Very good deal for KC area Cerner cats who either work directly on their software product (building it or implementing it), but I'd be freshening up my resume if I were a Cerner back office cat.

I split this out of the investing thread, so I didn't clog that up with job stuff.  Anyone out there a Cerner person or have any insidery info on how the acquisition will play out?

I don't work for either Oracle or Cerner, but have worked very closely with Oracle for eleventy billion years.

My ex gf at Cerner that I still keep in touch with (no not that kind of touch Katdaddy) had been talking about a "takeover" for several months, guess this is what she was talking about.

Cerner brought a lot of clout and drove salary 8n the region, this sucks for KC I'd have to think

I know very little about the overlap between these two companies, is there quite a bit of job duplication for cerner folks now?

some, mostly in the data hosting world. none as it relates to frontend healthcare applications.

HR, IT, accounting and finance, marketing, procurement and sourcing, are all examples of what I’d expect to be duplicated and cut

It will take time tho. Like, don’t expect to get a new laptop or benefits enrollment for another year or so.

jobs are much cheaper here than on the west coast, just as t-mobile discovered
like pete said, overhead labor will be cut but i’d expect a decent portion of their other kc jobs to be relatively safe

what's with the refresh thing in Cerner? I have to tell it to refresh all the time instead of it just refreshing automatically.

Why does Dragon hate Cerner right now? Every 3rd time I restart my PowerMic III, powerchart closes.... It wasn't doing this with PowerMic Mobile.

I went through one about 5 years ago that was about 60% of the corporate office in one day. Are we talking that level of biblical?

It’s not, Oracle announced cost cutting and layoff rounds long ago. Doesn’t make it easier to deal with though.

having been through a very similar situation myself, advanced knowledge that the cuts were coming did absolutely make it easier to deal with when it was my turn
