Flying in Thursday night and staying with a Friend for the weekend. I've never done a gameday other than for basketball, so I kind of want to get out there early and tailgate behind the set if possible.

Get in Friday afternoon, fly back Sunday. Staying somewhere in downtown ft worth where the alumni association thing is.

That's about the only thing set in stone....oh yeah, also kicking the crap out of some Stoopid frogs.

Where is everybody getting their tickets? Through K-State? Secondary market? I assume K-State’s sections will be on the visitor’s side, right?

K-State allotment sections are: 136-139, 142, 240-244, 442-446. Given the small size of the TCU fanbase and K-State being 8 hours away, my guess is that if you buy in the upper deck, you'll probably have plenty of room to move around. I bought tix on Stubhub a week ago and there were loads and loads of options at all levels.

As for things to do, skip the dumb alumni stuff and just go to Deep Ellum. Pretty cool neighborhood with breweries, bars, good food, etc. Of course, it's also worth remembering that Dallas is home to a Medieval Times...

Has anyone been to that "Texas Live" PNL type place by the stadium? With USA playing the Netherlands at 9am on saturday I might try and watch the first half of the game at that place before walking to the stadium.

Went night before Stanford game. It fine. It was more like the STL version (indoor) but bigger than STL's. Probably be a great place to watch the match given the location.

It should be very busy at Texas Live on Saturday.   Texas high school playoffs going on at Globe Life and Chocktaw Stadium all weekend.  I was there last weekend during the Mexico/Argentina match and it was standing-room only.

Yeah, it's a sterile, corporate and overpriced venue, but it's the only thing within earshot of the stadium.

The only other place nearby is what seems to be a bar district near UT-Arlington; about 1 mile (3 min uber, 20 min walk) away from the stadium.

That's fine. It opens at 9 am tho on Saturday. It's more the anxiety of partying there and getting to Jerry's place by kickoff. Like, how much time are your really going to have there?

I had to finally look at a map of this setup. That’s wild that there’s still a whole ass unused outdoor baseball stadium sitting there across a parking lot from an retractable roof baseball stadium.

Anyway, I think I said this for an earlier game there too, but the move for this 11am game would be to get dropped off at Walmart there, buy a cheap cooler, ice and beer, and carry it across the street to the stadium parking lot and pak.

This is the truth. It maybe different, pre-Dr. Pepper, but the Texas Live place was dead prior to the Stanford game. Tailgating scene was pretty great.

Ha, yeah on google maps you can see the xfl stripes wedged in there, and I guess that's what the cleaner-looking extended stands relate too that otherwise would be crushing a left-fielder.  But maps also declares that stadium as well as the other to be the home of the rangers.

Ended up booking a hotel by deep ellum/Baylor medical center (was $200 cheaper than any hotel in downtown ft worth) for me and a bro.

My other bro who is going to the game with us (married with kids) lives in far north McKinney and said "Pack a bullet proof vest, deep ellum is kind of shady"

I'm assuming he is just your typical mid 30's white suburbanite with kids who is afraid of going anywhere outside of his bubble but please tell me if I'm wrong. It's not like we are going to be out till 2am, just some drinks and dinner on Friday then maybe some day/evening drinks and dinner after the game.

As long as your car is parked in a safe, private place, you'll be fine. I IRL know 2 people who have had their cars stolen because they parked in neighborhood streets. There is crime, but it's property crime, not battery/assault/murder etc.

There’s no negativity here. I just rather get comfy at Jerry’s World and casually watch the US score zero goals on my phone near college game day, while my alumni is playing for their 3rd Big 12 Championship in 30 years in football. That’s all. PNL away! :dunno:

Pretty sure I know the hotel you're staying at (because there are oddly few in that immediate area and even fewer that are reasonably priced) and I have stayed there before - it's perfectly fine and just a few blocks away from Deep Ellum. Will be interesting to see how many K-Staters hang there vs. the Jerry World area.

 :dubious: we winnin, bih

FunkyWacksterTuck, I'm with you. Just zero interest in fighting a crowd to watch soccer at 9 am when live GameDay is happening at our game. Of course GameDay isn't what it used to be, blah blah. It's still GameDay at the Qatz before the Dr. Pepper. I'm parking lotting that badboy.

And yeah for people who haven't been, if you need any last minute stuff there's a Wal-Mart literally across the street from the stadium. No idea how slammed it'd be on the morning of the game.

There’s no negativity here. I just rather get comfy at Jerry’s World and casually watch the US score zero goals on my phone near college game day, while my alumni is playing for their 3rd Big 12 Championship in 30 years in football. That’s all. PNL away! :dunno:

That comment was for MIR being negative to the USMNT getting smoked.

Trying to help my dad transfer tickets to me. I'm able to log in, but no tickets. Anyone seeing their tickets through Kstate/on their portal yet?

It appears that every Car that drove down to Texas from
KS stopped at Buccee’s

So did every car from Texas because it’s a magical place and who wouldn’t want to be there?

I managed to not get shot at once in deep ellum. Went out on Friday night until the pac12 championship game ended and saw some older Katz fans.

Ended up back there around 7 after the game and absolutely devoured some Terry Blacks BBQ. I may be biased due to the amount of drinks I consumed throughout the day and the fact that I was on cloud 9 due to the Katz but I would give it 10/10.
