I have really grown to dislike Boise, especially the goofy looking QB.  Maybe LaGarrette can falcon punch out Moore's ginourmus horse teeth.

Yeah. They remind me a little too much of what UTSA is trying to be. A glorified community college with a douchebag bandwagon-centric fanbase that is comprised of maybe 25% of people who actually graduated from there.

I'd rather see Boise or TCU in the NC than OSU, Bama, Texas, etc.  Would love to see TCU get totally raped though, or whatever scenerio it takes to get Patterson here.

Don't get the Boise hate.  What more do they have to do to legitimize their program?  If they go to the nat'l championship this year, it will be because of how dominant they've been over the last three years, imo.

Wow.  Boise is on the cusp of their "1998" happening in their first game of the season.  Man, how do you come back from that, if that's how this plays out?

despite the other faults of the system, you cannot emphasize how much easier it is for boise to get to the title game than it is for any other contender.  with two exceptions, their entire season consists of playing LHC Bill Snyder style cupcakes.

Boise's ONLY credential for being the title game at the end of the year is that they started the year ranked at #3.  That's it.

Boise looks very cheaty.  Late hits, lots of cut blocks and shoving.  any time Va Tech strings together several good plays, a BSU player goes down with an "injury" to give them a breather.

in other words, elite.

Yeah but you also have to remember that if Boise wasn't ranked #3 to start the season, they have no shot.  Without a season like last year and really the year before that for Boise, they're not ranked number 3.  If they go to the national title game, it will be because of 2 straight years of perfect football.  In other words, they will need to win 24 straight to win the national title, and of those 24, TCU, Oregon, Oregon State, Virginia Tech and whoever they play in the nat'l championship will have been their opponents.  That's impressive and national title worthy.

I get that they have an argument for "earning" the preseason #3 ranking, but they won't EARN it on the field this year unless they win this game.  It's not a year over year thing.

I don't think it's just those four teams.  There are quite a few major conference teams that would jump them if they go undefeated.  Va Tech is solid, but not elite, and this was a nailbiter.

And every single voter in the country watched this game and knows it.

Boise would beat the current K-State team by 4 TD's and that's after they called off the dogs with 15 minutes left.

That game tonight made UCLA vs K-State look like it was played in quick sand and everybody on the field in Manhattan had lead boots on.

Maybe they are the best team in the country.  Regardless, relative to every other contender, they don't have to do jack crap in order to make the title game this year.  No team should have it so easy.  Not Texas.  Not Ohio State.  Not Boise State.

I always figured it would a BYU, Utah or TCU that was the first non AQ to reach the MNC.  If you schedule like 3 tough noncon games against ranked foes and then run the MWC, you probably deserve a shot at the championship, provided there is only one other undefeated team.  You gotta play 5 or 6 ranked teams (at least) to be worthy of consideration.  A high early ranking and one or 2 quality wins probably doesn't cut it.

Dumb point. In the last 5 years K-State has beaten Texas (twice), Oklahoma St., Missouri, and UCLA. We should be at least BCS game contenders right  :dunno:
The thing that makes college football so great is supposed to be a regular season where every game is a playoff, but i have never seen a legitimate playoff where you play teams that have half your talent in every round except maybe the first game. Until Boise can beat more than two top 25 teams in a season they have no place in the national title game. Btw, the last two national champions beat 6 ranked teams during their championship seasons, respectively. Oh, and the teams they played those national title games, Texas and Oklahoma, on average beat 5 ranked teams during their runs to the national title game

I don't get it either. It's not their fault they play in a crap conference. They actually scheduled two top 20 teams this year, and you know so many people want to play them. The BCS has screwed them(and other teams) since the beginning. And now it finally swings their way, and everyone throws a crap fit?? Fine by me.

Does anyone else find it comical that they keep repeating: "Boise State has a very good shot at the NC because they started at #3 in the poll" when the only poll that puts them at #3 is the poll that doesn't allow their rankings to be used in the BCS formula?

I find it more comical that you don't know that the AP awards a national championship and has done so since 19fucking47.

