T's & P's to everyone in the danger zone.
-
It is blowing hard here in the Smoky Hills! Trees snapping all over town. The air is filled with a gray haze as the wind whips up assorted dusts from bulk commodity production. Asthma is starting to activate. Will keep everyone posted.

Pretty nasty stuff.

Prayers up!
My neighbor left his dumb trash dumpster in his driveway (like an idiot). It took advantage of the opportunity to discard itself of it's worldly belongings and is roaming free through the cul de sac.

Was just coming on to ask for Ts & Ps for me and the homie @Cardiac Cats. We not only have the wind crap going on but we have this to deal with.

Welp. Weather is setting up real shitty for dangerous tornadoes and/or derecho 2.0. It was supposed to be cloudy today, not so much. We've obliterated the record for warmest December day in the recorded history of the state. Everything has shut down. Below not good :ohno:

Tees and pees my dusty (ks) and soggy (ia) friends.
I remember my dad telling me about this happening in the early 90s (of course I was far too young to remember) in garden city.

Oh I do. We had two wind days where we had no school. IIRC both days were in October, maybe November. Of course bring a teenager I didn't realize the gravity of the situation I was just happy to stay home and play playstation all day with my friends. I stayed in East Garden Village at the time and the damage from the sand and tumbleweed was pretty crazy.
Garden also had one of these a year or two ago. I remember seeing a story in either the times or Washington Post about the tumbleweeds pilling up after the wind storm.

Maybe it’s time we move to Canada, guys.

I agree. I think the climate is broken here.
Part of the fence in my backyard got mushed by a limb from my neighbor's elm tree.

I am missing some deck chairs. I picked up the kids from school right as they were securing in place and then picked up my youngest from pre school. Driving home through sheets of rain was kind of dumb, but I am glad to have the kids home.

I read I-70 closed due to dust and debris. Dust bowl days in Kansas.
-
Just heard it’s raining mud in Iowa from all the dust in Kansas. What a deal.
So far so good here, except 77 degrees in my house. AC in December?!
-
Fires in JC and Chapman from downed power lines.

I have a white work car today and it looks like I've been driving on dirt roads for weeks without a carwash.

That was a crazy storm system. Wasn't too worried until we lost power and then realized there is only one verizon tower within range of our house, and it's down too.

Photo from Glen Elder Lake (west of Beloit) yesterday. Pretty crazy

That storm sucked balls and taints. I need to get my roof patched up to make it through the winter and then once the weather warms up have most of it replaced. :chainsaw:

When I was driving home yesterday, the Missouri River near the downtown kc airport looked just like that!
-
The windstorm presented some challenges for noted K-Stater and camera-shy person Farmer Derek.

That was wild.. Very glad I took out a HUGE black walnut tree a year or so ago. That sucker would've totaled our roof.. again
-
Wind knocked the side out of one of our buildings. Hindsight, we probably should have closed the doors. Going to guess the poles were probably rotten.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211216/0f1526b1bfc7d91ee5a9208ef6f19daf.jpg)

Mrs8 went to annual teacher holiday party pre storm. Drives home in the storm with teacher friend. Encounters downed limb in road and decides she will get out and move it only to be whacked by another falling limb and gashing the top of her head. Friend gets her home and we go to ER. Two hours and 17 staples later she and her 10 cm laceration are fine.

The old man has beef cattle. He raises cow/calf pairs and sells the calves at feeder weights. He grinds feed for the calves once he pulls them off of grass.

Yeah if you want, or skip around.
Or don't watch at all.
Spoiler, he drives to Salina and tries to find a place to park but the lot is full because I-70 is closed so he goes to take a shower and by the time he's done with his shower the road is open again so he just carries on to Denver and that's where the video ends.

Yea, like when and where does the smash up happen. The title is misleading.

No worries. I've kind of gotten into the whole SlowTV thing where you just watch out the front window of a train in Norway or now there's a lot of truckers on YouTube streaming the same stuff. Pretty uneventful mostly but I thought it was interesting to see the progression through the storm is all. I'll admit it's not for everyone, or even most folks.
