Didn't he play well in the McD AA game?  Maybe he's only good when no one plays defense.

He didn't play, he was injured.

There goes that theory.   :dunno:

He needs to look for his dunk shot more.

Everyone's going to say this tonight, and it's pretty well deserved, but I think the main problem is Wally just has no idea what to do against zones.

Yeah, he mumped up his back during practice for that game.  Supposedly the back sugery fixed the lingering issues from that but he still looks uncomfortable as hell out there.  He always looks like he could really use a hug.  Wally-  I'm here for you bro.  If you ever need a shoulder to cry on or maybe just someone talk to, I'm your man.

Well, he made that one nice hi-low pass.   :dunno:

So I didn't think he was altogether crappity today. Sure, he should have flushed that point blank layup he missed, but overall I was satisfied. No JHR mind you.

If Wally and Freddy both hit all those easy buckets, they would be a nice combo.

he had a really good pass to JHR from the high post. I fist pumped.

He knocked down a nice jumper from the short corner in the first half I believe.  If he can average like 10 and 8 a night that would be awesome.  With his athleticism he can get about 4 or more off of put backs and should at least get a dunk or two trailing in transition plus maybe hit one out of three jumpers.  Didn't seem to commit any WTF type fouls tonight either.

If only he could give up half his adorableness and be a half decent basketball player.

He is still adorable, I guess.

He plays like a puppy dog. Not very dobercat, yet. Someone needs to piss him of before gametime. I think a motivated, gtfoomw Wally benefits us. Maybe year three this hits him. Hopefully.

It doesn't make any sense how often he misses two footers.

I expected a much stronger physical presence out of him this year.  It's early, but he played like an estroballer on the block.  If we were told the Jamar eye story about being paranoid, only without a name attached, I would have guessed it was Wally.

This is good and makes me hopeful.  I mean he can't get any pussier, can he?

Non affiliated big time college basketball fan at bar after Wally nearly broke the backboard from 4 feet, "that guy was a McDonald's All-American"??  (note, not at BWW).

lets hope so, or frank might have to sit wally for the gonzaga game and we'll have another stupid ten page thread about how it could cost us our current top five ranking. i mean dear god.

Judge and Asprilla both look like they are playing way too fast.  Might have to do with practicing against Samuels who plays like a crazed spider monkey (not racist.)

Judge and Asprilla are not spider monkeys.  It's just a matter of time for both.

Judge is fine.

When was the last time you saw a big in college who was soft as a sophomore but grew balls by his senior year?

I'll answer for you, somewhere between extremely rare and never.  Toughness and killer instinct is something that comes early if you have it.  Someone cannot make you tougher by yelling at you or just wanting really badly for you to nut up.  Wally will become a better player, he will never be a JYC.

Forget shooting, Wally. You're good at dunking, that's what you should do. It's worked for Quincy Acy.

I don't think "soft" is a very good way to describe him.  He's pretty JYC-ish everywhere except for offense around the rim, and there's been ton of college bigs who struggled finishing around the rim as sophomores and improved.

WAITAMINUTE.
