The "School Basics" page is interesting. I never realized that K-State rejects 44% of all applicants.
-
Can I be denied admission?
Yes. K-State may deny admission if your academic work does not meet the Qualified Admissions requirements. In addition, you will be denied admission if you are currently incarcerated. K-State reserves the right to deny admission on an individual case basis.
I think the acceptance rate is more like 83%

damn. that sucks

This is more in line with what I was expecting. Either a ton of dumbasses who have no business applying to any 4 year college are trying to get into K-State or Kirk Schultz is lying his ass off to Newsweek. Hopefully, it's the latter.
-
not bad. finally, a reasonable ranking.

We did it on purpose to show the outrageousness of these types of rankings.
emaw.

This is SO K-State. Get to the sweet 16, start talkin crap, and then :doom:
-
Love it.
-
The DoD (Day of Dominance) that we just had was almost as good as the HoD (Hour of Dominance) that we had when Gary Patterson was our head coach.
-
I'm waiting for the Omaha Herald to release a similar piece about UNL's ranking. UNL is no more selective than K-State. That's for sure. Just more reason to put zero stock in rankings like this. What an awful article.
-
omfg

this. it was a muthafuckin' bomb azz ride though. :kstatriot:
-
I thought "public" universities were created to serve the "public?" :dunno:
We would be more "desirable" if we only served the top half of the "public" that applies? Bizarre logic. This ranking was probably created by an idiot from one of the elitist Big 10 schools like Michigan.

 This.

Uh, someone pls explain what that says. Blackberry won't let me click the link (angry)

We let everybody in, but lied about it. Kinda like a whore that claims she's a virgin. That cherry been popped, yo!

mrs. dave is facebook friends with all the KSU admin types and told me she was wondering what all their FML style status updates were about

wouldn't have expected anything less from you, kansas state. :frown:
-
K-State should just take a cue from this and continue to lie their ass off to any publication that asks. They also never should have come out and admitted the truth.
-
The actual admission rate at K-State is about 98 percent, said Pat Bosco, vice president for student life.
Pfft.
-
We are...K-State. :ksu:
:blindfold:
-
Other schools hire PR firms to lobby publications like U.S. News on their behalf . . . why not fudge some numbers?? :dunno:
-
Next year we should tell Newsweek that our average student scored a 30 on the ACT, that the high temperature in August is 85, and that the low in January is 60. 93% of all accepted students chose to enroll, but only 42% of applicants got accepted.

I think this all shows how stupid/meaningless/unreliable rankings are.

Yeah, I've never seen rankings that take into account job placement rate, average starting salary, or where applicable, standardized test scores (FE, GRE, etc.). It seems to me that these should be important factors in determining a school.
They don't even consider the number of Truman, Rhodes, and Goldwater scholars
-
These rankings are complete horseshit. Why don't they take into account only the stuff K-State is good at? HUH? WHY!? :curse:

If they would include armed forces support, Harley's, and fireworks...we would be guaranteed top 5.

Yeah, we will rank a strong #1 in ninja turtle production

the good students at KSU (the 10% that do score 30+ on the ACT...there are a ton of them here) have their degree looked down upon simply because KSU accepts EVERYONE. Meanwhile, private schools look amazing because they are so exclusive.
private schools = free market theory at work.
yet students at KSU vote republican.

I don't care what these "Rankings" say, KSU is top 25 most desirable to me.

It's like we got prom queen but then someone hosed us down in pigs blood....that someone was ourselves.

Can you make a CPI for academic rankings?

this qualifies for GTOAT :kstatriot:

No

Toss out the freshman that the KBOR forces K-State to take, and the average ACT score for incoming Freshman at K-State which is already nearly 25, probably goes to 26. Which is pretty strong for a land grant public university.
-
c'mon you republican fruits.
argue this now.
private schools = free market theory at work.
yet students at KSU vote republican.

Hey KSTATEO students
Try opening a book sometime, you dumbasses

Didn't open one my entire freshman year.
True story.
-
Next year, K-State should just have another misunderstanding with Newsweek and give them the average ACT score of people who actually graduate.
