So what do we have to do to get the KC regional?  Go further than KU in the Dr Pepper?

Cause if we get the KC regional and make it there, I don't see how don't make it out of that weekend.  This team is pretty good in friendly confines

Trash hoops is fun.
I was complaining to Mrs SSOC about how boring the game was (just alternating fouls and FTs at each end of the court) when the Cats went on a 17-2 run to close out the game. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Green did a lot of nice dunking in that game.

pretty wild that at 4:50 it was a 2 possession game and we looked like we were setting ourselves up to poop our own pants and then we end up winning by 21. i know what i'm about to say is pretty controversial and will probably tick some ppl off, but i'd like it very much if we played more games like we did the last 4:50 of last night's game.

This is my feeling. We seem to love playing fast and loose, which burns us sometimes but also gives us an incredible ceiling like @Texas. Seems like it all comes down to whether the shots fall in March.

My least favorite basketball to watch is KSU trying to protect a 10 point lead with plenty of time left in the game. We seem to be terrible in that situation.
Title: Re: TCU in the Octagon of Doom
Post by: Purple Derpathy on February 08, 2023, 11:51:12 AM
The problem with Noelle is he likely gives his teammates more credit than they deserve in terms of their ability to catch some of his ridiculous passes.  They lack the awareness or physical ability to complete things on the receiving end.  The trash basketball can be minimized, but with our current style, it's going to happen from time to time.

We can catch fire any game (and we do about half of them) and play with anyone in the nation. I don't see us losing more than 1 game the rest of the regular season. Book it.

Correct

Tomlin would also help, but probably not in the TO department which is out biggest issue. If Quis is a solid/good PG, then this is a tourney team. If we just had Tomlin, we'd probably win an extra game or two but still be bubble material. With both, we're talking a 3/4 seed with another shot at a S16/E8.

IMO Tomlin would help with turnovers because he can get buckets and a lot of our turnovers are caused by forcing things to try to get buckets.

But like, turnovers aren't the biggest issue, lack of quality wins is. And they aren't that far off in most of these games, he'd definitely win us a few and probably have us in the bubble
Title: Re: TCU in the Octagon of Doom
Post by: nicname on February 17, 2024, 06:46:04 PM
Tomlin would do wonders in both 5-0, which we’ve wisely abandoned, and 4-1. And yes, as Mich said it’s because he gets buckets.
Title: Re: TCU in the Octagon of Doom
Post by: pissclams on February 17, 2024, 07:12:56 PM
neither mcnair nor colbert are ready to be doing what they’re being asked to do.  so having tomlin means the former two play less, therefore we get better

but more important than tomlin is an experienced point guard as they make everyone on the floor better.  i keep saying it, but I really don’t have any idea what tang was thinking when assembling this roster without a PG.  even quis is a shoot first guy.  the whole thing is what some people call “a real head scratcher”.

Quis may not have been a cure to our TO woes. He average 2.4 TO/game last year and 2.1 assists. The year before 2.8 TOs but 4 assists.
