My kids are at that age where the last 2 4th’s you could see their enthusiasm was falling off. This year, I asked them about that and they confirmed. I offered them each half the money I normally spend on fireworks to not do fireworks. They both jumped on it. No more sitting out in the humidity, bugs, and smoke to watch lame tent-grade fountains and whatnot. Part of me feels bad, but most of me feels pretty great about it.

Played pool with the kids all night instead. Good night was had by all.

Fireworks are so cheap. It's great. I'm sick though so that sucks.
