Kansas State University is known for two things: a top ten basketball team, and now the nutty professor.

Mark Haub says he doesn't mind being called nutty since he loves his nutty bars and junk food, lots of junk food.

And while you can call him nutty, do not call him crazy.  He's quite serious about the junk food diet. After all he lost 30 pounds eating this stuff,  and the attention has gone viral.

He's been on TV and online, talking about eating junk in moderation.

"I've talked to people from Ireland, Norway, India, it's been a global experience," said Haub.

The key is carefully counting calories and keeping track to make sure he's not overeating.

Remember he lost all the weight with moderation. So it's OK to eat fatty fast food, if you count calories.

"I work at a restaurant so I just kind of eat when I get there. And I eat when I leave," said student Lilly Castro.

That's fine as long as you limit total calories.

So what's the future of the junk food diet?  With his success and all the media attention Haub is not ruling out a book deal.

"Ah... That's been discussed. Not formally working on anything at this point," he said.

It's important to point out that Dr. Haub drank a protein shake every day,  ate vegetables and took a daily multivitamin to stay healthy. Still, even he doesn't recommend following the diet long-term for weight loss.

Dr. Haub says it all began as a class project to come up with unconventional ways to lose weight.  He limited himself to 1800 calories a day.

Most people around here call(ed) him a shitty poster, not nutty.  Although he's either been rarely posting or has gotten better.

Also, wtf?  I had to solo pak at "Fox Sports Grille" downtown friday night.

Dr Haub is a rough ridin' embarrassment.  His junkfood diet is his excuse for being fat and lazy.

I'm listening to a replay of a Howard Stern show from last week.  They just talked about the story and since Robin is a health freak it didn't go over well.

It ended up with something like this:

Howard:  What school was that again?
Robin: Kansas State University
Howard:  That must be a shitty school

the diet is a joke (it's not sustainable), but it could have been a revolutionary diet and they would still say that.

we are kansas state.

I don't know a ton about it and didn't read the article, but listening to the interview with him it sounds like it wasn't really supposed to be a diet.  Just an example to show that no matter what you eat, limiting your calories is a sure fire way to lose weight.
