asserts that martin will kick him off the team in early july.
-
-
damn that powercatryan, damn him. i blame dom leaving on powercatryan's ability to see into the future and predict what is going to happen.
-
is he reliable?
-
is he reliable?
who? powercatryan or sys? (or are they the same poster?)

This info, absent the narrowed-down calendar, was posted here a few weeks back.

for what?
-
I wonder if Dom knows he's getting kicked off the team and, if not, if he reads the board.
-
so...he's got 1.5 to play .5 now as a transfer right? :dunno:
-

i thought about pming, but decided that if martin is bringing in offers on official visits, it can't be much of a secret.

2 to play 1.

wtf
-
This sucks. I like Dom.
-
gasp ... wait ... meh.
bus meet dominique sutton ... dom, you are getting a step slow in your old age. better to enjoy your last years of college basketball somewhere else.
-
Does this point to us not giving a crap what DCA thinks about how we treat their players, and thus the DCA pipeline is closed forever?
Not that 420k has been pulling them in anyways I guess
-
:frown:
-

-
I don't believe it. I refuse to believe it.
-
Do we know why Frank wants to get rid of a guy who goes to class, hasn't been in any trouble and plays the game right?
-

If by the plays the game right, you mean sucks at shooting and is a total headcase after missing said shots, then you're right. He plays the game right.
-
I don't believe it. I refuse to believe it.

Guy doesn't know crap...
PowercatRyan --
Myles could be the guy. When I was trying to figure this out before realignment i was counting him as coming. I am all for adding players as long as it doesn't include current ones leaving.

lol@sys posting this.
-
Just to play both sides... Dom had a Twitter update right when he got back to Manhattan that was something like ... "why why why??"
-
This is kinda fracked up on our side if true. I mean, Dom's tweets just look like calls for help now....
REALLY doubt it is in fact true though. Martavious.
-
It's Sutton.
BigCat and SuperG had this nailed months ago.
-
Three year starter?
Kicking him off??
Not a chance.

This is really BigCat and SuperG's story to tell, but they had it on very good authority that Dom had been in Frank's dog house for quite some time and that Dom had been apparently been getting warnings, ultimatums, call it what you will. AND, other teammates were, as the story goes, lending Frank a hand in trying to get Dom's behavior corrected.
I have NO insight on what the behavioral issues were, just that there were some/lots/whatev that Frank didn't like.
Again, BigCat and SuperG caught wind of this a long time ago but sat on it and hoped that it would be corrected as those things usually do....they didn't want to badmouth Dom and spread rumors so they asked it be kept off the board, and it was....but given this Powercatryan statement, I'd say it's fair to conclude that Dom is the most likely suspect and that this story has merit.

been waiting a long time for the conf. stuff to die down so we could get some good off-season discussos going.

losing dom would hurt. who else is gonna play that 3 spot other than rodney? jamar gonna make a permanent switch to the 3?

With the new post options, these aren't bad ideas

Dom's tweets just look like calls for help now....
You're not talking about the ones where he's quoting song lyrics, are you?
-
Not sure what the "issues" are but I don't think this is good. It may be the best thing in the long run, esp. if Omari ends up being a CK type transfer. It will substantially hurt our chances next year in making a run to the NC. It's really like losing a scholarship, we've simply got fewer players, and a 3 year solid contributor with big game experience at that.
-
Here's the thing about Omari though....he's very ugly.

Yeah. Knew the info would make rounds in the back channel coms but didn't want to Fitzfrack the whole thing. Really impressed by the insidery-ness of the board right now.

rumblings that dom will continue to be part of staff as administrative assistant as he finishes off his degree in biochem

Dom = currently in summer school, walking around campus, and just saw him driving down Denison Ave.

Yep. Will divulge if/when Dom gets his walking papers. :frown:
-
Lot of poster's eyes turning a dark shad of brown, around here. :curse:
-
if/when, this also takes away a 2011 'ship. would be down to williams + 1. not ideal.
sometimes, it's hard to understand martin.
-
Meh. I like Sutton's D on certain occasions and I like the guy in general, but I like him leaving room for Hot Rod to come in and go all Hot Rod on the league. Kinda nice to finally be in a position that the loss of a guy that was as highly recruited as Dom prob won't really matter. Cant wait for b-ball season!
-
Got Dammit . . . why is he such a headcase.
Guarantee if Dom could Finish . . . we aren't even discussing this.
-

Did you rough ridin' follow him? Because you should have.

