i think since there are two bowls in texas...if baylor slides and doesn't win anymore and a&M gets to 7 wins, those two would get the texas bowls and we'd get sent out to elite new york.

Following is the Big 12's selection order:
BCS - Tostitos Fiesta
AT&T Cotton (SEC)
Valero Alamo (Pac-10)
Insight (Big Ten)
Bridgepoint Holiday (Pac-10)
Texas (Big Ten)
New Era Pinstripe (Big East)
Dallas Football Classic/Eagle Bank (Big Ten/ACC)

also, there are 8 spots....right now, there are 7 "bowl eligible" teams, and 2 other teams are at 5 wins.  :ohno:

I am ok with this if we play ourselves out of the pinstripe.  It has the benefit of sounding like it's a good bowl game even though it's not anymore.

That Iowa State win probably hurt us. It gives us one more win, and ISU one less win, making them more likely to go to the Pinstripe Bowl. Bill should have known better than to win Farmageddon this year.

Isu could be fishing outside of the big 12 alliances with 6 wins w/atm and ttu being surprise winners yesterday

So if OSU goes to the Cotton, Missouri stays home? Brutal.

We will not be going to the Pinstripe Bowl with 7 wins. No bowl game would be able to select a 6-6 team over us, and there will not be enough 7 win Big 12 teams for us to go to the Pinstripe Bowl.

*Edit: Never mind, it appears that rule was changed this year.

The outcome of bowl games is pretty irrelevant, though. It's really more of an "honor to be there" kind of thing.

Most bowl prediction sites have Iowa State looking outside the Big 12 realm of Bowl Affiliations. No one really predicted us to be picked over Missouri last year so hopefully Jamie can sell our fans better than some lame AD like Mike Alden at Missouri. Sounds lame but I'm hoping for a Haverhill Homecoming in Detroit. Gotta win in Boulder first.

Pinstripe: $2,000,000
Dallas: $1,200,000

The Texas Bowl has the 2nd lowest payout of any bowl?  That's rough ridin' pathetic, especially considering it features 2 BCS teams.

There's like 1.4 million reasons why he wouldn't do that.

They don't think Oregon will make the title game

Va Tech in a BCS Bowl?

Yeah. What kind of Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) would pick a team that has a 5-0 record in ACC play to go to a BCS bowl?

Wasn't referring to that.  I was referring to the fact that Va Tech lost to a damn FCS team this year and that it would be odd to see them reach a BCS bowl after that.  You gotta keep up son, retards get left behind.

Well, yeah, but winning the ACC this year is about as impressive as winning Conference USA. Somebody has to win it.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl ESPN Projection: Syracuse vs. Kansas State
http://cfn.scout.com/2/557866.html

The worst case scenario would be the Texas Bowl with the worst payout of $600K.

Holiday: $2,200,000
Texas: $612,500
Pinstripe: $2,000,000
Dallas: $1,200,000

This gave me flashbacks of the ass kicking at the hands of Cuse in the Insight Bowl. That was ugly and at the time one of the most unenthusiastic KSU fan base for a bowl game. I'm pretty sure that was the year Ell Roberson just threw the ball to the other team or directly at his receivers feet over and over and over.

I focus on the ass kicking we handed Cuse and McNabb in the Fiesta Bowl.

I think it was on 810 during a dodds interview, but did anyone else hear how the bowl payouts are completely up to negotiations. I guess alot of the time schools don't get the full pay out because ADs will bargain with the committees. One citing of this was KU being picked over MU for the Orange bowl.
