If we find another QB that can keep CC on the bench, 6. Otherwise, maybe half that.

new conf, new rules

If we find another QB that can keep CC on the bench, 6. Otherwise, maybe half that.
nobody can be as bad as gregory was last year and they still won six. i'll say six wins regardless of who the qb is.
-
I agree with Ricky D here. We upgrade at pretty much every spot, either from experience or addition of new players. We'll win at least 6, maybe as many as 8. If we do win 8, I will fellate myself for the duration of our bowl game.

Eh, I think we get a significant downgrade at defensive line (especially if the Adam Davis rumors are true) and we'll be as bad as ever at the LB spot (absolutely dreadful).

Daniel Thomas leading the cats to 8 wins

CC was there last yr and was beat out by a kid with no rotator muscles left. kinda like a QB special olympics, and CC was still kicked to the pine. Why, all of a sudden, does CC have to be as good as the guy who took his job from him?

whoever the qb is this year (even coffman) will be better than gregory was last year and suggesting that some other qb on the roster will make a + three game win difference simply by beating out coffman is quite possibly the dumbest thing i've read on here in a while. there is not a qb on the roster that is better than him, more/less that much better. a senior ell roberson isn't coming out of that locker room tardo.

And I don't really think we need a good quarterback. As long as we have some one who can get some of the pressure of DT, I think we'll have a pretty productive offense. Plus, having Harper, and Broderick Smith at receiver should help out (although who knows, ya know?).
-
Dude, lat year we had on OLB and a QB playing on the dline. It's not going to be worse, with or without Davis.
-
I think that we will be pretty decent.
For sure's: @UNT, Missouri St., UCF,
Pretty confident that the EMAW wins: @CU, UCLA, @KU,
Toss Up: @Mizzou (leaning toward a loss pretty heavily though), Farmaggedon (rivalry), @ Baylor (stud QB could kill us), Okie State (Think we will win, just a hunch), vs. NU (Could be pretty even, like our chances, will be angered up though for sure)
Loss is probable: vs. Texas (they are due...)
So with all this being said...
best case: 9-3
worst case: 5-7
cas's predicty: 7-5

OSU a loss? Do you realize they lost everybody from last season?
-
We're going to be coming off a loss at Baylor and will be looking ahead to the CTR. Classic trap game.
-
8 wins is the best. DT gets 1,300-1,500 yds and 15 TDS. And is nominated for major fball awards. And the cats win their prestigeous bowl game.

I personally haven't seen the other options play QB yet, but can't imagine it being hard to beat the CC we saw last year.
Really hope he has improved because last year he couldn't make decisions during a rush, had a hard time hitting receivers, and was not as good running as our busted up Gregory.
Other than hope for improvement, I don't know what this leaves you with.

it wont trust me
but seriously i think it will be ok. not as good as last year but decent imo

It definitely is, but I guess that's when having a good run game helps out. It "shortens the game," or something.

Do not understand this point at all. Coffman lost his spot to a guy who showed up in late August and COULDN'T THROW A FOOTBALL. Coffman 10 may be better than Coffman 09, but I see no reason for optimism at QB (blind hope maybe, but not optimism or even cautiously hopeful realism).

Can't believe all you guys are discounting UCLA.....they are 41 in Phil Steele's "power poll" to KSU's 66.

gregory got there in june, not august. he was also a sixth year senior who had pretty much the same amount of time in the new offensive system as coffman did. in games where they both played significant snaps last year, gregory looked worse and was less productive. coffman has a stronger arm and now coffman and the entire offense has another year in the system as well. also, i don't have optimism for him. i think he's not very good. same thing i thought about gregory. still don't see why cats can't six games with him.
-
The only way we have a chance with Coffman is if he became more athletic, learned how to run the option and reworked his throwing motion so that his delivery didn't take three-mississippis. No chance on the first one. The second one seems possible. But the third would be tough (but also doable, I suppose, since it involves "coaching up").
I mean, he lost to ULL.
-
People are largely overvaluing the strength or our schedule. None of those teams are going to be world beaters next season.
I say we get 7 wins, 8 if our defense is slightly better than last year, and 9 if its dramatically improved.
Disclaimer: If Daniel Thomas gets hurt, this prediction is null and void.
Also: Dick Daris has been pretty much spot on with everything his typed

lol. coffman didn't lose to ULL gregorytard. gregory did. every single gregory posession in that game was an absolute waste. coffman tried to rally, but it was too late. cats win that game if gregory would've just missed the flight. rough ridin' gregorytards. jesus.
-
CC's footwork did appear to be improved during the SG. I think that was a major cause for many of his horrible throws in the flats. Regardless, he appears to be our best option, so may as we'll get used to it. Still say 7 wins, plus/minus 1 win.