Fascinating. Always have heard that Dom was in the doghouse, ie. getting two quick fouls and only playing 12 minutes in the entire game. But the doghouse rumors are certainly very believable.
-
i have to think that we're better w/ dom than without him next year and next year is really all that matters, unless martin and staff think that being above decent every year will allow them to stay here forever, which it might.
:frown:
-
he offers NO offense. Liability.
-
Someone please explain the "I'm going to kick this guy off the team a month from now" logic. WTF? If your mind is made up, why the eff wouldn't you just get it over with? Sorry, Low GTFOIQ.
-
As far as the GTFO to Dom in July, Frank is prob waiting to make sure Myles clears and The Real Man actually transfers to KSU. I also think Dom would be nice to have next year. Huge upgrade @ the Energy position.
-
Got Dammit . . . why is he such a headcase.

That pretty much nails it.
I will withhold any further pissing and moaning about this until we get the final word...
-
What? Kick off the best defender on the team. Don't be a dumbass frank.
-
Cue Sys with a FATALITY worthy dissesction of Dom's defensive lapses.
-
LoL at self proclaimed high bbiq'ers giving a sh*t about whether Dom is on the team.
Can't Shoot - check
Wildly Inconsistent D - check
Bipolar bball game - check
The one thing I liked about Dom was his ability to crash the sh*t out of the offensive glass, but Rodney fills that void nicely.
-
What? Kick off the best defender on the team. Don't be a dumbass frank.
Nevermind the fact that he was our leading rebounder in a crap ton of games, including most of the games down the stretch...he actually shot a higher percentage than anyone outside of Jamar and Curtis (except for the small minute guys)...was second on the team in steals (more than Denis). JFC.

Dom = currently in summer school, walking around campus, and just saw him driving down Denison Ave.

Doesn't matter. Frank thinks he needs to GTFO now....

wtf? i love sutton. i'll be very sad if he truly isn't back next year.
and the idea that he doesn't improve the team next year is Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). almost too Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to bother rebutting (3 yr starter vs transfer reserve from a poor team sitting out for the year).
-
A lot of stupid idiots in this thread. If we want to win anything of significance next year we will need Dom. Also he is fantastic looking, both in the face and in regards to his muscle definition.
-
I, for one, would like to see a hbbiq statistical breakdown of Dom's game so I know how upset to be if/when this happens. All I know is it will damage our doberman image to not have his length and physicality the floor.
-
If/when Frank kicks him off the team, I will start with the "he wasn't that good" and "we didn't need him anyway"...Until then, he's a significant part of a deep March run next year.
-

http://tinyurl.com/2cbgo2h
the stats are exactly like what you see when you watch him. offensively limited, outstanding rebounder, disruptive defender, extremely attractive.

God yes, he is fantastic.

It's worth mentioning that Frank has been weighing the decision heavily, and 2-3 particular team leaders were also consulted a long time ago. Frank considering booting Dom doesn't have anything to do with his game. A four letter word and an injury were mentioned. It has to do (this part is speculation) with Frank wanting to make sure he doesn't sacrifice his coaching mantra and set any bad examples.
So, take that fwiw until we hear about the if/when.

Its his Senior year though. He could piss on Ernie Barretts statue in broad daylight and I still would not care.

i'm still hoping it doesn't happen, but if it does then all will admit that you knew a month or two ago.
still hope it doesn't happen and everybody gets to pile on you and act like you said it was a done deal and call you a piece of crap and other really mean type stuff. you know?

I'm keeping my trap shut because I'll be crushed if Dom doesn't complete his career here at K-State. I'm not ready to be crushed yet. I still  you Dom!
-
Sorry, Sys, I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. For some reason,I was thinking you were less than enamored with Dom's game. Must have confused you with someone else.
-
"4 letter word": pimp? homo? marijuana? oh wait that's 9 letters.
weed is a four letter word
-
Don't go, Dom. I forgive you for missing that layup at the end of regulation when all you had to do was out-jump a white kid with a tragically bad haircut. I mean, that could happen to any of us ON ANY DAY!
-
I can't remember if we actually determined the nature of his hand/wrist injury? I was thinking it was consensus that it was an injury sustained during season that he didn't get fully taken care of until after the tourney. Anyway BigCat's mention of the injury being part of this has me curious to say the least.

