Title: Stan Weber recap from KKHI Podcast (WVU week)
Post by: 'taterblast on October 30, 2020, 01:38:40 PM
-Is there a match up issue beings WVU has won 4 in a row? Yes, a little. Just like how K-State has dominated ISU the last 12 years, sometimes it's just match-ups. They have superstars on defense. DL plays with very aggressive style. Neil Brown is a real good coach and always has a plan. You have to take that into account. Trip is longer, everything more of a grind, etc. They have experience on defense and just really strong on that side of the ball. One of the best defenses in the country right now.

-And, K-State is nowhere near dangerous on offense....just trying to be efficient. They are not converting on 3rd downs. Finally, in third quarter against ku, they did and they looked much better. But, other than that, offense just hasn't been consistent. So, you have a match-up problem.

-K-State won't give up and will fight all four quarters, but it's going to be a big struggle to score tomorrow.

-How about K-State's defense? Can they keep them in the game? Sure. K-State has to stop Brown and the running game, as always. QB isn't great, but he's a fighter. Have to get them in obvious passing situations.....so you can drop 7 and get pressure with K-State's front four as they are capable of doing. Keep things in front....because K-state tackles so well that they'll be able to keep them short of sticks.

-WVU is going to try to run the ball........it's their strength. That'll be the key to the game.

-KK: If K-State wins, they'll be in title game....prove me wrong. Stan: OU is still most likely the best team in the Big 12. But, with two losses and a k-state head-to-head win against them, K-State can go 2-2 rest of way and still be ahead of OU. I don't think your too far off with that statement, because even at 2-2 rest of way, just might be good enough.

-If K-State wins tomorrow, Klieman will have a winning record in the big 12 in his first two years at no worse than 5-4. That's not insignificant. In fact, with a true round robin, that's pretty amazing for anyone not named OU....let alone a new coach.

-KK: Seems early in the year, but this is just a monster game for K-State. Stan: It is. Vaults you big time. It's a weird situation. K-State is just a team that has to grind week to week like an NFL team.....but if you win, even after all the grinding, you look up and your 5-0, it just looks different. You can think about Big 12 championship.

-With that said, the coaches and players are only focused on tomorrow. I can guarantee you that.

Agree, that this feels like a bigger game than it appears on paper regardless of conference standing.

Very concerned about their Dline

They lost to Tech last week and looked like crap vs KU the week before, so, confidence is rising!
