Post by: wetwillie on July 20, 2010, 02:53:43 PM
Best way to grill Brats?  Have seen the foil pan "beer bath" idea thrown around alot on the interwebs but there has to be a better way.... :crossfingers:

Over hot coals tongs in one hand, beer of choice in the other.

This is also known as "how real men grill"

You only start the brats in that . . . you finish on the grill.

I simmer in beer and onions for a couple hours and then brown them on the grill.  They are cooked when they go on the grill.

I just put them on the grill (closed lid) under low to medium heat for 20 minutes.  After about 12 minutes turn them once.

this is best way I've found to cook brats.  i don't cook them in onions/peppers and beer for hours but a good 30-45 minutes.  like cire said, that way they're basically cooked by the time they hit your grill and you're really only browning them on the grill.  it helps you avoid the grease fire drama and tastes great.

Agreed.

And then right before you place them on the bun, you dip them in a warm vat of this:

That's the Milwaukee way, which is to say THE way.