He was telling people he fell at spring game. Of course that is what I tell people when my crack dealer breaks my hand for not paying him. Could be something worse, but it is either a cover or he fell. It was not an in-season injury.

I (and Mrs. 1/64th) could not agree more. Amazing arms and shoulders, IOurO.

breadsticks all around. another miracle in manhattan?
Despite Rob Cassidy writing something and suggesting otherwise, all my players are happy. I'm a math teacher, I know how to count to 13.

Maybe someone got their scholly pulled, but isn't kicked off the team or out of school? :dunno:
I mean, Frank's statement implies that someone isn't getting a basketball scholarship or we are lying to the transfer kid....and I don't think we are lying to him.
I don't see to many guys on the team who are candidates for academic scholarships, 'cause those are hard for players to get (NCAA scrutiny is high on that).
So, maybe a player mumped up and is simply happy that he isn't kicked off? Perhaps a 3rd year starter who acknowledges that he has made mistakes and is happy footing his own bill and finishing out his career with his peeps? I have no knowledge, just speculating here.
-
Well, the Omari situation was very weird because he faxed his release to KSU and Frank had never even spoken to him. They knew nothing about the kid when the NY twitter guy said he was transferring to K-State. My guess is Omari is full of crap and he's strictly a backup for the canadian kid not making it.

I love, LOVE how Frank still points out that he was a math teacher. It's as if it's 1932 and he is still expected to pull his weight as a professor on campus. To ask him, you'd think he was getting paid millions of dollars a year to teach algebra and the coaching thing is just a something he does on the side.

martin's "i haven't even talked to him" was bullshit. you think lawrence brought himself in on an official and offered himself a 'ship without martin knowing as well?

The one thing I liked about Dom was his ability to crash the sh*t out of the offensive glass, but Rodney fills that void nicely.
please list players that you give a crap about. i will then list the three worst parts of their game. should be fun.
The guy is a f*cking ghost in games that matter. He pads his stats against loser ass teams. I'll take my chances with ___________ (insert Rivals 150 player currently on roster)

I already gave you carte blanche with the above. Ya'll best get to typin' (clint eastwood voice followed by spitting tobacco at Dom's feet)
We have a bunch of posters that bitch and moan about having a team full of athletic guys that can't shoot or handle the ball, then when one leaves the team it's a huge deal. JFC, it's like poster menopause on the bball board, just a bunch of hens cluck cluck clucking away.
I love Dom, but he's infuriating to watch play most of the time. I didn't even bring up his bounce pass of the teammates shoe 3-6 times a game, coupled with the entry passes he never seems to quite grab at first chance. I guess that makes five things you'll need to criticize above
-
Can he be given a scholarship at another Big 12 institution if he is kicked off the team??
Fred needs to :driving: down to Manhattan and check things out if he can sign him.

I love Dom, but he's infuriating to watch play most of the time. I didn't even bring up his bounce pass of the teammates shoe 3-6 times a game, coupled with the entry passes he never seems to quite grab at first chance. I guess that makes five things you'll need to criticize above
lol
-
Can he be given a scholarship at another Big 12 institution if he is kicked off the team??
Fred needs to :driving: down to Manhattan and check things out if he can sign him.
If he had to go anywhere else, and I mean ANYWHERE, I would love to see him in ISU pig-blood red and corn yellow. Start working the back channels to see if you can make this happen, havs.
-
Haven't read the last page or page and a half of this thread but I just walked past Dom on campus and he had a backpack on so I'd assume he's here for good and frank won't dismiss him at the end of the summer.
And the Juevol tweet explains all this nonsense too.

