Besides it being awesome, I got to thinking...
What would your token be if you worked for that company?!
I used to love those rubber popper toys but the only problem with them is I'd probably put it on my thumb and it'd shoot off and I'd lose the dang thing and be stuck between what I perceived was reality and a dreamworld.

I guess if we won the National Championship 3 years in a row in football I'd kind of figure it out though...
-
I would have rated it as "good" until the ending, then it became "great".
My token would be a 50 cent piece. Could spin it to see if it stops.
-
Loved it. My totem would be a Lego man.
-
I liked it, especially when it all came together in the end. Some what confused most of the time though. Don't be too harsh. :embarrassed:
-
When I watched Shutter Island I pretty much called that ending from 10 minutes in.

People were so proud for thinking of this "surprise ending", but it was made painfully obvious there were 2 endings that were possible. I just want to tell those people, congratulations, you passed a true/false test with one question on it.
-
Shutter Island looked stupid and predictable in the previews. It made me think inception would be dumb, too (sorry, Leo!)

How does a shootout in a zero gravity room equal dumb? It equals pure sex, my friend. Pure sex.

Haha, I had the exact same thought. And yes, opening scene in Shutter Island gave it away. But some friends dragged me to Inception, and it is definitely worth seeing.

Great movie. Only thing I didn't like was Joseph Gordon Leavitt as a badass.

I didn't think it was bad. Just weird.

This. He actually surprised me. The hotel scene was awesome with him. And the stairs.

I feel like leo really stepped out of his comfort zone with this new character
-
leo has been, for about the last 4 years, the best actor in hollywood. hands down.

They would've cast Heath Ledger to play him + the forgery/badass killing machine Aussie dude as one character, but he died. So they cast those two.

All this movie made me think of was that neuroscientists are working on drugs to limit the amount of sleep we need and we are understanding more every day about the human mind. I think slowing down time through perception will be possible and that looks terrifying.

i think he's English. Tom Hardy. He was actually in a very good movie about Charles Bronson.

Quit hatin' on Leavitt

I'd say it's been longer than that. Whatever year Catch Me if you Can came out, he started cranking out some pretty solid roles consistently since then.
-
thought it was pretty meh.

oh don't get me wrong, he's been making really great movies since 2002, but if you want to make it the last 8 years then leo has way more competition from depp, pitt, hanks and other dudes.
-
I just found myself not caring about the characters throughout the entire movie. It brought up some interesting questions, but it they were asked in such long and ridiculous roundabout way that it almost wasn't even worth it. The plot was so complicated (WE NEED A CHEMIST! NOW AN ARCHITECT! NEXT DREAM!), that it took away from its message.
Great idea, :meh: execution imo.
-
why is everyone watching this f*cking movie and talking about it? Jesus.
-
It was supposed to be complicated so that the viewer could have the "aha!" moment. You didn't have to be attached to the character to be moved by the train suicide or the building jump.
-
i remember at the end of godzilla (the one w/ matthew broderick) i was praying that every character in the movie would die. is inception this type of movie?
-
No, you want to know more about the characters, not to kill them.

I just didn't care, at all, about whether or not he would ever see his kids again.
The question about whether or not it is okay for him to create his own, fake reality, was the movie's only redeeming quality, imo.
Hats off to Ellen Paige for ruining the movie for me. Usually can't stand her, she was quite good in this. Thought it was a pretty good flick. Wish I hadn't known all the hype going in.
And yes LEO is the king right now and has been for the last 8 years or so.

Also, Levitt earned his stripes in this movie. He can look forward to a nice career push after this.

Tom Berenger

I don't see alot of actions films, but I thought it was REALLY entertaining after the first 30 minutes, like the original Matrix. Much better than the half-witted Avatar. And it's one of those movies that's worth seeing on the big screen to get the full effect.
Even if you fully accept the script writer's world, though, hoo boy, there were a few major failures of logic. Oh well, I don't think it's worth spending too much time dissecting. I'd definitely recommend.

Perfect description. Just like The Matrix, this movie is much better after a few drinks so you're not worried about the dissection. Just the basic storyline with amazing action sequences.

+1 She was good. I just couldn't get over the fact that she was someone other than Juno.

It was entertaining enough and the actors were good, but I don't understand the people who are saying "OMG! I've seen it twice and I'm going to see it 3 more times! It totally blew my mind!"
Have these people never seen The Matrix? There were just too many similarities between the two for me to be "blown away" by Inception. Then you take into consideration that The Matrix was about the fate of the world and Inception was about the fate of an energy corporation and a criminal who's going insane, and it just seemed a bit underwhelming.
I read that Christopher Nolan has been working on the Inception concept for quite a while, and only got the opportunity to see it realized now that he's had enough success with his other films. If that's the case, and he was working on this before The Matrix, then I feel kinda bad for him. He's got this great idea for an action/mindbender about bringing the subconscious to reality and all the ways you could play with physics in that scenario and invent new rules for the environment, and then the Wachowski bros go and totally one-up him a decade before he can make it.
-
just watched it...not impressed. i've seen better movies on youtube.

Shared dreams/altered realities were around long before the Matrix.

Every single moment of Inception is a dream.
Michael Caine's character implores Cobb to return to reality, to wake up. During the chase in Mombasa, Cobb tries to escape down an alleyway, and the two buildings between which he's running begin closing in on him - a classic anxiety dream moment. When he finally pulls himself free he finds Ken Watanabe's character waiting for him, against all logic. Except dream logic.
A dream, inside of a dream, inside of another dream, INSIDE OF ANOTHER FRACKING DREAM!!
:runaway:
But really, I'm not one of those people who is obsessed with this movie, but this article is pretty awesome.

Beautiful sequence there.
I saw it once and liked it but wasn't blown away. Do I need to see it at least four more times in the theatre before it takes on a Matrix-esque importance to me? Because I haven't watched The Matrix in literally five or more years. So basically it sucks.
