It wasn't great.
-
No energy, especially in the second half. Miss Nowell's fire on the floor. There's no leadership stepping holding team accountable. And Kaluma just isn't a shooter, which I think is obvious to everyone but him. Second half defense was just horrid.
Need Tomlin back bad.,
-
I thought it was fine. :dunno:
Missie should always do color for the men's games
-
Didnt watch a single second but willing to imagine getting this team time to figure things out is fine/normal.

She a baller?

It’s because it’s not Tanguary yet dummy
-
Didn’t watch and I saw we won so seems like we are pretty good
-
If a team looks bad in an espn+ forest…

Peggy Po's
1. TP2 is a really good shooter
2. Dai Dai is emerging as our lead PG
3. Cam plays great D and can still get to the rack
4. McNair is quality depth in the post
1. Kaluma is a big drop off from KJ
2. No leader on the floor
3. Team defense when our best offensive lineup is in, is atrocious.
-
Our help D and off ball D near the basket is not good.
-
The defense being bad is just all the new guys figuring it out.
Much more concerned if this offense is gonna work

Art is kind of the turd in the punch bowl offensively right now. Not getting nearly enough out of him. Hoping RJ comes on a bit more too, he's someone that should be able to get his own shot on offense.

When ask in the post-game interview what Kaluma needed to do to improve his offensive production, Tang said "buy in" twice very tersely. I suppose that means taking shots off the offense and not jacking up jumpshots.

Yeah, we're fine. Looked like crap early last year too. The defense needs work but it will be better.
Having Missy do sidelines while Stan Weber is the analyst is absolutely mumped up. Ben Boyle is a sack of crap for that.

Should have had her do pbp, and let the student reporter do sideline. This year's student reporter is really good from what I've seen.

Also, Stan is laughably bad. Like it's almost endearing how bad he is

I was forced into Wyattvision for a bit during the Fball game yesterday and I was reminded that Stan is the consummate mansplainer who cannot explain the action on the field (or court) succinctly.
I enjoy Missy on the TV, and Matt W pretty good on color for b-ball radio.

i feel like missy tries to hard but she (read: anyone) is better than ben boyle

I agree with most of this. We look like a bunch of really talented players (dudes) who haven't played together as a structured team (& without assertive leadership) for enough time yet. Coach & the staff need to keep pushing & pruning in developmental ways. Also, there are few leaders on the planet like Markquis Nowell. And, there are even fewer PGs who can do what he does. I suspect Ques coming back - if he is the pure PG that I understand him to be - will be a big help. We will have some frustrating evenings (like the USC game). There will be some flashes of brilliance (Cam's dunk, Dai Dai's razzle & dazzle). I look forward to seeing how we look in late January through March.
-
To be fair, no team this early in the year is going to look impressive against a juggernaut like Bellarmine.

On the basketball board his name should be Spraquille O’Neal (mods?)

Yo, I wasn't in the hype after the exhibition like some were, but what in the eff happened to Buddy Rich? He played for maybe 1 minute against USC but haven't been seen since.

I thought I heard that he had a knee issue and will be out 4-6 weeks.
Same question for Ques, though.

Ques is out, not Buddy.

Tomlin/suspension question:
Is it common for suspended players to not be behind the bench or something like that? I haven’t been able to see him anywhere around the bench the last two games. Seems like they would sit him behind everyone.

Could be defensive effort keeping him from seeing more minutes but I'm just speculating. I think one of the coaches was getting after him in the exhibition about it. I didn't watch all of the second half of USC so I didn't see his 5 minutes.

Yes, very common. If it's an NCAA or conference suspension, the player isn't even allowed with the team. In this specific case, Tang was pretty clear that Tomlin was going to be away from the team. I actually think he's serving the NCAA suspension and not one from K-State basketball from whatever happened at Tubby's.
