Title: Fried Egg Sammiches
Post by: Pittcat on September 22, 2010, 07:06:28 PM
Also, what do you like on your egg sammich?  For me it's pepper, garlic chowder, ham and cheese on toasted wheat bread.

Sounds good.  But why must we always try to church up an already wonderful American classic like the fried egg sandwich?  FWIW, good call putting the tabasco on the bottom bun.  The flavor gets to the tongue with greater ease.  Speaking of that, did anyone know that the only major burger chain that puts condiments on the bottom bun is Dairy Queen?

Love the fried egg sandwich with some shredded cheese and picante.  Love it.  Avocado slice sounds delish.  Also like a fried egg (over easy) on a hamburger..

Since we're on the subject of fried eggs...If you ever find yourself in Miesau, Germany, look for a place called Eddy's just outside the gate of an Army installation.  It's a little bar/pizza joint.  Order a tall beer of your choice (you'll catch hell from the barmaid if you ask for a Bud Light) and then order a Lumberjack pizza.  Halfway through the baking process they crack an egg onto the middle of the pizza and let it cook the rest of the time.  rough ridin' amazing.

Eating German style pizza = being able to die happy.

I usually go with two eggs, break the yolks, and drop in some some ground beef, folding the edges into a square as it cooks before flipping it. Sometimes I add vermont white cheese and a few pan-seared slices of ham. I'm all about the protein.

I had a fried egg sammich for dinner last week because of this very reason.   2 eggs fried until the yolks weren't very runny, sprinkled some shredded cheese in between the eggs so it would melt better.  Topped with Miracle Whip.  But on the top bun, I was such a bottom bun noob at the time.

On a side note, Winsteads makes a very good egg sandwich.  They even toast the bread.  Much better than their BLT.  Also, an in season BLT > egg sandwich fwiw. (ftp://:love:)

Potato bread slice
Slice of pasteurized american cheese (way better than "real" cheese here)
Fried sliced ham (goodly amount)
Fried Eggs (at least two depending on size maybe more)
Tabasco
Potato bread slice

toast for variety but don't muck with contents

fitz adds a chicken breast to his egg sammie that sick, twisted son a bitch. there's a fitz/breast joke in there somewhere but i'm not going to make it because i do not want to take the attention away from the fact that known creep tim fitzgerald eats a sandwich with a fried egg and possibly the dead chicken that gave birth to it on the same sandwich. very disturbing when i found that out.

Supposedly, egg goes very well with chicken.  Can't vouch for it myself, as it has never came up in a situation when I was ordering food.  "Hey, can I get an 8-piece and 6 eggs, sunny side up?"  "Hey, Mr Subway sandwich artist, can I please have a 6 inch chicken on wheat, extra egg?"   Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Talmudically , I remain 100% opposed to chicken/egg sandwiches. That's why I only get the chicken minis when I break the fast at chick-fil-a.
