From a financial perspective that is absolutely true. The mid to lower tiers of the SEC are absolutely defined by schools and fanbases who are just happy to be here/there.
There is a group of SEC schools that collectively haven't won a conference football championship in over 5 centuries.

Being from an ancient civilization, I'm bummed to see Oklahoma leave after having grown up watching the land thieves beat the Cats like rented mules. Now that K-State is more or less playing even with OU, the Sooners leave the conference. That sucks. Texas....well they mump up every conference they're a part of, so you could probably estimate there to be Texas problems in the SEC within the next dozen years or so.

I mean we got Colorado back, who knows maybe Mizzou and OU and Nubbs return at some point. At this juncture anything is possible.

I programmed my TV to play the Barney theme song in place of the Boomer Sooner song. You hear an awful lot of "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family" during OU games, but it's better than what I'd otherwise hear.

Same. The original Big 8 was just such a solid conference.

Without a doubt. They'll be one of the first to start crying about how some of the "happy to be there" schools in the conference aren't pulling their weight and are killing TV ratings. With them it's just a matter of time.

serious question does that song have any lyrics other than boomer sooner? I mean it kinda doesn't work to just repeat boomer sooner over and over again b/c you'd end on a "soon" without the "er" but i doubt such things would be a deterrent for your typical OU fan.
