nice place?
terrible?
-
tenure track?
-
I've been there.
I was there in the late spring. There is a river/creek that goes around campus, and chicks (broads) in bikini tops casting off their back packs on their way to/from class and jumping in the river. rough ridin' crazy.
I visited quite a few of the buildings and it was nice. Doesn't have the vastness of an uber state institution, but definitely is more impressive than any non-BCS Texas campus I have seen.

Yeah, this is pretty accurate. Very nice place, and most people are chill as hell. It's got its problems like every other campus in the country, but it's an awesome place to spend 4 years.
If you don't mind me asking, why are you interested?

i like the river concept but don't they have alligators in that crap?
just looked at the campus on google maps, seems cool.

Possible job there. sys nailed it.

What department? There's a chance I can give you at least a cursory overview of it. PM if you don't feel comfortable saying it publicly.

Even when there's been really bad droughts, you can still swim in it. You just have to stay away from areas of wild rice (an endangered species that only lives on the river and nowhere else), because their stands get really, really thick.
-
i take back my comments about not being able to swim in it. i was looking further towards the north side of campus
this looks good. not sure about the rice, 42, can you confirm?

also, how much fun would it be to swim in the fish hatchery off of Staples Road and Fish Hatchery Road? (South part of John J Stokes State Park)
-
also, hard to believe that there's no alligators down there. i believe there probably is some in that river.
-
Yes, can confirm. I got some of that in my face when I jumped into the river in my cap and gown (TXST tradition)
Fish hatchery is more like a garbage hatchery. Don't bother, go to New Braunfels instead after you get bored w/our river. There you can actually RIDE alligators :driving:
@Chings: If you like weather that doesn't suck, then Texas State is for you.

Assuming that you think that up to 40 days of 100+ weather doesn't suck.

It's like an open invitation to go tubing.

Just getting the facts out there.
