TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Basketball is hard => Topic started by: EMAWzifried on March 17, 2025, 03:13:36 PM

I'll be rooting against all SEC teams. Our resume last year was every bit as strong as that of Georgia and Texas this year, much less UNC -- yeah, I know they are not SEC. I even have to cheer for KU in the first round because of the shame of a farse
-
14 teams is stupid. I bet most will lose in the first or second round.
-
I mean even if there were 14 deserving teams the odds are most will lose in the first two rounds…
I don’t really feel qualified as a basketball watcher to second guess the committee’s choices, but I do feel qualified as a Cats fan to say we did nothing to warrant a bid this year or last year.
-
Oh no we don't. But Indiana and WV probably feel different
-
Incredibly disappointing. Being one game under .500 in your conference use to be a death nail. Tang needs to understand how to work the NET.
On another note, I just saw Self on the sports portion on the NBC news. Unshaven and face red as a beet. He apparently is taking his 7 seed seriously. It's good to see.
-
I hope Calipari beats his ass, I'm normally TSC but not this time.
-
Cal vs Self
Smarmageddon
-
Texas booted ingloriously. Kaluma just kept getting worse as the season went on.
-
Starting to see what a joke this was but it won't change a thing. I do love the crap out of it though.
-
Northwest Missouri coasts by Missouri. What tourney losers they are.
-

The Drake win was the highlight of Day 1 for me.
Found myself cheering for KU against Coach Cal and the SEC.
What happened to Hunter Dickinson? He is regressing every year.
The fact that Pitino is still allowed to coach just shows how rotten much of this has become.
-
Stirtz is very fun to watch

It won't happen, but... would be nice if McCollum parlays this into a better job and then Stirtz enters the portal and follows his heart to MHK.
I mean, it worked for Mayo/KU this year... why not us?
-
I think he's going to follow McCollum to whatever job he gets

I can see the first half of this scenario happening. Iowa should have some interest.

Baylor and Miss State locked up in a good game at half. Need the Bears to bring it home in this battle of midlings in respective conferences.

Let's go Bears. Get these SEC scrubs out of the March Madness..
-
Baylor gets it done. Alabama less than impressive. SEC exposedd and proving to be so overrated. Look for St. Mary"s to beat Vandy.
-
The SEC has really good basketball this year, don't have to get worked up about it.
-
I think he's going to follow McCollum to whatever job he gets
It's going to be Ben or his girlfriend then. Wherever Ben goes, even if it's Iowa City, it's going to take him even further away from his lady friend.
-
Vandy joins the growing SEC overflowing dumpster.
-
Florida (SEC) looks really good.
-
My pro Todd Golden posts from a few years back are looking really good. That Chongs knows his basketball.

A little too rapey for my taste
-
SEC will be at least 1/4 of the round of 32. That's a record folks.
Maybe they and the Big 10 should break away, they're about to be half of the tournament.
-
The Saturday/Sunday of 3 stand alone games early in the day and then the other 5 stacked up at the end sucks IMO
-
My distaste for the SEC notwithstanding, Coach Cal is having quite a redemption tour with wins against Self and Pitino, two coaches generally viewed as superior to him.
-

Given his level of sleaze, it's kind of surprising that Pitino also didn't come from the Larry Brown coaching tree...
In a winner-take-all battle between Pitino and Calipari for the douchiest/cheatiest coach, it would be a simultaneous knockout in the 15th round
-
That BYU - Wisconsin game was crazy. That flagrant 2 was total b.s. but BYU survives and still makes KU the only Big 12 team to have lost. (ftp://:cry:)
-
No Cinderellas, kind of boring IMO

Colorado State and New Mexico have a chance to wear thee slipper.

I bet Mike from ft Collins has been experiencing priapism

How hard do we TSC today?
Cheering for Baylor over Duke is an easy one.
Cheering for Iowa St would normally be impossible but I hate woman beaters more than I hate Iowa St.
Cheering for Arizona over Oregon is easy for me but I don't have a logical reason. I just found myself cheering for the Zona Cats through the Big XII tournament and harder than average for the first round. And their coach seems awesome. I think it's really cool that after his international basketball career, he backpacked for a while with his wife before coming back to the US to pursue coaching.
-
TSC hard today. Rooting for Chris Beard would be nausea inducing.

This.

I just can't cheer for Otz. I can't.
I can't cheer for Beard either though.
What a conundrum.

Only one of them has been arrested for domestic violence even if they both look like they have
-
I know I know. I just hate him so much
-
O wow, Iowa State letting down their fans and the rest of the nation once again. What a surprise. Maybe Coach Howdy Doodie should try to get his players to try playing defense?

Definitely letting down the :tsc: side right now.
-
"We beat them by 19 points in Hilton". This is what I'm thinking right now as I reflect on taking them so far in this tourney. The only thing that will make me happy now is Iowa St. making a comeback and Oz fist pumping his fist on a time out like he did with us and then getting killed again.... or the camera panning to Chris Beard and him sneaking a drink from a flask.
-
Everything working for Oregon, rn.
-

The only thing to do when you hate both coaches is really celebrate whoever got their face mushed.

