There selling standing room only tickets now.

The whole concept of lowering the prices on select (almost always empty) seats on season tickets, running specials, invoking a tiered single game ticket pricing structure for select games etc. etc. Means that you are undervaluing the product. It's always better to have empty seats. I much prefer the Tim Weiser approach of never giving anybody a break and always having 4-6,000 empty seats except for a select few games. There's plenty of money to be made in empty seats.

I agree. In an ideal world, the whole east side upper deck would be empty...

:adios: to the closest person to me...who happens to sit two sections over.

Because nothing says a product is valued correctly like not selling it.

Right, and empty seats lead to SO much more business for concessions , Cat's Closet, and local businesses/restaurants. Not to mention how much better the fan experience is in a partially empty stadium, or how much better it is that opposing teams can hear themselves think without all that pesky noise. After all, the people who can afford the highest priced tickets are the most respectful and most likely to stay sitting and quiet.
Please... selling more tickets at a lower price is better in EVERY aspect. Manhattan businesses, the team, the school's image, and families who can't afford $60 tickets all benefit. In an ideal world, you would have tickets priced so that the increased number of people buying the tickets offsets the lower cost of each ticket, and the multiplier effect from all those extra visitors results in a significant increase in overall benefits to the university and community. You want to price people out of buying those tickets, and you can count on a future as a wine-and-cheese crowd like the one down the river. No thanks. Fill the Bill.

Dax's point isn't without merit, but K-State hasn't approached the point where it would merit that. Also, It's much easier to leave 4-6k seats unsold with a Top 25 team than it is to start leaving 10-15k seats empty because the highest expectation is to simply make a bowl game.
K-State hasn't reached a point where they're alienating regular season ticket holders because buying individual tickets is still more expensive (less any donation). That may change if a large portion of season ticket holders can't attend the NU game this year. In that case, from a financial standpoint, they would be better off buying individual tickets.
-
So I see the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) function still isn't done yet for people registering over here.

This is only true if those season ticket holders do not care how shitty their seats are.

They obviously don't get it when it comes to Dax.

Nothing sells potential in game advertisers and game day sponsors like the usual 4-6,000 empty seats.
Why put the effort into understanding the financials and price points to sell seats?? Simply don't think it through, admire the 4-6,000 empty seats from the A.D.'s suite and go about your day. Maybe next time enough folks will step up and buy those tickets, then again, maybe not. Plus, charge the same amount for those upper level tickets as you do for those lower level tickets and deliver a significantly reduced overall gameday experience. F_ck'm . . . they should've given more money, or bought their tickets earlier.
Marketing to a captured audience is simply far to time consuming as well . . . why pay mere pennies on the dollar to market to an additional 4-6,000 people as compared to what it would cost if they were spread like seeds in the wind??

You're crazy dax. We're K-State, not Ohio State!

Captive audience.
Fact, the most expensive advertising space at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence is on the exit gates.

Cheapest ad locations? The back of the door in Mangino's jumbo crapper.

Consumer surplus is not an economic concept that the K-State athletic department has had a great grasp on in the past. It seems like they're starting to get it under the new administration.
