Title: Updates
Post by: DoDRepeat on July 15, 2010, 11:53:45 PM
Talked with some friends (sources), thought I'd share.

Its basically Coffman vs Klein. I was surprised by this and asked if he was any good.. Apparently he's fast.. I joked saying players say the same thing about Coffman.. Apparently he's 4.5 range fast, though. He doesn't throw as good of a ball as Coffman but he's way more physical/athletic and has better touch too. I inquired about Lamur and he's 100% out of it. Cosh is "annoying as hell" and isn't any good.

Running Backs look really good, won't just be the DT show. Tremaine Thompson has been the most surprising (except from Klein) and he's a starter. Compared him to Moreira with more speed. Harper isn't doing well.. Said he's lazy and doesn't know WR very well at all. Though he may turn it on once camp starts.

On the basketball front, they've got a friend who's "best friends" with Judge. They haven't heard anything (knew he hurt his neck, nothing serious) and they'll let me know once they find out on the transfer front.

Why? Did you not watch the spring game or listen to any of the other reports? Lamur sucks way worse than Coffman and Klein.

Knew Cosh was a D Bag just from his facebook statues.

Was worried about this with Harper.

Did they mention how many games they were going to win? I'd like to start making post-season plans now if I can, plus would like to set my expectation level appropriately.

There wasn't a prediction on wins, but they talked a lot about how the schedule is set up nicely and they think a bowl game is a certainty.

And yeah, apparently Coffman can put the ball wherever he needs it to go in practice...

I think Klein is a good athlete, and I have never quite understood why he wasn't given more a shot to play QB last year.

Instead we ended up giving all the time to Coffman and a 6th year senior transfer.   When instead Klein could have had a year under his belt as the starter.

But that's Old Balls handling the QB position for you and probably why it is used against K-State on the recruiting trail again, and again, and again and again.   Which is why OB and this staff can't recruit a QB to save their lives.

Some more rather pointless information for those who like to hear stories..

Jeremy Sutton apparently got laid after the spring game because the girl thought he was a star due to the #43 jerseys she saw at the game. Daniel Thomas is literally really really stupid. Once in the weight room he had an extra 110 lbs on the free squat bar because he counted wrong and didn't notice until someone saw his sheet. During film sessions coaches often say "Goddamnit DT" due to him missing the hole all the time (lot's of times he admits to not knowing which gap he was suppose to be hitting). He's "huge" compared to last season as well.

Heard a good story about Coffman.. during a spring practice he ran a simple qb read and juked Troy Butler out of his shoes and outran everyone for a TD. They said it was so funny cuz no one really got excited, everyone was just kinda in shock. Stories like that hurt our chances imo.

David Garrett is unbelievably quick and is the best cover corner in 7 on 7's. Heard a lot more positive talk about Klein too. Harold is looking really good as well.

Snyder has been swearing a lot lately, but after each time he apologizes. Stephen Harrison is hurt, dunno if that's been reported, not a good sign either way. Tannahill has the "best hands" on the team. Josh Cherry is one of the most popular guys.. weird.

Sorry that it's all random. Trying to remember everything that was said throughout the night. No update on Wally other than a sighting confirming the neck brace, but he was decked in purple.

If anyone has any specific questions you want asked let me know and I'll do what I can.

Always great to hear that we have multiple players absolutely "tearing it up" in practice as well as in the weight room.  From my experience I believe this will absolutely translate into wins on the football field of play.

So the rest of the North Texas stuff..

Basically it's been said that we're actively trying to get out of having to go there and trying to get it re-scheduled here. Snyder really isn't happy about it (every time he mentions it his tone changes) and obviously its just god awful scheduling in the first place. It came up in a meeting and a coach said something about how "we're trying to get that fixed" when the UNT game came up.

But now that I've thought about it, I don't really think it's going to happen. How would they be able to add it to the season ticket plans? Let alone all the contracts with vendors and everything. Seems too late to me. We can hope though..

seems like the only way it could work is if we pay them a sh*t ton of money.  adding it to the season ticket plans wouldn't be as tough as removing it from UNT's.  their (small) fanbase would be pissed.

if we do get it, ADJC should just make all tickets really cheap  ($10?) and not mess with the season ticket plans (except students, give them a ticket). just a thought  :dunno:

Damn, well if we keep adding an extra hundred pounds to his max in the weight room without him noticing then he will be "huge". Very Massa Seffish of Snyd's IMHO....

