They obviously don't want us there.  All self-respecting goEMAW'rs will be at Farmageddon armed with Lysol to turn away the skunk stench coming our direction.  I personally plan to procure a goEMAW fire truck so I can hose down the Iowans with relatively clean water.

Why do they do this?  I was all  :excited: and then saw the date.

WTF?

They have to be trying to keep the college kids away.  No other explanation.  Also, they are selling tickets and there are only so many left?  Has to be a towny function that wants to stay a towny function.

Actually guys, I'm the one heading up the Little Apple Oktoberfest.  We chose the 18th because its the same day as the actual Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany.  Also, we chose it to start at 4pm so that anyone attending the game at Arrowhead would have time to get back to Manhattan in time to enjoy the greatest Bavarian holiday known to man.  I know i'll be at both!  Although this is not the ideal date due to the football schedule, it was the only date that we could have it.  Sorry for those who might have been interested.  Also, we don't mean to make this a "towny" event.  We can only sell 500 tickets as imposed by the great city of Manhattan, KS.  They don't want another Fake Patty's Day, so we caved and are only offering 500 tickets.  We would still love to see you guys there if you can make it!

A 500 person oktoberfest seems like an oktoberboring.  You should have stuck with your original idea of Fake Patty's Day II.

The city will say that till they realize how much $$$ they'll have in their coffers.

You should throw another Oktoberfest same day same time, right next door. Offer 500 tickets. Then feign admonishment when the barriers separating the two fall and a 1,000 person strong Bavarian Techno Schliger erupts.

good idea. looks fun. that start time is kind of unrealistic though. that game prob won't get over until close to 3:00 and then another thirty minutes until you are out of the p lot. maybe start it an hour later.

I like the Sept 11 idea.  Just brand it as some sort of Muslim thing and they'll be too afraid to stop you from doing anything.  Hell, hold it right in front of the damn courthouse, they won't stop you.

FYI-  Just talked to a friend of mine that settled in MHK after college.  The Octoberfest was news to her.  She said it didn't matter anyway because she was going to be at Farmaggedon.

Turns out they banned smoking at the real Oktoberfest and now they have all sorts of problems with everything smelling really bad.  I guess the smoke odor covered up the stale beer odor.  ANyways-  They're going to start spraying everything down at nights with some sort of bacterial or anti-bacterial agent to counteract the stale beer smell.

Should do like Hays does.  Two Oktoberfests.  One for the old fogeys, one for those of us that don't have 3' eyebrows and closet space for adult diapers.

Wrong.  Have been to the real oktoberfest in Munich.

Very much inside "tents" which are actually permanent structures.  Amusement park is outside though.