Buddy e-mailed me this
I talked to Jordan quite a bit last night at the catbacker event. He remembered me from the camp the previous weekend so he maybe was a little more comfortable talking to me. Anyway I asked several questions about next year. He said when/if Myles gets here, Jake will play the 2 and Myles the point. I decided to bite the bullet and ask about the Omari situation. I basically said if Omari gets a scholly and Myles makes it, you will be over the limit, and then asked if someone might be leaving. He said no no nothing like that. Omari's parents have money and they might pay his first year. Take that with a grain of salt because he might not wanted to spill the beans. Also, from talking to Jamar and Rodney at camp, Jamar will play the 3 and Rodney the 2.
-
I love Dom, because he's the best super-athletic guy that can't shoot. (In the world.) It isn't contradictory to like one super-athletic guy that can't shoot and not want a team full of them.

LoL at self proclaimed high bbiq'ers giving a sh*t about whether Dom is on the team.
Can't Shoot - check
Wildly Inconsistent D - check
Bipolar bball game - check
The one thing I liked about Dom was his ability to crash the sh*t out of the offensive glass, but Rodney fills that void nicely.
please list players that you give a crap about. i will then list the three worst parts of their game. should be fun.
The guy is a f*cking ghost in games that matter. He pads his stats against loser ass teams. I'll take my chances with ___________ (insert Rivals 150 player currently on roster)
He was our leading rebounder in 4 of the last 6 games (do Big 12 and NCAA tourney games matter? They do, right?).

Getting drunk and sleeping with some dude you meet at the bar is now the definition of "being raped?"

Yeah, that makes no sense. Hopefully she got the beds address so they can send CSI over there before the evidence is destroyed.
Purple: geezus christ "mystery stamina man" who can rape for 7 straight hours
Story: A sorority girl once told me if you sex a girl when she's drunk it's rape. I told her if that's true there's a lot of rape goin round dis place. She didn't laugh. Weeks later we both got drunk and had sex, she never accused me of rape. :wipe away brow sweat:
-
One of my roommates pounded the bejesus out of a tri delt for several hours one night. Good lord that girl was a screamer and had a filthy mouth. Anyway, she was in the same house as my bro's ex, so she tried to tell the whole house he raped her. I told one of the girls she must really enjoy getting raped then, cause she sure as hell was enjoying the pounding that night. Luckily no charges were even considered, but my bro's rep took a huge hit.

So while I believe lsoing sutton isn't a crushing blow, itds obviously not good. A senior, a player who knows the system, an athletic player, and very skilled defender, losong sutton doesn't help.
So what's the prognosis? Where do we go from here? Who steps up to fill this void?
Is this a much more serious blow to what we're all hoping this upcoming season could than I am realizing?

KSU Sports Information
Talk about it in Wabash Station
Senior forward Dominique Sutton has been released from his athletic scholarship at Kansas State and will transfer to another institution, head men's basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Friday.
Sutton
"Dominique has expressed to me his desire to finish his college career closer to home in North Carolina where he has two small children," said Martin. "We appreciate his contributions to the program over the past three years and wish him nothing but the best in the future."
A 6-foot-5, 218-pound senior from Durham, N.C., Sutton averaged 7.2 points on 47.7 percent shooting this past season with 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 24.0 minutes per game. He saw action in all 37 games with 36 starts in helping the Wildcats to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1988. He played in 90 games in his three-year career with 76 starts, averaging 6.5 points on 48.5 percent shooting with 4.9 rebounds per game.
Sutton is on track to graduate and leaves K-State in solid academic standing.

We can only assume it's time to lock Frank into his office and send in some folks to deprogram him out of diving headlong into SLTH/Good Fit/Good Kid/System kid mode.
It's probably too late though.
Oh well . . . it was a short run, but kind of fun.
-
welcome into the starting 5 Juevol. Now please don't suck.
-
Three year starter?
Yeah. Knew the info would make rounds in the back channel coms but didn't want to Fitzfrack the whole thing. Really impressed by the insidery-ness of the board right now.
Any idea what the alleged behavior issues are?
Yep. Will divulge if/when Dom gets his walking papers. :frown:

Again, BigCat and SuperG caught wind of this a long time ago but sat on it and hoped that it would be corrected as those things usually do....they didn't want to badmouth Dom and spread rumors so they asked it be kept off the board, and it was....but given this Powercatryan statement, I'd say it's fair to conclude that Dom is the most likely suspect and that this story has merit.
Yeah. Knew the info would make rounds in the back channel coms but didn't want to Fitzfrack the whole thing. Really impressed by the insidery-ness of the board right now.
Any idea what the alleged behavior issues are?
Yep. Will divulge if/when Dom gets his walking papers. :frown:

