I think Tayler Martinez may suck at throwing the football. We should use this to our advantage.
-
Also, their LBs don't seem to be very good. Someone make sure Bill knows about this.
-
Oh no, maybe the HFBIQ Only part left only me....talking to myself....about things only I can understand. :horrorsurprise:
-
Bo and Carl Pelini are about as smart as you would expect a couple of guys named Bo and Carl Pelini to be. We should be able to exploit their gaping intelligence hole.

Don't worry I'm in this thread. There run game D sucks as well.

Thanks for joining the convo HFBIQ poster stormnut. Did you see my point about their LBs? Wow, we're on the same HFBIQ wave length here bro.
-
The problem is . . . our run game defense sucks as well, and our LB's are awful, unless you call dragging a guy down 8 yards down the field good.
I got the impression after the CFU game that OB while he wasn't happy with the offense, was even less than happy with the defense, saying at one point "He's not a bend" guy. If you recall we had terrible field position almost the entire game because we bent so much.
-
Their DBs seem to be kinda good. Maybe not the game to unleash carsy coff deep....or is it? (see hfbiq bo & carl pelini both being retards point made by sd above ;) )
-
The little Burkhead guy is kinda shifty and fast. Maybe a good idea to "bottle him up" (hfbiq term) to keep him from hurting us.
-
We need to physically kill some of their players.

Not just a LB issue, there DT and DE are being pushed around quite a bit. Our O-Line will open Valley sized holes for DT. And when they cheat up our size at TE and WR will expose their suck-filled LB when CC pass it over the middle. It will be glorious.
-
I haven't seen NU play. No comment.
Otherwise, great thread sd.

i get this feeling that this thread might be a

Their receivers are big and fast. Kinda scary given our db size and Tysyn suckiness in coverage...until you go back to a previous post in this thread by a very HFBIQ poster ;)

Don't think Harman played after he sucked during the UCF game. Saw Lamar and Zimmer out there most of the game.
-
Our DL and LBs are going to have to "step up" in this one to stop their rushing attack. We should make their freshman beat us with his arm so we should do whatever people do that want to do that.
-
I watched a good portion of the Nub vs Washington game and can say they are extremely fast and effective in their secondary. It appears that their run defense is average as they gave up over 100 yards to South Dakota State's main running back. But like Saul said a few untimely deaths couldn't hurt the cause.

Correct.

Nebraska's 4 opponents have a combined total of 3 wins this year. Bo and Carl Pelini are indeed stupid. Nebraska has had trouble stopping the run. I agree that Tayler Martinez probably sucks as throwing the football. Hopefully we can take advantage of all these factors.
-

They probably smell bad as well. Is there any way the qhatz can exploit this?
-
Good thread, while we're forcing this Tayler kid to throw the ball instead of run, we should try and force him to throw it to our guys.
Maybe force him to "hurry" his throws, you know. I hope Bill is reading this thread. Bo can't read, so we're probably good there. :HFBIQsmilie:
-
I think we should try to make their running back fumble, too.

Very astute observations SD. I believe that "keeping contain" and "maintaining rush integrity" (<-Extremely HFBIQ terms. Don't attempt to use unless you are an expert.) will be vital in this regard.
-

Pretty dangerous player imho. He's a 5-star on Castefootball.us :ohno:
-
The amount of QB pressure that we put on the pocket will dictate how the game will go. I say we abuse Martinez like we did McCoy in '07.
-
Guys, their kicker/punter is good. Really good. Can nail it from downtown. Their kickoff guy is also good from deep. Our kickers are not so much good. Not so much good at all.
-
we're not going to hit tay before he throws so we need to hit him after he throws, BUT, not so late after he throws that we get flagged for it. as long as we full on drill him and dont hit square for a desperation dive we should be ok. this will work, guys, it has to work.
-
I hope we see the Wildcat with Thomas, Harper, Klein, Wilson, Lamur, Tuggle, and Sams all at the same time. Guaranteed touchdown.
Guaranteed.
:ksu:

zigzag

Guys, I really think Josh Cherry is going to be ready for this game. After all, he is from Nebraska.
I think anytime we get inside the 40, we should just automatically send out the FG team. With the way Cherry will be feeling, it will be an automatic 2 points every time.
-

it's what they would least expect, right. also minimizes damage when he throws a pick.