To the larger point, I have no idea how anyone could have watched Boise tonight and didn't think that they are one of the best teams in the country.  That alone makes any potential national championship consideration very legit.  Lets drop the BS talk about whether or not they deserve it, at least half of the teams that have played for this thing in out lifetimes weren't universally known as one of the two best teams that played for the title that season.

This system has routinely had teams that have lost playing for a championship, teams that weren't the best team in their conference playing for it, hell even a team that didn't win their DIVISION played for a title.  If Boise played in the BCS Championship game and lost by 45 they still wouldn't be one of the top 5 worst teams since the inception of the BCS to play for a title.  To single Boise out is shortsighted and dumb.  Who cares whether or not they earned it when most who have played for it haven't?  The rules are literally made to exclude them, if they were to get an invite despite that why would anyone bitch about their worthiness :dunno:

Heard a guy on ESPN radio today say that the people who complain about Boise and TCU not playing anybody are actually fans of schools that refuse to schedule those teams.  Up until recently (last 3 years or so) playing TCU, UtahN Boise, etc was a lose/lose proposition for the big boys of college football.  You think Bama wants any part of Boise this year?  I love seeing teams that are outside the traditional "boys club" of college football enjoy success.  We were that for a while.  I would never try to take that away from another school.  (Minus the 1998 ass rape part, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.)

Don't get the Boise hate.  What more do they have to do to legitimize their program?

This.

I don't get it either. It's not their fault they play in a crap conference. They actually scheduled two top 20 teams this year, and you know so many people want to play them. The BCS has screwed them(and other teams) since the beginning. And now it finally swings their way, and everyone throws a crap fit?? Fine by me.

i love boise. they don't deserve the title game. pretty complex concept, huh?

i don't think people understand how easy their schedule truly is. in their conference, they play the teams that snyder has always scheduled for automatic noncon w's.

some are also acting like beating va tech is beating one of the top teams in the country. it probably isn't.

How has K-State done the last couple of times out against Fresno State??    Hey, was that Fresno State I saw breaking Cinncy's 18 (or something like that) game regular season winning streak on Saturday??

Next year Boise moves to the MWC.   Given their recent history, I can't imagine Boise is having much luck getting many BCS schools to play them.   How fast do you think the phone would be hung up on the K-State side if Boise called Snyder and tried to schedule K-State??

Everyone with a clue knows that Peterson was the brains behind Dan Hawkins, that's why Hawkins and CU tried so hard to get Peterson to CU as the OC.

So what if Ron Prince put all of his eggs into one basket and threw everything and the kitchen sink at beating Texas.   Boise State would have taken 10 out of 10 from a Ron Prince coached team.

I hate Boise because 1998 cut me so deep, that if we aren't the small school underdog to win in our only shot in the history of earth, I don't want anyone to win it.

Boise St. just threw all their eggs into one basket and threw everything and the kitchen sink at beating Virginia Tech.

Now they get to play completely vanilla for the rest of the season and put nothing on tape while they practice all sorts of crazy crap like Statue of Liberty plays that they can unleash on Bama in January.  Is that fair?

I watched the game last night.  Va Tech is not the best team in the nation and Boise was very, very lucky to win.

Congrats to Boise State on making the National Championship Game!

Now, who is the other team that gets to make the National Championship Game????  Do we have to wait another week?   :ohno:

ESPN told me Ohio State is going to play Boise in the NC game, and Terrell Pryor already has the Heisman locked up

This. All these arguments are actually in favor of a playoff, not Boise deserving a shot.

Who said VT was the best team in the country??

Let me ask you this IRA, if Boise who was 14-0 last year, had K-State's schedule last year, what would their record have been???  I say they roll into the Big 12 title game undefeated.    They absolutely destroy the Big 12 North, that's for certain.

So?  Texas played 0 top 10 teams on the road, at home, or on a neutral site last year.  Did they have all year to work on trick plays?  Notice people bitching about Boise never talk about how they look on the field.  When you say crap like "very lucky to win" it seems like you aren't interested in having a serious conversation.  What the help does that even mean?

This is a reasonable standard for any national champion.
