Title: ESPN3 on consoles
Post by: WildCatzPhreak on September 29, 2010, 07:54:56 PM
The beta version was just released for those who signed up for it on 360.  It will supposedly be coming to similar devices as Netflix (not just consoles, but blueray players, etc) in the next 18-24 months.

It's pretty slick.  Higher quality (Could be HD?) and much smoother.  Live games, Game replays, Several different ESPN shows including sportscenter on demand, Mike & Mike, Around the Horn, Rome is burning, etc.

Far superior than watching this stuff on my PC.

Two things brah.

1) ESPN3 is not a video game
2) It's coming out on things that are not just gaming consoles (like blueray players SUPPOSEDLY!)
3) I'm too lazy to add to an existing thread.  It's easier to just create a new one and then have the mods move it for me.  DO WORK SAUL!

Do you attribute this superiority to the increased capabilities of your 360 vs your PC or is this a different version of ESPN3 then what PCs get?

I seriously doubt its higher quality, you are just sitting further away from the TV than you are the computer screen

different machines output different quality images.  doesn't take a computer nerd to know that.

Its all streaming from the same source.  Pretty much completely dependent on internet speed

pretty  much completely not dependent on internet speed.  internet speed has nothing to do with the quality of the video.  sure bigger pipes support bigger files, but don't be a dumbass.  different hardware processes video differently, some better than others.  what is this, CIS 110?

I'm in the UK right now and we get some pay site called ESPN Player instead of ESPN3 :goodbyecruelworld:. So unless i can go through a proxy or something i'll have to hunt for streams to watch my QATZ

Beta registration is closed right now yeah, but they do sometimes open these things up to new users in waves.

FWIW, another thing they've added in this beta is a search function for Netflix.  You don't have to browse based on categories or use your computer to control your instant streaming anymore.