Having an ugly girlfriend never stopped Cartier Martin from being awesome.
As for Sutton, I wished he would have stayed/not been kicked out. Sure dude sucked crap at offense but he was a great rebounder and defender, and I'd take him any day over an unproven Canadian. If nothing else have him around to teach McGruder and Russell to play lock down D so they can be awesome for their last 2 years(if they make it that far).

need to nip the "offensive liability" spin in the bud. sutton was limited offensively, not bad offensively. he was good at what he did, and the numbers reflect his ability.

is it too powertardy to "trust frank" with this one? to me it seems he's most missed as a warm body with occasional flash. would rather he stayed but seems 80-90% replaceable at worst. was he going to be a TC this yr? is that the main reason?

'Nique is not going to dominate at any D2 school. Wide open jump shots are no easier at a D2 school than they are at a high major. The fact that the game is being played in a teeny-tiny gym with almost no media coverage does not mean that the shots are easier to make. Dom will be the same player at his next stop as he was the last three years at Kazzu.
Really wish we could have heard something resembling the truth about this. Frank- don't give me that "Dom wants to play closer to his family" nonsense. Sutton has a chance to be the starting small forward on a Final Four team and says "nah- I'm good. I think I'll just go play at some D2 school this year to be closer to my family." Or something like that. Sure.

Moral of the Story:
Frank will tear out his 2nd Lieutenants heart in order to consolidate power.

Yep. We'll never know. If indeed Frank pushed Dom out the door it is a stupid/wreckless move. If Dom really wanted to leave for "family" issues then that is his choice. I
m leaning towards the prior, and if that is the case then O. LAwrence better be one hell of a player because we just lost a 3 year starter for him, or at least he is the replacement. I mean at least deal with it for his senior year Frank and then go and recruit another 4 star to replace him next year.

I'd like to think that getting information from inside the athletic administration has gotten much more difficult for him ever since he Fitz'd out in front of all to see with the whole Patterson thing.
Then again, maybe getting information was never all that easy for the dipsh1t which is why he reported it in the first place.

I guess I'm one of the few that thinks we will be better because of this. :eye:
Samuals at SF > Sutton
Samuals brings offense, however a little inconsistent but that's likely because he was out of position. He's a SF that's been playing PF. He brings the same tenacity and rebounding.
Sutton's edge over Samuals was the ability to guard teams elite guards. However, I think Sutton's defense has decreased over the last 2 years.

This a stupid argument. We could have both and subbed in accordingly. Now Samuels will play and if he sucks then Rodney has to play semi-out of position or Southwell comes in or some crap. Pray that Nino qualifies.

Losing Dom will hurt. We won't be able to replace his tenacity and what he brought to our team. Will it knock us out of contention of a Big 12 title and a National title? Probably not. Jamar was the Big 12 6th man of the year. You don't suppose players go through months of individual workouts and development. Curtis sort of improved in a year(sarcasm). There are some true k-staters on here but some I think sit around waiting for K-State to fall flat on their face. Enjoy the ride. Don't think our program will go down hill anytime soon. Yep, that is how percentages work.
Jesus, where to begin. First off, Jamar doesn't shoot 4% better, he shoots 4 percentage POINTS better. Which is significant. Secondly, Dom shot 15 3 pointers, making 5 to give him a 33.3% completion percentage...I think he made 3 of those in one game. Jamar took enough 3 pointers to make his completion percentage relevant (unlike Dom), and he was the 3rd best 3 point shooter on the team. Anyone that thinks that Jamar and Dom are equivalent outside shooters is a freakin Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) or didn't watch KSU play bball this year.

