Title: The Machine
Post by: MakeItRain on December 03, 2022, 07:49:38 PM
Waaaaayyyyyyy overdue for Austin Moore to have his own thread, but my goodness, the machine has been amazing all season and he saved his best for when it mattered most.

And what a dreamboat, right?

He should be preseason DPOY, he won't be, but he should.

Thought this thread was about shady, underground organizations at the University of Alabama for a sec.

Beginning footballers should watch his instructional video on the proper form for tackling. He seems to be very fundamentally sound and good at tackling "in space." High motor guy.

Badass high school wrestler. Best tackler we’ve ever had.

Also I do not understand how that was not a safety

Tuck rule situation, his arm was going forward and by rule, if his arm is going forward, in a passing motion, with the ball in it, it's a forward pass. The referees don't have the latitude to interpret intent to pass, which there was clearly none in that play, but they called it correctly.

Yeah, I understand that's the correct application of the rule, but it still *feels* like a fumble to me.

It was just so freakish.  Don't think I've ever seen a rejection like that in football before. Jump ball, alternate possession to Cats....

The problem I have with it is it never left his hand moving forward

It's just a dumb rule. Should be changed. Pretty mind boggling that the rule book can't get that play correct. That was a spectacular play by Moore.

Yeah, a truly bizarre play. The ball was completely in his hand and got punched out. Seems like a textbook fumble. Why does it matter if his arm was going up, down, sideways or in rough ridin' circles?

Even though it’s kinda dumb, I at least understand the “tuck” rule because 99.9% of the time it comes into play when only the QB’s arm is hit, which makes it almost impossible to determine whether the QB was trying to release the ball for a pass or not. I’m this case, he clearly was not releasing it.

Depending on the angle you watch it too "moving forward" is almost not what happened, more like he was air-Jordaning and his jump forward was making him go, not the pass

Regardless, never seen a play like that ever, was something else
