I read all the back story on this. It started on the Something Awful forums. People basically altered photos to create scary or mythological things in them. One guy created the slender man. It took off from there. It's been around for a couple years, but it's still going on. Really cool stuff that a forum of strange creative people just made.

I had no idea what it was.  So i researched it before hand and got the scoop.  I didn't want to end up watching some "3 guys one hammer type stuff"

Watched the first 3.  Is this going to be one of those things where things/people/whatever jump out at random?  hate crap like that.  or is this more like a blair witch type thing where you don't ever really see scary things?

I've officially accomplished nothing at work today as I've spent the entire morning reading about the slender man.

Definitely read the Something Awful thread where this originated.

Not bad for just a couple of students.  I'm entertained.  Of course, I liked the Blair Witch Project.  You know these things are fake going into it, but even so they feel more real than the big budget hollywood productions, which is what makes them appealing.

Is it over or are they going to make more?

I had a marathon session today.  Watched all 26.5 plus a few supplement vids.  I'm pretty sure it's done, been a couple months since the last one was put up.  Not bad, the Blair Witchish camera crap kinda gives me a headache though.

me and my then gf saw blair witch in the theatres, and she was convinced it was real. to the point that she was yelling at people that were leaving at the end of the movie who didn't seem as appalled as she was. god she was a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

I was a projectionist when that movie came out.   We screened it 4 days before it was released and had any buzz.  I totally thought it was real until people started dieing.   Also, that movie was a puke/siezure fest.   We had atleast 1 person a day have a siezure from the slower frame rate that 8mm apparently has.  And all of the movement back & forth was making people motion sick and puking all over the place.   totally sucked to be on the clean-up crew.

I loved BWP the first time I saw it.  didn't really hold up to re watching though.

Finally got around to watching MH 2 nights ago.  Good stuff.  Slender Man freaks me right the eff out.  Gotta agree with Cire, BWP just wasn't the same the 2nd time around.  I imagine that would hold true with Paranormal Events and MH.  (The only three things I have found genuinely scary in recent memory.)

Those are so much more in line with the horror movies of old.  The scare came from the mind of the viewer, the anticipation of what might be there.  Very much in line with the Alfred Hitchcock type of horror flick.

*edit-  Paranormal Activity, I always call it the wrong thing.

Why I'll argue that the first Jaws was scary as crap when I was a little kid.   So many rough ridin' nightmares.   so, so many.  :frown:

Jaws is solely responsible for my fear of swimming in any large body of water.  I'll do it, but I'm still always a little afraid something is going to eat me.