Company line.
MANHATTAN — At this time next week, Dominique Sutton plans to be living in his home state of North Carolina, holding his two young daughters in his arms.
It's a scene he looks forward to. After being separated from them for long periods while playing basketball at Kansas State, Sutton decided he needed to transfer closer to his kids before embarking on his senior season.
"Being around my kids every day, and having the chance to play in front of my family all the time sounds pretty good," Sutton said by phone Saturday. "I love them a lot. I want to be there for them, and be a part of their life. Seeing them grow up is something I want to do."
Had he returned to K-State, the 6-foot-5 Sutton would have been an important part of a team trying to improve on last season’s run to the Elite Eight. That's something he was looking forward to as well. Watching his teammates and coaches on TV next year will not be easy.
"I'm leaving behind everything that I helped build," Sutton said. "It's tough to say goodbye to all that, but sometimes other things come up that are just more important."
Sutton said he first thought about transferring at the end of his junior season, but kept those feelings to himself. It wasn't until he arrived in Manhattan for summer school that he informed coach Frank Martin he might transfer.
He said the coaching staff told him to weigh his options for a few weeks and give them an answer in July.
"They pretty much left it in my hands," Sutton said. "They said they were behind me whatever I wanted to do. I eventually told them I wanted to be closer to my family, so I left."
He said his teammates were shocked to hear the news.
"It was pretty random," Sutton said. "I don't think anyone suspected it. I didn't want to tell them, but it was something I had to deal with."
Sutton is still living in Manhattan, but plans to move home to Durham, N.C., in the next few days. He said his immediate family and girlfriend still live there.
Both he and Martin have said Sutton is leaving K-State in good academic standing, and he hopes to transfer to a Division I program and finish out his senior season in 2011-12.
Sutton is unsure what school he will end up with, but he is hoping to land with Wake Forest or North Carolina State.
"Whichever school feels like they can use a wing player like myself," Sutton said. "I'll pretty much find out once I get out there."
He says he will fondly look back on his time at K-State.
"There's no bad blood at all between us," Sutton said. "I'm leaving on a good note. I'm proud of what I did at K-State and what we accomplished as a team. Everything was good."

Wierd, if true. You would has to be more than meets the eye. I dunno though Sutton always seemed to march to the beat of his own drum. Still think Frank ran him off? Damn dude is gonna be 26 if he has to sit out a year.
-
Still think Frank ran him off?
I think Frank gave him an ultimatum and Dom didn't live up to it.
-
I think he is more of a man than sherron collins will ever be.

KU pal of mine gave me crap for all the stuff I said about Sherron's kids. Pointed out that Dom is heading home to care for his family which is more than Sherron has done for his 2 1/2 kids.
-

pfffft

Dom couldn't score for crap, but he was the lead Doberman. Without him, we're more like a pack of ?.
German Shepards? Rottweilers?
-
Pullen is the alpha dog among the dobermans. We'll be fine.
-
sutton = quitter. that's all i need to know about that dude. later, loser-.

R u rough ridin' kidding me. that sonuvabitch left, eff you dom. eff you.
can we have nothing nice ever?

According to EVERYONE on GPC, it will be Jamar.
Jamar all of a sudden has an outside shot and is able to dominate other team's 3's.
:jerk:
Seriously considering dropping the subscription.
If Jamar does take his place on the high light reel, I hope they show five Jamar's kicking that guy in the head.
Jamar is a better shooter than Dom.
Jamar is exactly 4% better at 3's than Dom per http://www.kstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3088&SPID=213&DB_OEM_ID=400&ATCLID=204833468 (http://www.kstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3088&SPID=213&DB_OEM_ID=400&ATCLID=204833468)
Did you like how well Dom shot from deep this year? If so, you will like Jamar's outside shot.
His 3P% was only a little better than Dom's because he had more than 3 times as many attempts, tard.
Sutton had a really bizarre 2 game stretch against NU and OU where he went 5-7 from 3. The rest of his career at K-State he made 6 out of 36.
I do think Dom will be missed though.
-
Leadership, and expierence. Great defense.
-
I don't think his leadership was ever really even relevant. Dude was too much of a headcase for that. Defense and experience will be missed but not offense, so maybe we won't really miss him that bad.
-

this. Jeezus Pullen was unrealy that game. Don't get me wrong, I like Dom and think we will miss some things, but to say he can't be replaced is just wrong. I'm not saying we are better without him, but we CAN be.

How about Nino?

Akeem Wright vs Dom Sutton
Thoughts?

