Kind of starting to like them. Used to hate them because I don't smoke and most of them that would be given to me were cheap and tasted like dog crap and made me smell like dogshit and made me taste dogshit the next day. Then, somehow, someone gave me a good one and I realized how awesome they can be. Any advice? Recommendos? Etc.?
-
I know a dude that buys them online. I agree, I love good cigars but can't have them anymore.

agreed with the romeo y julieta but the petite dos is a little short for me.
Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Exhibicion #3 is my fav, they used to sell them @ the Capital Grill here in KC before smoking cigars became illegal in bars.

Did everyone's little kid doctor smoke a pipe and it smelled fantastic? I think that is the thing and junk
-
In high school I worked with a guy who smoked a pipe. Job required us to drive around several times a day. His truck smelled amazing.
-
One of my bros lived in san diego and had what he said were cubans and gave me one and I was all, "whatevs" and then I smoked it and I was all, "JFC this is amazing!" and then I realized that not all cigars were gross :dunno:

TRUE SD STORY: One of the cowboys that worked for sddad rolled his own smokes with that stuff. I was driving his truck to the other side of sddad's ranch or something at the age of about 12 and he had a big pouch of that stuff in the seat. Anyway, I put a huge pinch of it in my mouth to see if it was awesome or something....it wasn't.

Just smoked a cigar. No idea but it was dominican. Was mild not spicy. Paired it with a super expensive cognac that I have no clue about either. I spilled some of the cognac and got a stink eye. Tried to repent with a "hey this is really good cognac."
Worked out pretty well.
-
Don't really pretend to know about cigars/tobacco but I do know that Acid Cigars are declious. I think they're pretty common; the shitty Street Corner News store in the mall has them. Other cigars I've had that I enjoyed were Cohibas and Macanudos. Everything else I've had has sucked. Agreed that pipe tobacco is way more badass but nobody under the age of 80 seems to smoke it. Typically, I smoke Turkish Royals.
-
I used to smoke Nestors often. pretty good. pretty affordable.
also, Acid brand blows. ordered them once. they smelled horrible and smoked worse.
-
Just killed one of those Romeo and Juliet but in Spanish or whatevers. It was really good. $9 local and just Google and found out I can get them for $5 online if I buy a box.

When I am in Mex I get Cubans, but I won't try to bring them back. :guybehindbars:
Just take them out of the wrappers and put them in a humidor. Can't tell where they came from w/o wrappers.

Also why you can't bring them into the country if they have no identifying marks. You have to switch the wrappers. Or accept the fact that most Cuban cigars are mostly marketing since the biggest families and some of the very best rollers fled Cuba when Castro came to power. That doesn't mean there aren't good Cuban cigars out there, they're just not the ones that will show up in the duty free or hotel shops where people buy their cigars when traveling.
Look for pre-embargo Cubans, which are still legal and not really much more expensive. Also, the best cigar in the world today is the Fuente Opus X, the only 100 percent Dominican cigar and it's production is limited to ensure quality. You can find them on the Internet, but can only find them in shops east of the Mississippi.

I'd recommend Padron 3000. Great tasting maduro cigar. Also can't go wrong with the Olivo line.

Start off by saying the brown bag special from cigarsinternational.com is a great deal. 10 random, fine quality cigars at a great price of $20.
Also, becoming a huge fan of 5 Vegas
Also thinking about purchasing a second humidor.
-
I used to go to the humidor at Manhattan Town Center Mall quite a bit.

If you begin to smoke cigars on a regular basis (lets say one every week or two), do NOT buy from a local cigar shop. You can get twice the amount of quality cigars for the same or lower price online. I bought a 50 capacity humidor and 40 cigars under $140.00 including shipping at cigarsinternational.com. This goes for most online cigar websites.
-
Fuente Opus X robostos for me.
-
When we were in Mexico in December I smoked the hell out of Cuban Cohibas. Verdict? Same as other Cohibas but you feel much cooler. :gocho:

As you very well should.

I don't smoke them anymore. They make my mouth taste all yucky and stuff.
-
Plan on smoking one or two this weekend since the weather is supposed to start warming up. Humidor is still at 70/70. Going to be great.
-
Bro in law is buying a bunch of fancy cigars for younger bro's birthday which we are celebrating in vegas in a month

Bro in law should ask the tobacconist for the oiliest, darkest cigar he has. That would be the perfect birthday gift.

That sounds like a blast.

they are good to chew on, which is nice when its 10 degrees outside and you can't smoke inside anywhere other than Olathe
-
You can still smoke (inside) in Olathe? Weird.

There are a few cigar shops in KC that are legit to smoke at. Thing is you have to buy one there and smoke it. Can't bring your own (which is understandable). I think the one on Metcalf and 151st-ish is BYOB. They provide mixers.
-
The (west side) Humidor is at 21st and Tyler but it's not a bar. They do tend to have "private parties" where the have a free keg of beer or something but no liquor by the drink or anything like that.

some trashy bar by AMC 30. the place has awful ventilation to boot, it's awful

Starting Monday you can LEGALLY bring Cuban Cigars and Rum back into the US :Woot:
-
2 things, no one can tell the difference and cubans have always been available for :kstategrad:
-
Nice thread, never noticed this one.
I smoke one or two cigars a week, not regularly, but am learning a lot about them and enjoying it.
Will post in here from now on.
-
Quality will drop within six months as they try to ramp production. Goodbye flavor.
-
makes my mouth taste like butthole especially the next day. probably one of the reasons smokers usually gain weight when they stop smoking
-
I have had roughly 10 cubans and prefer black and milds
-
I like Cuban cigars. I also like the cheap Arturo fuente.
Agree that quality will suffer

I like some Padron best. No idea which one but I can show you where it is in the Hy-Vee humidor and it only costs $11. Have had cuban cohibas and some other ones and can't tell the difference.
-
I think part of the smoothness of Cubans is that you are smoking something that wasn't legal
-
My main problem with cigars is the time commitment. "Hey, want to hang out on the patio door 45 minutes?" Ain't nobody got time for that

yes only works on vacation

I smoke them alone late after kids are asleep

did you guys know that some people will hollow the tobacco out of the cigar and then fill it back up with indica strain marijuana? it's called a blunt.
-
That's amazing
-
I think that's urban legend
-
i used to remove the tobacco from black and milds, remove the glued paper insert, and then refill it with said tobacco. i believe the youths now call it "hyping"
-
Why would you do that
-
to get hyped
-
duh
-
Well crap

Really enjoyed this bourbon infused Gurkha...

Kids these days are removing the B&M tobacco and bonging it into their butts.
-
Knocked out an MCW (My Cuban Wheel) toro yesterday. What a difference 4 yrs. of aging does.

Last time I smoked a cigar was the night the Royals won the World Series. Also I almost puked.