Our f*cking candy-ass kicker lost our game against ULL. He missed 3 chip shots in that game :chainsaw:

Daris, Gregory played threw four passes against Lafayette. Coffman threw 25. ""Every Single Possession" of Gregory's constitutes to about 2.
-
Too be fair, Gregory could play an entire half and only throw 4 passes. Especially in the rain.

That's true, but seriously, he played no more than 3 possessions against Lafayette. Unequivocally, Gregory was the better quarterback last year. As for this year, who knows who our best quarterback is? Billy Cosh :dunno:

gee, thanks dlew. did you know that coffman had to throw all of those passes because gregory wasted a full quarter of the game by sucking ass and leading three drives that accumulated 17 yards and no first downs? nine plays, four incomplete passes, seventeen yards, no first downs. wasted good field position too. gregory was the quarterback of around 25% of the offensive drives that game and he didn't manage to get a first down. that rough ridin' loser cost the cats a bowl game and all you gregorytards can do is just sit around and complain about coffman. give me a break.
-
Gregory sucked last year. Carson sucked worse.
Maybe Carson will be better this year.
-
Gregory sucked last year. Carson sucked worse.
yeah. people certainly say this. i've seen absolutely no visual or statistical evidence to back it up though. in fact, in games where they both played significant snaps, the coffman offense produced more. gregory did have that one severely underthrown pass that banks made an incredible play on in the iowa state game though. maybe that makes them even. dunno. :dunno:

I don't like either fwiw. If Sams were eligible as a 16 year old I would fight rick daris over series successfulness or whatever to get him on the field. But, going back to the post, Gregory sucked ass.

i dislike them both too. i just don't get the coffman overhate and the gregory underhate. they are both to be disliked about equally. except gregory more because of that bowl game we didn't get to go to because of him.

This is why I just keep re-watching zacker's video and hoping that Klein will start. At least he's not confirmed as terrible.
-
Just think dude- Klein was beat out by Gregory and Coffman last year. Suckiness confirmed.

No, I can rationalize by saying he was a freshman. And I can pretend he's fast because he played WR. DO NOT TAKE THIS FROM ME.

I just can't fathom Coffman being the starter.
-
I have convinced myself that CK is the second coming, and will be insanely improved this year, thus making him a decent quarterback. So we should be fine. On the other hand, I had convinced myself prior to the spring game that slamur was the spawn on Michael Bishop and Ell Roberson so I have been wrong before.
-
I am so excited about this upcoming season. And really, that alone is an improvement over the RP era. I'm so pumped for what our team could do on the field, but the quarterback position is such a question mark. I just don't see how Carson Coffman will be a passable quarterback in Big 12 play if he is our starter. With that said, here's what I think about our schedule:
Sept. 4 - UCLA (LOSS)
Sept. 11 - Missouri State (WIN)
Sept. 18 - #Iowa State (WIN)
Sept. 25 - Central Florida (WIN)
Oct. 7 - Nebraska (LOSS)
Oct. 14 - @Kansas (WIN)
Oct. 23 - @Baylor (LOSS)
Oct. 30 - Oklahoma State (WIN)
Nov. 6 - Texas (LOSS)
Nov. 13 - @Missouri (LOSS)
Nov. 20 - @Colorado (WIN)
Nov. 27 - @North Texas (WIN)
Let's hope Coffman, or whoever wins the quarterback job, takes the UCLA game as a learning experience. As good as the D-Train is, I don't think we can defeat a likely top-40 team in the country in the first game of the season with our quarterback situation. If we win that game, it could make for a great start to the season. To keep our bowl hopes alive, we need to come away with two wins from the @KU/@BU/OSU/UT stretch. That would likely give us a 5-5 record entering the final two games of the season, which I think are very winnable. I'll say 7-5 for now, which I still think is pretty optimistic. I say the low-end is 5 wins and the high-end is 9 wins. Pretty much what this season boils down to is having gimme's in Missouri State and North Texas; all we have to do is find four wins in between those games to reach a bowl game.
