Very good deal for KC area Cerner cats who either work directly on their software product (building it or implementing it), but I'd be freshening up my resume if I were a Cerner back office cat.
-
I split this out of the investing thread, so I didn't clog that up with job stuff. Anyone out there a Cerner person or have any insidery info on how the acquisition will play out?
I don't work for either Oracle or Cerner, but have worked very closely with Oracle for eleventy billion years.
-
Also, smell ya later SAP!

Cerner cat here - nobody knows anything. this has always been a rumor obvs but feels pretty weird to actually be happening.

officially official

Good luck!
-
My ex gf at Cerner that I still keep in touch with (no not that kind of touch Katdaddy) had been talking about a "takeover" for several months, guess this is what she was talking about.
-
That sounds scary. Hope everyone turns out ok.
-
Cerner brought a lot of clout and drove salary 8n the region, this sucks for KC I'd have to think
-
I know very little about the overlap between these two companies, is there quite a bit of job duplication for cerner folks now?
-
some, mostly in the data hosting world. none as it relates to frontend healthcare applications.
-
HR, IT, accounting and finance, marketing, procurement and sourcing, are all examples of what I’d expect to be duplicated and cut
-
It will take time tho. Like, don’t expect to get a new laptop or benefits enrollment for another year or so.
-
jobs are much cheaper here than on the west coast, just as t-mobile discovered
like pete said, overhead labor will be cut but i’d expect a decent portion of their other kc jobs to be relatively safe
-
what's with the refresh thing in Cerner? I have to tell it to refresh all the time instead of it just refreshing automatically.
-
Why does Dragon hate Cerner right now? Every 3rd time I restart my PowerMic III, powerchart closes.... It wasn't doing this with PowerMic Mobile.
-
Dragon is crazed again today. Latency issues, etc.

This is prob what is messing up goEMAW as well. Can Saul fix the Dragon thingy too?
-

yep. whole variety of areas.
-
I went through one about 5 years ago that was about 60% of the corporate office in one day. Are we talking that level of biblical?
-
not in the same galaxy as far as % but hearing four digits
-
The good news is cats always land on their feet. Hope anyone that is impacted is alright.
-
time to buy some houses yall!
-
just slightly past a year since the oracle purchase, this should not be a surprise to anyone

It’s not, Oracle announced cost cutting and layoff rounds long ago. Doesn’t make it easier to deal with though.

having been through a very similar situation myself, advanced knowledge that the cuts were coming did absolutely make it easier to deal with when it was my turn