Akeem Wright vs Dom Sutton
Thoughts?
Akeem Wright was the better asset to the program, obviously. However, Dom could sometimes do cool dunks and stuff.
-
Guess I'd say Akeem, if only for his ball handling ability.
-
When Dom was on his game...we were pretty much unbeatable. Not sure about Akeem.
-
Dude, you can't compare the teams Akeem played on with the E8 team of last year. Just substitute Wright for Sutton on last year's team and ask yourself if that team would be better or worse. Both were very good defenders with limted offensive skill sets. I think that Akeems passing and ball hanling abilities may give him a slight edge.

Akeem could barely dribble. I'm with you on everything else though.

Add to the fact that akeem wasn't a giant head case

Interesting. Was curious how this one was going to get written up but wasn't sure exactly what the story coming out of Bramlage would be.
The parting of ways might not have been ugly, but things started devolving after the first of the year. Basically a lack of effort and a few other things is what killed Dom's career at K-State. At least good to know how to expect Frank to handle these kinds of situations in the future. He obviously isn't easy to budge from the way he prefers to run the team.
-
I see it's been touched on and all, but per inside connections... Dom was in trouble at the time being late for meetings, and also a fight at a local Manhattan bar. Frank doesn't play that game and he was going to be gone anyway. I am just glad that Frank didn't do it on a bad note allowing this kid to have another chance. I will miss his defense but his offense made me want to hang myself, take care Dom and don't screw up your second chance!

Funny, never heard a peep about this before. Nice job keeping this out of the news.

I think it's cute that Dobs is trying to pretend ksufans.com actually knows anything about anything and is therefore still relevant. It's almost like having Ben around again. Almost.

interesting. though would hope this situation would be a sliding scale based on talent.
-
I think this thing was up in the air until as late as 2 weeks ago. I know for a fact that at that point in time Dom was still looking at apartments for next year in Manhattan. It sounds to me like Frank gave Dom plenty of chances to get things in order and he failed to meet the last opportunity, which likely came in the last 2 weeks, and then both sides agreed to a reasonable break-up.

both he and Fitz broke the news (internally) weeks ago. since the SID has made the release, both are now willing to talk about it in the public forum.

I have it on good authority that Fitz is sitting on explosive inside information that may or may not ever come out.

Someone needs to waterboard Fitz asap so we can get at some of this completely credible inside information that he's always sitting on.

Random ESPN blogger (http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/13000/dominique-sutton-leaves-hole-at-k-state) chimes in....
In other words, the Wildcats might take a slight hit from Sutton's transfer, especially on the defensive end, where Kelly will have to improve. Still, if all goes well, Pullen and company will be right where they planned before they heard Sutton's news. That's the kind of depth you'd expect from a powerhouse like Kansas. But it's happening in Manhattan, too.

Great summarization here folks
hey retards, it's better to have 2 better-than-average perimeter defenders than 1. it's not like pullen becomes a better defender because kstate no longer has sutton.
also moronic how all the 'tards love to talk up the pullen on fredette switch up, but ignore pullen getting abused by white in the mississippi game. big rough ridin' surprise, the 6'0" better-than-average perimeter defender did better against smaller guards, and the 6'5" better-than-average defender did better against bigger players.

Two things. First, Pullen had to take Sutton's man multiple times last season. Second, when this happened, Sutton went to the bench (and was not on the perimeter playing defense).
The point here is that Sutton was not the amazing lock down defender that people thought he was. Overall, he'll be missed, but not nearly as much as people seem to think.

Probably would have been more true with Sutton than without.

If that's what Ben thinks, I will go ahead and guarantee that a box and 1 will have disasterous results for any team that employs that tactic against us.

So today I got some super-secret elite inside dirt. :gocho: My barber said he cut the hair of a friend of one of the assistant coaches, and the real reason Sutton left wasn't his kids in SC. Sutton just wasn't working hard, wasn't willing to put in the requisite amount of work. So, Frank gave him the choice to leave. OK, I dunno what the other choice was. Anyway, I know some form of this story has been reported before, but this is just more evidence to back it up. Sutton, you blew it. :nono:

I'm 6'2" so he doesn't seem "really rough ridin'" big to me, but he's pretty big I guess. He's sorta old, parted white hair, glasses, owns his shop. That him?

