Title: What scoring range makes for optimum excitement in a football game?
Post by: nicname on September 08, 2010, 06:18:08 PM
Do you like shoot-outs, low scoring affairs, or something in between?  I always thought that the best games had enough scoring to keep the excitement up but not so much that it became dull.

A spread of 7 points or fewer with both teams hovering around 30 points is about as good as it gets.  Think KSU/NU 2000, Boise/VT 2010.

i love a close game.  Unless it's seeing Nebraska or Texas get blown out.

K-State under LHC Bill Snyder is not very successful in that scoring range unfortunately :frown:
when the score is between  28-35 for both teams KSU is 0-1.  If we expand that by -7 points (both teams score between 21 and 35 points) KSU is 6-8.  If we expand by +7 points (both teams score between 28 and 42 points) KSU is 2-8.

The UCLA game was pretty nice; a bit of a nail biter - then DT does his thing to seal the deal what a great feeling.

I like walking out of a game knowing that the other team can't make excuses for getting their ass kicked.  No "that one bad call turned the game" or "you got lucky on that one drive".

pretty much 35-7. you know who the better team was that night, no excuses.

Correct, the excitement comes by watching tons of kstate scoring and tons of lynch mob lynchmobbing.