is it the Green Bay defense that only rushes w/ 1 down lineman.
i created a Madden defense way back in the day to stop my friend's Michael Vick zigzag offense. i think it was based on the dime but could also use 7 DBs 1 LB and 3 DL.
but I think we need to stop the power running game first and foremost. but if they get in 2nd or 3rd and long we can bring in the zigzag defense.
-
Should we have someone "spy" Martinez during the game? Probably yes. Bill should tell one of our defenders to watch his every move and if he tries to run tackle him immediately.

due to the inability of most of our defenders to tackle i would advise not to tackle immediately but to try and keep him in front of you and yell for help or ask for mercy.
-
Also, their LBs don't seem to be very good. Someone make sure Bill knows about this.
They had two LB starters go down in fall camp. Both won't play vs. us. Could explain the LB suckage.

Projected number of Hrebec Foot Dives: 23

We're gonna have to keep 'em out of the end zone. That'll mean they score not so much in the way of points, which increases our chance of winning.

This is true. The team with the most points usually wins.

BEND, BUT DONT BREAK!!
( :lynchmob: <<< but the opposite)

its been our gameplan in every game this yr to force teams to throw against us. not saying we've really forced anyone to throw against us, but its been the gameplan. maybe this time...

if that's the case, we've been pretty shitty against the run..
-
I feel like an idiot having any kind of expectations of this Defense... I would like to think we can "force them to be 1 dementional" or have them commit to the run, but as we all know, we are undersized and slow (save for Brandon Harold and maybe Lamur) and I personally shudder to think aobut the copius amount of rushing yardage Nubb will have against this Defense, but stranger things have happened (see aTm last year) and that's why I love this game.
However, if we can match their scoring, it will be the 2003 Chiefs all over again - all offense and precious little defense.
all that being said, I think we are going to get our collective dicks knocked in the dirt.

Expect lots of bending; hope for little breaking.

From a defensive perspective I think it's a game of percentages. We should try to keep their 3rd down conversion percentage to a minimum... like say 0%. Taking this strategy further, it would be best to eliminate all 1st & 2nd down conversions as well. Implement a stingy 4th down conversion defense and we're gold.
-
You guys know that Snyder has saved, like, 97% of our offensive playbook just for this game, right?
NU is about to run into a rough ridin' buzzsaw of old balls football genius; a senior citizen grumpiness-fueled orchestra of offensive play calling perfection that's been building up inside Coach's wrinkly old flesh purse for months now, and he's about to pull out and blow a hot creamy load of pure football trickeration and tomfoolery brilliance all over NU's curb-stomped whiney bitch-ass faces. And yes, some of it will get in your hair.
LET'S OPEN THIS BITCH UP!!!
-
let's open it up
-
yep. open it up guys

Stormy, I like you. You are one of my favorite posters, no joshin', and your game plan is spot on. But I challenge you on one point. Remember all those passes that Queso completed over the middle? Ok, Stormy, remember any passes that Queso completed over the middle? Yea, me neither. Clearly this is one of two things:
A) Carsy can not throw over the middle (Some people are actually going to believe this option)
or
B)We have yet to open it up

When should we merge this with the "sign ideas for the Nubb game" thread?
We all have the same sign:
"OPEN IT UP"
-
Open 'er up boys.
-
Open 'er up boys.
If by "Open It Up" you mean Chris Harper starting at QB, then I'm all for it. :lynchmob:

I think we'll see the Tecmo offense. :woot:

I recommend Hrebec for the entertainment value of watching him try to chase Martinez down.