I think if Sutton were our key to being a great team next year, Frank would have made it work. He isn't, Frank found a passable sub and told Dom to get out. Ireally believe if our coaches thought losing Dom was fatal to this team, they'd have kept him.

The people who don't believe this are the same ones who take Frank at his word when he says he's primarily interested in "fit" with recruiting. Somehow, they allow themselves to completely forget about all of the headcases he's recruited. Frank isn't so stupid that he's going to screw himself out of an incredible opportunity next year.

I'm not a "in Frank we trust" guy but Frank had total control of this situation. He could have easily played next season with Dom on the team. He clearly thought losing Dom was addition by subtraction.

You both are using a lot of words to say "FP, TC, etc.".

guess it was easier for the staff to send a senior with some very serviceable skills packing, then it was for them to figure out a way to get the best out of him, etc. seems kinda lazy.

How do you get the best out of cancer? Besides cutting the cancerous ball out and putting it in a jar that says "Ball" on it to at least make a funny joke out of it that has the whole office rolling?

regardless how revisionisty colored your sutton evaling glasses are, unless he was an actual cancer, not just a pussy, there is no possible way that williams in '10-'13 is better than sutton + williams in '11-'14.
no, make that irregardless. and a bad cancer, not some pussy cancer that is easy to beat.

I agree that we are worse off now. I disagree that it's a devastating loss.

i basically agree. with the caveat that we really can't say with much confidence, since none of the remaining and incoming non-pullen perimeter players are proven, with the semi-exception of mcgruder.
is voluntarily getting a little worse, for no logical reason that we can see, not worth bitching about? odd worldview.

You should bitch at BigCat. Maybe he's got the reason you're looking for. :dunno:

didn't he promise to provide reasons after everything was finished? lying bastard.

People were acting like we'd lost Pullen. Plus, it's fun to roll at people making Sutton out to be some great player. There's really nothing great about him. He was a role player on a really good team. While it's better to have Sutton plus others, I think the odds of simply replacing him with others by committee are pretty good. For that not to happen, the others all have to suck. And that's just not going to happen.

Just remember how you felt ()every time Dom threw up an outside shot last year. Now, picture yourself not having to do that anymore ( :pbj:).

for some reason you appear to think antisuttoning is more contrarian than prosuttoning. but, you're wrong.

I'm anti-prosuttoning. Very different from antisuttoning.

I heard a VERY RIDICULOUS rumor last week, from somebody who talked to Sutton. Absolutely ridiculous rumor, so i didn't bother posting it. But it kinda has to do with the quoted phrase.

You should tell everybody here that only people who follow you on twitter get to find out what the rumor was.
Just rough ridin' with you, Pett.

No. Not even close. They weren't even acting like we lost Dez Willingham.
-
I deeply miss Dominique Sutton.
If I was capable of crying, I would have, tonight.

Dominique, with minimal effort, could rip Nino's heart from his chest.
This should tell us all something.

LOL, I rough ridin' I knew he'd be headed to crap school.

I don't get it though. They are D1, right? He can't play right away, he has to sit a year. He's a Sr. with only a half RS left, right? Wouldn't he only be eligable for the first half of next season? Weird.
-
They are in the process of moving up to D1.
Also, Dom was the leading scorer against them when we played in Manhattan a couple years ago.

He never used a redshirt for that first half of the season because he played. He just wasted half of the first year by not qualifying. Only Jamar should have a half year redshirt. Dom should have one more season after sitting out.

Actually, strike my earlier comment about D1 status. This year will be their first year as a full D1 program and they'll be in the MEAC. I'm sure he'll get some exemption since he's transferring back for family reasons. Goodman said they are getting a transfer from OU as well, Ray Willis.
-
since he's transferring back for family reasons
Is it that his family would miss him when Frank murdered him for not showing up for workouts?

So you think he will play this year?

Can you split a redshirt up? I was thinking it was an entire season type of thing?

Yeah, I'm thinking there is a good chance he'll be able to play this year since they are a new D1 program and its likely K-State/Frank will be helpful in the process of his transfer.

i'd be surprised if the NCAA let him play this year. the family thing is more for like moving close to sick family than it is being homesick, like elliot williams @ memphis, from duke.