The math doesn't really add up.

$400,000 if we get 40k to buy tickets....

400k isn't exactly a crap ton of money.  If we have to buy UNT out in order to move the game, we're going to need to charge more than 10 bucks a tickets (students free!) to recoup the losses.

400k would be enough to pay UNT out. even if students get in free depending on the season we get 30-40k non student tickets.

plus parking first come first serve in both lots charge 7 dollar parking. and 1 dollar Programs.

would def end up being enough to pay them out imo.

Here are some guarantee game figures for FCS opponents in 2008.  I would assume that the figures would be slightly higher for a FBS team, two years later.

k soooo probably around 500k.

sell non student tickets for 15 bucks, 7 dollar parking to the first (how ever many our lot holds) cars. i think that'd add up to half a mil.  :dunno:

OB wants to help out the Manhattan area economy as much as possible

BTW, drove thru Denton on the way down to Galveston last week. N TX stadium is right off of I-35. Thought it was a high school stadium - what a dump. If I had a few extra minutes when I drove thru I would have stopped off at the stadium, taken a dump at the 50 yard line then it officially would have been MY dump.

Also, on a non-related N TX note, when I Galveston, the MAJORITY of Big XII garb I saw people wearing was aTm (by a landslide). Of courese UT was next, but I would have thought UT would be the winner down there.

At full price, no problem.  With free student tickets and $10 tickets for the rest of the stadium, it would be close.  That's why I said the math didn't add up.  I don't see any reason why the last game of the season should be discounted ahead of time.  If we suck at that point and look like the stadium is gonna be half full, offer cheap tickets at that point.  Our AD isn't exactly in the position to be turning down revenue at this point.

No dumbass, it isn't happening and never was going to happen.

And to the rough ridin' moron wanting to charge $10 per ticket.  Lets make the absolute brain dead assumption that North Texas would sell the biggest home game they've had potentially ever which also happens to be the last game ever in the history of their current stadium, for the rediculously low sum of $400,000.

HOW IN THE HELL IS KSU going to make any money?  Do you have a rough ridin' clue how much electricity, water, & trash costs for one game, not to mention paying the hundreds of people to pull the game off?  Next time you post please think about more than the piss & crap sitting in your adult diaper.

Also want to hear about the new 'wrinkles' LHCBS put in the playbook.

Planning on looking into the playbook myself once I get a chance. It's quite a bit larger than last years, though.

anymore info on UNT game being brought to EMAW land

No dumbass, it isn't happening and never was going to happen.

And to the fracking moron wanting to charge $10 per ticket.  Lets make the absolute brain dead assumption that North Texas would sell the biggest home game they've had potentially ever which also happens to be the last game ever in the history of their current stadium, for the rediculously low sum of $400,000.

HOW IN THE HELL IS KSU going to make any money?  Do you have a fracking clue how much electricity, water, & trash costs for one game, not to mention paying the hundreds of people to pull the game off?  Next time you post please think about more than the piss & crap sitting in your adult diaper.

After we go 5-7 (at best) this year thanks to his dad's sieve of a defense, we'll be able to fire dad without worrying about son getting sad and transferring, which will then allow us to hire a younger, more talented DC/recruiter whom we will be able to lure away from his current job by giving him a promotion to associate head coach/head coach in waiting. This will not be without risk, but at this point it would appear to be our best shot at long term success. If nothing else, perhaps our new HCIW's Red Bull-fueled recruiting trips (to paraphrase Dax) will bring in some better players over the next few years.

Wefald is gone....the new Administration has no such "baggage."

Also, I had always heard that it was a daughter or something....Ruth Ann sees kinda far fetched.  Christ, even in 1989 that would have been about 7 levels below beautiful Brent.

The probably are if you are Slammur.  Probably 365 pages of Fraggle Rock coloring pages and about 15 pages with detailed pictures of what an option should look like.

Agreed.  It's fairly universal from the smallest DIII to big schools.  And it is equally as meaningless.

something I thought was interesting is that he has a whole series of plays where the TE is ineligible.  noticed it during the ku game and then saw it again in the playbook.

That's what I was thinking.  I was trying like hell to think of any other instances where the TE would be inelgible.  Never heard an unbalanced line referred to like that.  We do that crap all the time, especially when we send one TE in motion while in a double TE set...
