Also, really interesting how much this season we have started vs UCF, football, mens and women's basketball
-
Finnister is going to be the David N’Guessan of our back court.
-
I'm trying to remember a ksu guard with a worse looking 3 point shot than Dai Dai. I'm sure oscar had one.
-
Well, good win, hopefully can win at hapless WV before the real doozy starts

Is Buddy playing only a few minutes a game to save the rims at the OOD?

:frown:
what is going on here???

I think it's like Frank and Jamar in the early days. Still working out the kinks on expectations probably

Someone on KSO made what I felt was a pretty prescient point regarding Tang toward the end of today’s game.
Basically the poster said that Tang “masquerades” as a modern players coach, but is in actuality very old-school.
Masquerading is imo inaccurate. Tang is very modern as a promoter of the team, school, etc. He is a big cheerleader. He does all the right things in front of the camera. But it isn’t fake. It’s real.
I do agree with the poster that Tang is old school in terms of what he expects from his players and how he manages his roster. What we witnessed during the UCF blowout — playing 7 guys until the final 2 minutes of game time — is legitimate Frank “buy in or quit” type stuff.
There really is no other way to explain it not going deeper into the bench.
Sending Colbert, Rich, Manning and RJ with 2 minutes to play in a game you know they were pining to get “meaningful” minutes in was an absolute message, and you can bet your ass Tang and Co were eyeing their effort level.
The only one that didn’t make sense was Manning, who Tang praised following Chicago St.

well, I mean, it only takes one practice to get on a coach's crap list
source: me, who did that shitloads of times
-
Perry passed on a wide-open 3 early in the second half, only to have Tang yell at him to "shoot"as he came to a time out. He then went on his binge.
Hopefully the doubts that crawled into his head have been dispelled with tonight's performance.

Y'all are really overthinking this. The coaches have built a roster of capable players, a lot of which are young. The guys in the top 7 of the rotation all belong there. The only real decision there is McNair/Manning/Colbert but even for his occasionally bonehead and clumsy play, it seems to me that McNair should be getting the bulk of those minutes. Dai Dai wouldn't be playing as much as he is if Ques didn't get hurt.
-
Agree on McNair. He's a capable big, and actually pretty good for short stretches imo. Tires easy.
Great point on Ames and Glover.
But what do you make of sitting everyone else until 2-minutes left in the game up by as many as 35 in a game that was never in doubt?
-
I think our wing/big rotation should be Kaluma, McNair, DNG, Buddy. Guard rotation Perry, Cam, Dai Dai. Tang is using Dorian as a message to Buddy/RJ on what it takes to get into the rotation I think.
-
I think Dorian looked decent yesterday and the game before. I think he is going to be serviceable.

Played admirably, especially once he got his feet under him in the second half. Only a freshman.

That's essentially garbage time, he wasn't putting them in before the three minute mark, coaches are weird about that crap.

Right, pretty much a "this is what you've earned, now let's see how you respond" type of thing.
