What in the world?
-
It was pretty LoL
-
sums it up all right. playing not to lose.
-
Ward’s slide was meaningless, good grief
-
Ward I didn’t mind cause he was dead to rights. Save the body and get the chance for a cheap 15 yarder imo.
-
Howard’s was also a good slide assuming he was hurt badly enough he shouldn’t even have been on the field, which appeared to be the case.
-
Howard had an easy first down. I was OK with Ward’s because I was mostly worried about one of those three defenders punching it out

My take as well. But neither were the most egregious displays of ineptness on offense this game imo (playcalling).

Yea we lost because of our refusal to pull him out of the game in the 4th. I mean he took a delay of game on the 3 yard line, he just couldn't hack today with the leg. I think we win comfortably if he was healthy the whole game.
-
I actually think Howard had some pretty good form on the slide when he could have gotten a first down and kept the drive alive but didn't and we ended up punting because he slid too early.
-
we all agree the slide lost the game, yes?
-
I don't really understand why in college you wouldn't just dive forward in both situations. If you get hit after a body part touches the ground, it's still a late hit. And probably safer than getting Trent Green'd.
-
we’re undoubtedly the worst sliding team in division 1 football, how have we fallen so far? for years we were known nationally for our sliding but somewhere along the way we got tripped up and now we’re an embarrassment to our much lauded sliders from the glory days.

I’m (rightly) concerned we just lost any shot at an NIL pairing with White Castle bc they (rightly) only want their brand associated with good sliders

Krystal might be down to clown

with a team full of suboptimal sliders, our national credibility is going to drop dramatically. does anyone really believe that College Game Day is about to visit Manhattan, KS when our players can’t even execute a solid slide?
yes, of course Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will still probably happen, but everyone knows that Fox puts a lot less value on sliding than ESPN does. welcome to MHK, Fox.
-
Gus, Joel, and Rupert Murdoch between the 3 of them give exactly 0 effs about quality slides and that’s a fact, jack

The portal was created to address this specifically

Because diving doesn't protect you from getting hit. Ward was fine sliding because of he dove he was going to get lit up. Also taking Ward to task for sliding is rough ridin' ridiculous. Wasn't it the exact same drive that he broke 3 tackles to get a first down?
Will should have dove instead of sliding because no one was going to hit him. It's clear he slid because he was in pain and he would not have done either if he wasn't hurt. He has taken on contact his whole career. He lost a game to Oklahoma State in 2020 because he refused to slide after a long run and he fumbled after getting hit.

SLIDEWATCH 2023

This thread is ridiculous. Sliding is one of the easiest things to teach. And our coaches are some of the top sliding experts in the nation. I guarantee you that our sliding will not be an issue for the rest of the season.
-
if our coaches are so good at slide coaching, why are we so bad? waiting to open the playbook? let’s hope so
-
Do kids even know how to slide anymore? Baseball isn’t really on tv and I’m not sure any of these guys ever played?
-
Hmmm…

An awful lot of posters ITT thinking SNYDER’S SLIDERS are coming out of that tunnel and folks, it’s not happening
-
Snyder famously DIDN’T teach players to slide. They were expected to get every yard.

well said. there’s not a single player on this team on either side of the ball that would sniff the field under snyder 1.0.
now if you want to talk about snyder 2.0, well i think we all know that’s a different damn story. sorry for swearing, this whole situation has me a little hot under the collar.
-
makes me wonder who has better ones, kli 1.0 or snyder 2.0?
-
Do they want it or are they just living off of past success?
-
If our team of sliders was an appetizer on a menu, I would pass right over them and choose the fried pickles. I hate fried pickles! :Yuck: (ftp://:Yuck:)

I suggest the Houlihan’s APPETIZER PARTY, just $16.95.

Agree completely. He was the same way when he got hurt playing TCU during the '22 regular season.

Not only no, but eff no.

LOL yea during the LHCBS days.
