Title: Hope For The Future (Next HC Related)
Post by: steve dave on September 14, 2010, 08:54:06 AM
So, have been told by super insiders that LHC Bill Snyder will have basically no say in who we hire as our next head coach.  He will be "consulted" and made to look like he's involved in the entire process but Currie doesn't care what his input is in the actual hire.  Pretty great feeling knowing that we won't have to worry about a Dimel, Miller, Sean (snicker), etc. taking over when Bill is done.  Though I hope Bill coaches for awhile longer and respect the hell out of the man, I didn't want him rough ridin' up the next hire.

I'm sure Curry already has a "short list", I mean all quality ADs always have a "short list"...right?

Is this really a concern?  I mean, OB wasn't consulted on our last football hire, and we saw where that got us.  Maybe consulting OB would have been a good thing.

I should be consulted.

if i was currie i would rent the house next door to the house that leach is living in now and offer to be his butler and then slip him a "roofie" and then have him sign a contract to be the next cats head coach. then fire snyder. not that hard.

Here's what the next head coach should bring, imo.  (on a scale of 1-10)

Coaching skill - somewhere between a 6 and an 8
Sexyness/Adorableness - 10, no exceptions
Will to win (cheat) - 8 to 10
"Part of the family" - 1
Fan of Van Halen - 1

NO! LHC Bill Snyder has no idea who the good coaches are and who the bad ones are.  He should be kept as far away from the hiring process as possible.  I'm pretty sure everyone he's selected as an assistant has failed and faded into oblivion.  He doesn't have a coaching tree, he has a coaching mass grave like the nazis.

And I don't want to hear crap about how the new coach "get's what it takes to win here", or "know's what K-State football is all about". I want a guy who had to google k-state just to know what the hell it's at. But it doesn't even really matter where he's going because all he wants to do is whatever it takes to kick ass.

I pretty much want the Scott Drew of football coaching.

that doesn't really work all that well in fball. you really kinda need someone with a gimmicky offense or someone with history of recruiting the area/texas or something probably to be any decent at ksu. basketball people have national contacts and only have to recruit a couple people each year. fball is just different.

I agree with most of this.

Also, If I hear, "(insert prospective shitty coach's name here), come on home", someone will die.

So you want Ron Zook or Tim Brewster?  I'd kick your coaching skill up pretty high if I were you, recruiting isn't every solution

That's a given and sure I'd like the next guy to have some Texas recruiting experience but football also has a bigger staff where the coach can fill out his requisite KS Juco/HS/Midwest recruiting connects. More than anything I just want to bring in a fresh new mentality that doesn't define our limits and yes more of an emphasis on national marketing/recruiting. I mean we are the center of anti-agro-terrorism now and have a damn airport, let's start acting like it.

Yeah. I basically want UNC's current staff and Florida's compliance office. The last thing we want is a "bob knight" hire.