Yeah, they need to set it up so there are at least 2 games going at all times.

I'm mildly surprised to see the teams we are grouped with there.

I mean, we got pretty darn good history. I think we're also like pretty high on the # of Elite 8s, and pretty high on the S16s.

That graph shows where we're at with Sweet 16s dude.

Look at those texas numbers lol

Looks like we are basically even w/ UCONN, they just go on and win twice as many games per tourney appearance.

Otz teams don't play defense because he can't teach them to put their hands up.
-
this is very interesting also. SIAP

I bend a knee to our SEC overlords. With FF be an all SEC affair?
-
Nah, Duke ain't losing before the F4, and I doubt they lose after that.
-
Arkansas mumped themselves tech is going to win this game.
-

Not at all. I think they only get 1 in

I know we joke about it a lot but these games really are on too late at night. The network has decided to slow roll these things I guess to get more eyes for advertisers. I’d be surprised if it’s not having a negative effect though.

Concur for me except I want Florida at 6 and then Auburn and then bama. Just don't want football schools to really have that much success in other things

I dilodn't think they can for two halves though
-
Williams is a lot of fun, he talks a lot of crap but backs it up.
-
Well well well
-
Guns up
-
Tech is so tough.
Going iso w/ Williams and he just big-boyed them like 90s NBA.
Dude just dominated both ends of the floor for that stretch.
-
Clayton Jr is a lethal weapon
-
Tech shat the bed big-time there
-
Duke might be unbeatable

Duke might be unbeatable
slow down, they’re only playing alabama
houston will give it to them

They look awesome.

houston’s orebs so good
-

Yeah, has they pulled it off we could have had Sparty end the SECs run right there. That whole conference for sure not head and shoulders above
-
If Broome can play, I don't think Florida can stop Auburn again. But you never know.
-
Auburn is the worst of the four remaining teams.
-
Duke has had the easiest time. Houston seems to have a blow out then a close game.
-
Auburn is the worst of the four remaining teams.
yoked
-
Gator cats are v good
-
The level of athleticism on the floor in this Duke UH game is unreal.

Houston taking a lot of really hard shots.

There's puddles under the legs of all the Dukies. Shoutout to all the Big 12 coaches, Sampson says.
-
Holy crap they are tough. That was one of the best comebacks I’ve seen on a big stage. When they were red hot from three but still couldn’t cut into the lead, I thought they were done. That was pretty awesome to watch!
-
What a great game! I just wanted them to cover and they actually came back and won it. I think they were on the bad side of a couple of calls too which could have buried them. Damn.
-
So crazy
-
"We didn't play in no top poodle league."
-
Florida opens as a 1.5 favorite?? (ftp://:eek:)

Hopefully they beat Florida and all this SEC talk goes with it. Like outside of UConn the rest of y'all cant be the Big 12. I'm glad Sampson knows to do that since they'd slob all the others knob on this
-
Just bought tickets to go to the game, guys! :excited:

They know, they know

houston was the better team for 38 minutes tonight, what transpired is nightmare fuel for those kids

i’ve rewatched their final play several times and can’t figure out what kelvin drew up

What he didn't draw up at any point in the last 10 minutes was how to handle the blitzing of Houstons primary ball handlers around the perimeter. Just had no answer for that and it was pretty shocking.

Exactly. Tracy Wolfson said Sampson's message in the huddle was to be tougher. Like, how is being tougher supposed to help with perimeter pressure???

I think it's good for Kansas State basketball fans to see. You can't rely on the coach to draw up plays and get buckets in close games even if you have one of the best teams in the country. Both because mistakes happen and great defenses are all about disrupting plays coaches draw up.
The other good reminder is that great teams just don't have very many close games. No one remembers late game plays when you win by 15 every night.

yeah I heard one of the announcers talking about the blitzing which stood out because i’ve been watching basketball my entire life and have never heard it described like that.
whatever- they would have been better to not have called the timeout
i’ve also never heard anyone butchering a name like charles was butchering kelvin’s after the game

Yeah, idk how much only have 1 TO was but I was hoping when the Florida foul + Tech was going to give him enough time to help do something, there was still like 4 minutes in the game, It was like he was a little too hands off.
Also Houston missed some pretty easy inside shots while also taking horrible inside shots. Their defense did the job, they absolutely harassed Florida all game.
I feel awful for Houston, essentially solidified themselves as the best program to never win it all. 7 FF, 3 title game appearances and losses. That last possession will haunt them until they win it all.
-

I only watched the last 10 minutes but Houston was frantic the whole time. Nearly every shot was a floater, leaner, or step-back. When they actually made one, it was usually off tip-ins or putbacks.
Houston not even getting shots up during those last possessions is a painful way to lose.
-
The game seemed to turn when Florida got that tech. After that Houston racked up like five or six fouls in like a minute or so. Good call by the assistant on the bench.

On the first tech, for sure. It definitely woke up Florida, and Houston was getting called for a ton of fouls. I honestly thought the second tech though was going to end it. It came at an completely inopportune time for Florida and was totally unforced by their player (and he knew it). But still, 4 foul shots which Houston made 3 of them, but it really only held it off longer.

There was a bigger time gap between the two than I thought.
