Did anyone know that UCLA was going to play virtually the entire game out of the Pistol? Norm Chow and Dick Newheisel trying to outsmart Snyds?
Game Notes:
Brandon Harold and Prizell Brown are good, Guidry played better than Kibble. Our pass rush looks more like a containment rush most of the time.
The DB's were way better than I thought they'd be, Garrett is a good tackler, UCLA receivers suck at catching the ball.
Our LB's :flush: Thank god Lammur, Hartman and Butler know how to tackle because Hrebaec and Childs spent more time on their back than a sorority girl 2 rufees deep.
Someone should tell Coffman that if he ever tucks the ball and takes a sack outside the tackles again I will personally go on the field and ram that giant K-State flag up his ass and out through his nose. Other than that, I think the gameplan made the QB's look worse than their actual abilities (which are pretty bad). 1st half play calling would make Marty Shottenheimer blush.

Yes.
-
Yeah, pretty much everyone knew they were running the Pistol (I think they call it the "Revolver")

Sacks outside the pocket are preferable to forcing a throw and generating turnovers on the perimeter.
Expect a heavy dose of martyball this year. Martyball = Wins
-
He should throw the ball away, not take a sack. That was the whole point of his "out of the pocket" rant, just throw the ball away.

Hey, idiot. He's saying to throw it out of bounds.
-
Unoticed backside pressure can often turn a throw away into a pick six real quick. I wouldn't be surprised if ball security was emphasized to young CC even if that meant taking a sack and preserving field position.
-
is Coffman good enough to take the risk of throwing out of bounds? we should be thankful he knows his limitations. what if he got hit in the middle of his throw and fumbled? what if he couldn't tell which way was out of bounds? maybe he thinks all those guys wearing the opposite color jersey standing on the sideline are actually in the game; playing defense.
no. when in doubt, take the sack.

Possibly, but 2 or 3 of those he definitely had time to throw the ball away. Sure, he's been told not to force the ball, but at some point you'd expect a SR QB to feel pressure and get rid of the ball safely, even if he hasn't played a ton of snaps.

This does not happen often. You know what does happen often? CC taking a sack when he could have thrown the ball out of bounds.

I am sorry to hear about your pressure situation willie i would suggest spending less time in Lawrence/Jail.
"Hey, idiot. He's saying to throw it out of bounds." Thanks for the clarification John Madden
Coffman is obviously not perfect but managed the game well and didn't generate unforced turnovers which resulted in a W, this i can live with.
-
A baby could have thrown some of those balls out of bounds. Taking a sack is like the worst play in football.
-
Some would argue turnovers are worse but they could be wrong.
-
This whole Coffman managing the game well talking point is getting very irritating. I mean gmafb.

Lick, I think you are a very good poster, BUT if you don't learn how to click the god damn "Quote" button....so help me Jesus.....

ban him

Let me make sure I got this straight: The guy who didn't watch the game is telling people who watched the game how little time Carson actually had to throw it away.
-
if snyder was bold and daring, he would play the scout team o-line vs. missouri state, give carson more experience running for his life.
then again, the line might be scrubs anyways?

I though Hrebec played well. He led the team in tackles yesterday with 12.
