Title: Lenexa Chili Festival
Post by: bakerman on August 30, 2010, 02:53:34 PM
Competeting in this for the 3rd year in October. Need a team name and you all are far more creative at this than I am. Any suggestions?

Past entries are:

1) Three Legged Dog Chili (my dog only has three legs, but bosses daughter hates this name because it sounds like the dogs leg was used in the chili. Was the point, but she's all animal activist and the boss pays the entry fee.)

2) Roch Chalk Chilihawk (was extremely pissed about this one. told them I wouldn't cook the chili for them if they used this name. They told me they entered another name and I didn't find out until the day of the cookoff.)

Any of you guys in the KC area should really come by for this. $1 gets you in and you get to try as many different chilis and salsas as you want. last year there were over 150 different teams. It's October 16th in Old Town Lenexa, corner of Santa Fe Trail Dr. and Pflumm.

Chili?  More like Awesomili.

Watched a Food Network show detailing these chili festivals. The people that compete are strange.

Yeah, they have a "Showmanship Award" so there are a lot of people who make nutjobs of themselves for the $50.00 gift certificate....

Anytime I have the oppotunity to name a team, I go with Poo Punchers 4.  Since I won't be entering this competition, you may use it this one time.  But never again after that without my written or expressed consent.

I know some big EMAWs that do this every year. Invited me down a couple of years ago. Good time.

Can't wait to make some chili myself this fall. Been perfecting my recipe over the last couple of years.  :lick:
