1 Cat (12 years)
3 Dogs (10 years, ?, ?)
Yes, that’s too many dogs. 2 were fosters from my deadbeat cousin. Let our son get attached and then cousin never came back for them. I’m too soft.

I have one of these. So, I probably have 4-5 squirrels. I feed birds too!

Do you cat people let them outside and if so does it bother you that you are decimating local bird populations?
-
Yes, they go outside, no it doesn't bother me. It does bother me when they decimate local chipmunk populations.

indoor only for me

Is this true? Do they climb trees to catch them?

Sounds like Darwinism then. Stupid birds.

I was walking lady one day and there was a cat laying down just chilling at the end of a neighbors driveway. Next thing I know it leaps like 2 ft in the air and kills a robin that was just casually flying by then struts away with the bird in its mouth. I was extremely impressed.

2 dogs.
I had a box turtle for about 2 hrs on Saturday. No idea how it got in my back yard but the dogs were going crazy barking at it so I brought it inside, put it in a box and contemplated keeping it but decided to let it go in a creek by my house.

They are just incredible hunters

I've only seen my cats get a bird a few times and every time it has been diving into a bush and coming out with a bird in its mouth. I guess it's true what they say, a bird in the hand is harder for a cat to kill than 2 in the bush or whatever.

2 dogs
1 Giant rough ridin' rabbit that in the course of a year my wife has still failed to house train.

My dog has caught a couple of birds out of bushes.

From the number of birds that eat our cats' food daily, we aren't negatively influencing that population.

My last cat was indoor only but if she had gone outside and snagged an occasional bird it wouldn't have bothered me one bit.

When the chicks were wee things, one cat tried to enter the coop. My fiance put a couple swats on her rear end. Hasn't messed with them since. Been six weeks or so.
Our problem has been neighbor dogs roaming. Never fails that dogs are loose on days we decide to let them roam a bit in the backyard outside the coop.

My dad's dog once stole a chicken from the neighbor about a mile away from the hobby farm.

I had banged over 25 chicks by the time I graduated high school. That number is over 60 now.

Oh, PETS. Damn it.

Lol, we need to get beems back.

It's actually illegal to keep box turtles in Kansas. I had a crap load of them when I was a kid. I feed them grasshoppers and cabbage and only kept the active ones'. I used to race them and it was tons of fun.

Oh eff, could this be Beems???

Do insects/arachnids come as pets?
-

Yes. No. Also, pretty sure my cat doesn't hunt anything. He's neutered and lays around all day and protects his territory (basically our yard) from any ruffians who might trespass on his turf.

Heh. I lost the dog in the divorce. Fiance hasn't been emotionally ready for one after she lost her last dog. We've considered it though.

The most shocking thing on that list is the 4 indoor cats. I have 3 and it is a living nightmare of dust bunnies, vomit and litter boxes. How do you cope?

Two litter boxes in the basement along with their food. They spend most of the time down there with limited time on the main floor. Fiance keeps them tidy.

On Saturday we are adding a 4th pet. A dog. She is a 1 year old rescue from a local shelter. Is this getting a little ridiculous? Yes. I originally put my foot down about not getting any more pets after getting 1 cat and 1 dog. Then I put my foot down again after adding the 2nd cat. Now I'm REALLY going to put my foot down after this dog.
-
Want another cat? Perhaps a chicken or two?

they have self cleaning ones. However with one cat, i was only needing to do it every 3 days. One of the reasons i am pulling a _33 and putting my foot down on more than two cats. So much pee and poop.

I'd worry more about the hair.
