The PowerCat is used for all sports is all over the school and marketing. It is used by many highschools across the country.
Bad schools with no brand recognition change their logo (Tulane, Iowa State) to try and create a brand. The PowerCat is a brand that is recognized, it may not be the most recognized, but changing it will ruin any brand recognition and start from scratch again.
Yeah the PowerCat is one of the most recognizable logos in the country. Many colleges have gone to the power cat looking swept back look. Many high schools employ the logo. Why in the world would KState even think about changing it?
A couple of posts about how high schools love the logo. I suppose if it's good enough for high schools, might as well be good enough for us....

NOT QUITE RIGHT. Created by a sophomore at KSU and promptly stolen by Bill. Also, he gets five percent of powercat franchise fees to this and and after he leaves as coach. BTY, he also has signed agreement with KSU to be an advisor for 1/4 mil per year after he steps down. :th_twocents:

I saw this on the other form, but the discussion had been locked. My first question would be why? As someone alluded to in this thread and the other, teams that have to change their logo every so often are attempting to find one that fits.
If the reason for the change is because the logo/brand has become stale, what does that have to do with the program? Consider all of the blue blood programs Bama, OU, ND, USC, Auburn, LSU Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, Clemson..... Changing a logo that has become such an icon would be nonsense.
In saying that, I would not be opposed to creating an alternate uniform to break up the monotonous Dallas Cowboy look by going with a purple helmet and white powercat logo and maybe a single white stripe (or none) down the middle. For those who are unaware, K-State is one of a few schools that have a single school color (Royal Purple).

Again the why comes into play, which may or may not be so obvious. Sooner fans wanted to change their logo years ago hence the bring the wood uniforms and helmets. They only wear them once or twice a year. Oklahoma State started the Pistol Pete logo years ago, which looks atrocious in my opinion. I associate the Pokes with their iconic OSU emblem. Modifying the emblem over the years has been fine, but the school does not need to continue with the changes, for change sake.

Does the royal purple dot have an outline around it? On one hand, it could be nice to have on some cats gear. On the other hand, it seems a little flashy.

I know of kids who at one point liked KSU gear because they thought the powercat looked a little like a transformers logo. Keep it until any cross-promotion with bumblebee is exhausted?

I think we should create a royal coat of arms and incorporate the powercat, along with all of our other old logos, into it. We should also make a crown and royal garments for the coach of our best team, the king of our athletics, to wear during games. When the king gets usurped, there should be a huge ceremony in front of Anderson Hall to transfer power. After last year's Elite Eight run, Bill would have been forced to hand over the royal gear and kiss oscar's ring while all of the students chanted "hail king oscar!"
