Title: Is Tang too nice a guy?
Post by: EMAWzifried on November 25, 2024, 12:08:04 PM
Maybe a little less coaching from "love." A little Frank anger might get more effort out of the team. In his post-game of the latest shitshow, he was all positive about getting the shot we wanted and a second-chance from N'G, but nothing about the poor rebounding/defense that put us in the position to lose.

I was happy to see Tang really get after Dug after his third first half turnover. Since then no more TOs with four steals and six assists.

I sat in first row behind the bench for the second half.  He was red assing players and coaches.  Also, during time outs he was not in the player huddle.  Some other coach was

Dunno if original post is serious. Embrace Tang guys, best chance at a natty we will ever have.

Now, it could go horribly. But his vision is exactly what we want. (Sorry, haven't been on this board in awhile and just found it again, dunno why i sound like i'm preaching).

When it comes to "vision" I honestly think all coaches are trying to figure out the NIL thing and that will lead to a lot of ups and downs for a ton of programs. I think someone is going to break through with consistent stable rosters eventually though. But who knows honestly

Otz already figured out the stable roster

I think he was initially out on NIL bullshit. Just wanted to build a good team and locker room. The west virginia power forwards were hard on him. (asking for new money after they were already basically signed).

He came here to coach. He loves this crap. The Hawkins deal shows me he's is adapting to the new environment. Are the initial returns on that deal good? No. But we don't have a lot of data yet. I do think he's the kind of guy who isn't going to accept losing for too long. We'll see.

did he? or did he find a group of players in the 2023 cycle that performed well together? It's mighty bold to declare that any coach has that figured out, seems pretty tenuous.

That's what continuity is in the modern basketball landscape.   Tang has an opportunity to do it next year hopefully if he can retain his players with more eligibility.

It does appear that he's found the right mix of 3-4 year guys and transfers.  :dunno:
