Title: Favorite memories attending K-State (Doesn’t have to be sports related)
Post by: 420seriouscat69 on July 09, 2020, 08:54:27 PM
All my best buds who I’m still good friends with went there and were in my wedding. The Wildcat 91.9 was kind of my own fraternity. Making out with hot fillies, bowling alley beers on campus, and funny or die performing for us at the Bram. I got to meet Will Ferrell. Summer MHK was a blast while working at the COK (Carlos O‘ Kellys). I got to be the main tour guide for Josh Freeman when he visited. You guys can thank me later. Beas snapped up one of my girls his first week on campus. I put a months work into that too. Vattier st parties. Leading the KSU chant on top of Rusty’s after we beat KU on the road at Allen in 2006.

all my fondest memories from ksu cats u are either sports related or pelts.

fav sports memories from when i was a student was going to kc for the 03 pepper against OU, and being in attendance to watch beas and co beat ku was pretty neat.

Gosh I've spent probably an hour trying to find that post from that guy on GPC who talked about how his favorite memory from college was from his first weekend.  it went something like this:

It was our first weekend on campus and me and my bros went to aggieville and got really drunk and then on our way home we were walking by fast eddy's and I saw a gal pop a squat in the parking lot and start peeing.  she looked up at me as I was over on the sidewalk staring, and I had a big ear-to-ear smile.   I knew I was in for a fun four years.

So many great memories but the best has to be the time I saw a girl pop a squat and pee in the Fast Eddie's parking lot.

Ronald Reagan gave a Landon Lecture in Ahearn Fieldhouse in fall 1982.  I remember watching the Marine 1 swooping in and landing I think on the old football field.

I had no intention of going then last minute decided to get in line.  The line snaked around Seton Hall back towards the library.

In that line I was exposed to my first political protestors holding signs in front of Ahearn.  Very subdued by today's standards,  but it was my eye opener that not everyone was onboard with "USA!" or current administration and there were issues people were passionate about enough to speak out.

There was a father with an infant son holding a sign.  Ashamed to admit I don't recall exactly what his issue was but it was obvious his child had health issues and govt was not funding or supporting meds or treatment.  That has stuck with me.

Kind of the reality check that I had it  pretty darn good so it wouldn't hurt if I actually applied myself a little bit.

Summers in Manhattan as a student don't get enough love. I stayed 2.5 summers and freaking loved it, just a whole different vibe with a different group of people than you would normally hang out with.

Worked at bars/restaurants most of those summers and that's always a fun time. Imagine it's a Tuesday night in July before the home run derby, you and 10 deginerates draw names out of a hat and take a shot every time your guy blasts a HR.

yes, summers were incred. lot of nostalgia there for me. different group of friends. hanging with townie old people in aggieville and becoming buds with them. originally getting excited for and later years getting mad when it was country stampede time like a townie old person. summer classes were also very chill.

But also agree summers were probably the best. Working full time on campus got me enough extra cash to feel like I could finally afford Belfast’s at O’Malley’s. Also just ridiculous specials at the bars like $5 mixed drink pitchers and nonsense like that.

Related: walking home through campus after long Aggiville summer nights. One time unsuccessfully trying to hop a construction fence before my bud showed me there was a gap you could easily walk through. One time taking a quick 5 minute rest on a random campus bench at 2am to regain my strength for the rest of the journey.

Imagine 3 drunk bro's walking back from aggieville across the old stadium. One of the bros loves notre dame/rudy and asks if we can re-enact the scene where Rudy gets a sack.

I pretended to hike the ball, buddy came off the edge and "sacked" my other buddy about 2am in the middle of the old stadium. We carried him off the field on our shoulders chanting "RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!"

When we got back to our house one of our other friends was asleep so we re-enacted this scene

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY0LUIIwo8k

We just kept grabbing shirts off hangers in his closet and saying "Coach, I want Rudy to dress in my place" then put the shirt on his asleep body and grabbed another.

Damn, TKE bossed flag football in the 80's too? They kicked ass in the mid to late 90's too. My undefeated co-ed played theirs, I think they were matched up with the G-Phi's, anyway they beat us 98-13 in the playoffs.

Gotta echo the summer thing, the shitty weather notwithstanding.

I have so many amazing memories at K-State, honestly I had way too much fun, 6 years for that undergrad was let's say excessive. I loved my time more than anything. Things like #blackatkstate make me sad because there was nothing like that in my experience, I wish everyone could have the experience I did. I guess we can't all be blessed with having a school being led by Wefald and Bosco.

I lived at 9th and Bluemont for almost 3 years and yes I agree. Smashing whatever we got walking home from the bars was incred. Closing down Aggieville and then that weird standing in line phase, shoulder to shoulder, everyone just pak’d out of their minds. Man, COVID sucks lol

Summer in MHK was a totally different experience. It was way less busy but just so chill. What a time.

I loved walking home drunk

I always lived on the west side of campus & so did my younger brothers after I graduated. Walking home from Aggieville I always walked the whole south side of campus on top of the wall. I’m sure I always looked like an bad person.

They were on a 4-5 year undefeated streak at the time.  We scored first, and i thought you boys aren't all that.  That just made them mad.  I think we lost by 40+

I only did 1 summer in Manhattan and was so mad at myself afterwards, because I loved it so much, I wondered what I missed years prior to it.

Never did a summer because of farm stuff, but had friends who did.  Usually after hay was up would go up for a big 3 day weekend, crash on their apt floor.
