Title: Huge Issue facing MBB and University
Post by: Pete on July 14, 2010, 09:19:21 AM
Where do they put the national championship sign?  Grumblings from Anderson Hall that they want to put it on the billboards where they normally advertise the family weekend, each are miles from their respective exits to 177 and Fort Riley Blvd....the rationale being that this way they won't detract from the "LHC Bill Snyder Highway" sign on the 177 exit off of I-70.

The basketball staff believes that the national championship signage should be placed prominently at the exits to the direct routes to the city (e.g. the 177 exit), and I agree.

There are some hurt feelings over this.  I hope that clearer heads prevail on this, because this could easily turn into a huge internal issue for the program...

ksu fans are so used to expecting championships every year that i think we sometimes forget that these things are big deals at other schools. my only issue is we put it up near the 88' debate nat'l champs sign on I-70 and we start to look a bit cocky. let's be classy dudes.

We need as many signs in as many locations as possible.  Really obnoxious ones.

I think we should display our National Championships like sooner fans do, by painting it on our pickup windows with white shoe polish, and by doing so we share it with fans wherever we go.  Window flags, of course are an option to gain attention to the art work

On TV screen outside gate at DFW, instead of 'Manhattan, KS' it should read 'NCAA Champions'

You guys are obviously new to controversial billboard placement.

This one was placed 20 miles north of Iowa City:
(https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdiamondgirl.mlblogs.com%2Fconfessions_of_female_bas%2Fimages%2Fcyclone20state.jpg&hash=710c2df406682b8d68f3d9e05dd80e0fb030aeae)

Everyone in Manhattan will already know you guys won a national title, or w/e you are trying to portray. The people who need to be reminded are KU fans... Put it up on the KTP (I-70) and K10 around Lawrence, and every other entrance into that town.

Nah, we'll just paint that on existing UK billboards.  You feeling alright, man?  You seem kinda slow today...
