Re: I Give You Ron Morris' AP Ballot

The problem is having 2 Kansas teams in the discussion with these fly-over media stooges.  They get confused which one is which.
You are giving far too much credit to some of these guys.  This isn't a knock on KSU, it's a reality of living in flyover land.  You can't tell me you haven't heard announcers confuse our schools at least a few times each year in football or basketball?  I heard it numerous times during KU's Orange Bowl season a couple of years ago.

Remember, a lot of these writers are the same guys who live on the east coast and say things like "I just can't stay up late enough to watch the Oregon vs. Utah game, I'll just check the highlights".  Kornheiser and Bob Ryan have said as much themselves.  For them to get KSU and KU mixed up is not out of the realm of possibility, especially when both teams might be hanging in the top ten for a good portion of the year.

Is that why 10 Big 12 coaches picked us to win the conference?  Because they got the two teams confused?

The fact that KU is the more popular of the two schools nationally. I can see some people confusing KSU with KU especially when it comes to preseason Top 10 rankings. In case you haven't noticed, KU is a fixture in the Top 10 pretty much every year. When was the last time if ever has KSU ever started the preseason ranked in the Top 10? Its not a difficult mistake too make for a journalist.

Sorry, but he does live in flyover land.  He just doesn't realize MHK/KSU are no longer in that category with them....Ranks right up there with a shared football/track facility.

So KU isn't elite enough at basketball for national folks to keep the two straight?  Good to know.  Good to know.   :users:

I sent him a PI with invite, link to this thread and message saying we needed sqwawk here with more mettle than the passive-aggressive punching bag beems. Warned that poster intimidation could be pretty bad, but he seemed like a big boy. Told him he couldn't get banned here so come out swinging.

Just sayin . . . I personally love kcsportsfans work.   It's absolutely true we need a true block of granite ku kool-aid drinker on this board.   Someone with absolute resolve.   Beems as stated above simply isn't capable of that.

Also kinda wish that more of the wavethewheat dudes would post more here.  That is really about all this board needs. About 20 quality posters from other schools.

So when they made their votes and then put uk outside of the top 10 they didn't think about keeping the two straight? Got it. Good to know.

Aren't they #7 in both polls?

I don't really know and honestly don't care much about preseason polls so I didn't look into it, and really don't care too much that we're ranked #3. My point was they got us confused but put both teams in their rankings... Meaning they thought they were good enough to mean to put uk in their twice, once by mistake and then again.  They didn't know they difference so they put both in just for good measure. If they're #7 it makes that point even more Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Really? How long have you had Directv? I've watched alot of sports on that channel. I've had that channel from the time I got Directv.

I just checked and yes it is on Direct TV. Live in Oklahoma City. Sure hope they have the Jayhawk Network
games. Assume the other exhibition will be on as well.

Re: Washburn @ Kansas on Directv
I could be wrong, but I believe that channel would be part of the sports pack for anyone not in the KC area.  Not sure how much it is on its own.  But when I had it with bundled with HBO it was $25 a month.

And I have never seen an exhibition game on directv outside of Kansas.  Very good news for those of you who can see it.

Sports pack is $12/mo. and it's well worth it!

Yippee, I get to watch an exhibition game on my tv and not the 'net ban-cha.gif

Hope all the rest of them (exhibitions) are on, too.

Fox Sports KC.  I was confused too when I saw it.  My guess is that is mostly for people in Kansas on cable systems and great for national Direct TV folks with the Sports Package and all those Fox's. It will probably be blacked out in KC there so 62 gets exclusive rights.  62 is paying lots for KU bball.

I am very confused, because the KC Star is saying the K-State game is going to be on FSKC and Directv says the KU game is on FSKC. Is this lieu of a blackout in the KC area?
