old coworker was Gary's best man in his first wedding, said he was planning on coming home.

Was in booster buddy's suite for the NU game when his dad called (big donor on the coaching search committee) and said numbnuts had just told everyone in the AD that he'd asked Bill to come back and he had agreed and that regardless of the committees coaching search, Bill was the hire.  Soon after Bill was announced.

The heat from your head thing does consider the heat lost through respiration.  That's a good amount of it.

I was hoping TCU would stay out in the Big East and ripoff titles so Patterson could slip away easier when the time came.

Somebody get him an NFL gig so he can comeback to the college ranks when Bill retires/dies.
