I tried to read an article about the US victory and every sentence had two words that completely baffled me.

Go to the World Cup if you can because cricket is weird and the national team is apparently good  :horrorsurprise:

I think the US winning was termed the greatest upset in the history of Cricket so I am not sure how good we are.  But definitely go to the World Cup.

Also, I went down a rabbit hole on X about cricket players vs. baseball players.  Cricket fans are convinced that cricket players are superior because they don't wear a glove.

I think we all know that baseball players are superior because they are better athletes in every way.  Check out how this baseball player adjusts his game on the fly and absolutely rakes in 20 pitches, or bowls, or whatever, while cricket guy is complete ass at baseball.

Also, I lived with an Indian for a semester, and he tried to explain cricket to me multiple times, and I didn't retain any of it.

I think though the biggest things not covered in that video for cricket was the ability to get a wicket by either

a) knocking it off with a bowled ball (which is basically what the bowler/pitcher is trying to do) or
b) knocking the wicket off by a fielder who throws the ball on a hit play and is able to get it there before the runner crosses the "safe" line, which is like a forced throw out in baseball.

Finally c) if you don't hit it over the boundary line (the 6 run HR he refer to) but rather hit it to the boundary line (or it hops over or whatever) that's 4 runs.

Else the rest is pretty much like baseball, just you're in the center of the field so there is no such thing as a "foul" ball, and the batter can for example just jack one completely behind him if he's able to.

There's some weirdness things but those are pretty small in terms of the grand scheme of the game.
