It's pretty engaging. They details are what makes it so fascinating. I found myself googling people and events while reading the story. Auburn wants to remain relevant in the SEC and in football in general so bad they are willing to do almost anything to win. And they have to too, they have the 3rd smallest endowment in the SEC, not to mention they share a state with Alabama. It may be long but it is a great read.
-
Very fascinating read. Quick question: What year is Auburn supposed to return a game to us in Manhattan or are they going to at all at this point?
-
Wow, this goes way beyond football. This corruption runs deep.
-
Holy crap....Cam is only a small part of what's going on there.
-
SEC football is football is so much fun . . . like I've said before I've listened to Paul Finebaum's show during regular stretches over the last 7 or 8 years. Other conferences are absolutely  in comparison.

Such things include guaranteed winning slot machines for AU players at Milt’s (Colonial Board member, AU Booster) Casino, unmarked ATM cards issued to AU players from Colonial Bank (Bobby Lowder-AU Board Member and Booster; Pat Dye-Colonial Board member, AU employee and Booster),
:surprised:
This also explains why the AU President wanted to sit Cam last Saturday, but was overridden by Lowder, Dye, Jacobs, Rane and McGregor
Damn, I wish we would have had a couple boosters in 2005/2008 with the power to override our President.

Auburn is going to get the death penalty. No chance that they survive this.
-
rough ridin' love Auburn for crap like this.
-
sigh.... crap like this is what almost lost Auburn its accreditation. Goddamn Bobby Lowder, that meddling old man is still rough ridin' crap up. Now maybe you guys can see why the Tommy Tuberville fiasco occurred.

Tubs has blood on his hands!!!!!!

plus
 at trusting an LSU message board for factual information on Auburn. That's like finding true facts about K-State on the Phog.

All true . . . all.

A caller to Finebaum is remembering a quote from Pat Dye, when the NCAA was investigating Alabama a few years ago, "$200,000?? That's quarterback money . . ."
-
I lol'd at "New Hampshire mafia". Sucked me in to read later.

If that article is 90% true, then they will be kicked out of the SEC and may lose their accredidation. :surprised:

Just after this hit the wires, RollTideTA of TideSports.com posts an e-mail he received from someone “in the know”. The e-mail contained the following:
“…The Feds have tape from wire taps made on McGregor and other prominent Auburn boosters from their investigation. The Newton's were just shopping their talent's to the wrong people at the wrong time and thus there is hard evidence available that incriminates everyone involved. It's only a matter of time that all of this information becomes public.
i WANT them to play Cam this year and win the NC> I'm pulling for this to happen so it will all come crashing down.
:horrorsurprise:

McGregor is currently out on $500,000 bail and today asked federal judge Terry Moorer for a 72-hour pass to Arizona to attend Auburn’s BCS Championship Game against Oregon on January 10.
The Auburn booster’s request was promptly granted.
So while McGregor has denied any involvement in providing financial enticements to Auburn athletes over the years, news of the FBI’s interest in the Cam Newton situation and McGregor’s well-publicized request to associate himself with Auburn’s crowning football achievement does little to diminish the suspicion that the FBI could soon weigh in on the state of Auburn athletics.
