Not to take anything away from KU, as they looked impressive yesterday, but GT is not the top 15 team that they were last year.

It'd be stupid to say that they are as bad as they looked against NDSU, but it would be equally foolish to say that they are as good as they looked yesterday.

Ben, before you get all excited abot Sims' performance-  SCSU's team had more rushing yards against GT, their) had more rushing yards than Sims, and their) almost had more rushing yds than the entire KU squad.  OMG, Sims is awesome!!!  Rofl!!  Lol!!  LMAO!!!

I watched the game.  Ga Tech is not a top 15 team.  Not even close.  KU played a good game, but the team they beat is not the same team they were last year.  'Grats on the fighting Gills breaking that pesky eight game losing streak though.
Title: Re: BMW gloating thread

Sims went off for 100+ yards and a TD in his first ever college football game, against a top 15 team.  That's encouraging to say the least.  Anyone who watched that game could see the talent that Sims possesses.  Only a true hater would sit back and try to invalidate that performance.

“I was like, ‘They’re acting like we haven’t won a game in like 10 years,’?” Johnson said. “Then I was like, ‘Wait a second …’?”

Kansas hadn’t won in 11 months

Personally I was rooting for KU.  Them winning helps our RPI.  We will likely win 10-11 games this season and the BCS selection committee will take a hard look at RPI and SOS when seeding the BCS bowl games.

Let's be rational here, folks.  Those trying to discount how big this victory was for KU by saying "well, GA Tech was overrated" need to take a closer look.  This is nearly the identical team they took to the OB last year.  Same freaking team.

I'm not laying claim to KU having a great team this year.  They aren't one, as great teams don't lose to FCS foes.  KU had a solid gameplan on defense, executed the plan, and didn't make any huge mistakes offensively.  That recipe will win some games with a young and unproven team.  Sound familier?

The '09 KU/KSU v '10 Ga Tech/KU comparison is a good one.  I do see one small flaw- The presence of the 2nd coming of Ron Prince.  Kinda hard to see his team winning 4 Big 12 games.

actually, Ga Tech had to replace 4 starters on the OLine.  "Nearly identical" offensively if you are just referring to the QB because when you subtract Dwyer, Thomas, & 4 OLineman it may change things just a little bit.  It's still a good win for KU considering the new coaching staff and last week's crash but this is not a Ga Tech team we saw last year.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Carlos Anderson rushed for 158 yards, including a 12-yard game-clinching score in the third quarter, and the Northern Iowa defense had 11 sacks Saturday en route to a 16-9 victory over North Dakota State.

Tirrell Rennie added 172 yards passing and 96 yards rushing for the Panthers, who were opening the season with a Missouri Valley Conference game against the Bison.

North Dakota State (1-1, 0-1), coming off a 6-3 win over Kansas last week, was held to minus-40 yards rushing due to the loss of 77 yards on sacks.

Jose Mohler completed 20 of 35 passes for 247 yards for the Bison but was picked off twice. He also had a 16-yard run with 4:28 left in the game for North Dakota State's only touchdown.

The Bison got the ball back with 1:33 remaining, but their drive stalled after back-to-back sacks by Northern Iowa closed out the game.
 :surprised:

So, yeah, our UCLA win was overshadowed by Stanford destroying them....but the 1-AA you lost to...was dominated .......Northern Iowa.

I'd tell the Kansas fans who rushed the field after the game to act like they'd been there before, but most of them hadn't. You haven't truly made it until you have a video featuring Right Said Fred.  (gold standard)

Not gonna lie, would love to see something like that for KSU.  Can you imagine seeing Snyds give an impassioned speech then lead his team in the "swagger sway?"

Talk about a recruiting advantage for KU.

With all these "recruiting advantages" how is it that KSU WRSOAT is outrecruiting Prince jr. and his all-star recruiting staff?

we said the same thing about Prince....and what did you say in retaliation? Feel free to lie to get your way out of this one..

BMW, You would really be smart to post a few times on here before the start of the season. Your "first post in months" gloating after the Hawks come to Manhattan and walk out with a "W" will ring pretty hollow if you don't speak up before the season starts. I think KSU will be the surprise of the Big 12 (vs. preseason # 6), but KU will be a close 2nd.

Think of the missed opportunities if you don't post something prior to the season.

I think people will be surprised at how awful they still are.

I think another 0-9 or 1-8 season is in order for them.  I'm looking forward to the four year W/L total to state 3-31 or something like that.

Nope, I think they're gone.

I loved them, they were so good.   Watching the one after the K-State game last year almost sent me into a panic at one point, because it was such a fantastic spin and so well done, I thought K-State had actually lost the game.    It was kind of scary  :ohno:

Really powerful.   I hear Coach Hov-A-Round has squashed it though.

Are you guys really still bagging on CW? Could you imagine how excited we would have been if we had hired him instead of RP all those shitty years (except for last year) ago? The guy is a winner who happens to be fat. Big deal. We have a winner who happens to be old. It will be a great game this year and I am glad it is in Manhattan.

I think beemer is staying quiet because he has a feeling that they are going to be pretty good. I'd love to hear his take on it, but all of the CW butthurt is probably keeping him out of here.

KU still can't play defense.  An improved offense may get them a couple of conference wins but thats about it.

Unfortunately this post was never bumped in a timely fashion, because it is a gem.
