I guess this could be about any sports team, but it's a question that I ask myself from time to time.
Why do we even care about EMAW sports? Most of us don't know the dudes who play on the teams, and many will never even meet them. We invest emotions in a game that a bunch of kids play on saturday's, and for what?
Admittedly, I usually feel like this after I spend a weekend, and a lot of money watching the cats get beat, but the question remains even when things are great.
Why are we :users:?

I know right, it pisses you off when you think about how utterly pointless it is. It is still fun though.

and while we're on the topic. what's the point of living? I mean, life would be so much easier if I just stayed in my basement, masturbated and ate funyons all day. And driving cars? What's that all about? If something is far enough away that I can't yell and people at that location can hear me - what's the point? I have to get in a rough ridin' car and spend like... minutes to go somewhere else. eff that. And love. Really, what's the point of love? Loving people has only brought me sadness. Love is for suckers. What's the point.

I've never noticed how rough ridin' sexy my legs were. Maybe there's something to this staying in the basement all day masturbating.

Props to Nic for being able to type while beating off to dude porn.

Tribalism is in our DNA. We all have deep seated need to be a part of a group...sports, politics.
-
K-State represents our community. When K-State plays well, we have the opportunity to take pride in our community.

Because klan rallies get old after a while!!

It's a great excuse to have a nut fry!
-
Because it's not PC to make fun of K-State fans unless you are one. :pbj:
-
Because "Wildcat Victory" is more than a song! :kstatriot:

It's the only excuse we have to drink during the middle of the day without being considered an alcholic. :drink:

This. Oh and pride and stuff.

I knew this would be a sensitive subject. I get the tribalism aspect.
I always try and connect KSU sports to KSU doing well as a whole (wins = money = better school = more buildings, etc). What made me think of it was watching some NFL games this weekend, and how I pretty much laugh at hardcore NFL fans.
Never knew you guys would get so butt-hurt about it.
Also jt, why do you always have to throw some homosexual oriented insult in your posts? Are you trying to tell us something?

And we're proud of it.

Like drug addicts, there was a point in our lives when it became apparent to us that we could no longer live without it. And unlike heroin, bbsing is pretty easy to get/do and doesn't leave a mess.
Seriously though I can kind of remember my thinking as I was traveling down the path of KSU obsession. Kind of like noticing the symptoms of a disease. Eventually, I just gave up though. Everyone knows I have it. My girlfriend included.

i like sports and i gave ksu a shitload of money. the best mistakes of my life were made at ksu.
