Guys....there will be a BIG CHANGE on the sidelines this year....before the gates opened up to the public today we were using playcards to send in plays....I was so excited and I watched carefully to see if they would put them away before gates opened and they did. :billdance:

This IS very exciting!
IDEA: Let's video the sidelines and use Machine Learning to analyze and crack their play card code. Then, let's announce the plays BEFORE each snap via twitter. It will add a whole new level of entertainment to our fans!

Did anyone go to the fan appreciation day practice? I would very much appreciate any first-hand accounts.

They didn't use cards last year, and I knew what all the plays were going to be before they happened, and it wasn't that entertaining. :dunno:

Excellent point.

Anybody notice if individuals held out of practice, players missing or new faces from Fan Appreciation day?
-
Great idea: augmented reality visors in everyone's facemask. Has routes, snapcounts, etc. pre-loaded. No more worrying about learning the playbook. It's bulletproof, is what I'm saying here.

I went & didn't recall Mike McCoy practicing & this article confirms it:

Those cards aren't used to call plays by most teams. Usually they're a decoy or a cue to look at something/someone else.
-
I also found this article:

With Delton being named a Captain, can we assume he is QB1? Skylar is a co-captain, but Delton is the overall offense captain.
-
wasn't Joe Hubener a captain of some sort?
-
He's the older QB. I wouldn't read too much into it.
-
I am concerned we are entering another one of those frustrating periods where our best QB in practice is not our best QB in game-time situations.
-
I'm so... scared... :bawl:

Hey, preppy, why don't you shut the heck up?

:D Slater!

So nothing on Sullivan and McCoy not being at fan appreciation day? I'm assuming if it was really bad news we would have heard something. I hope.

I saw something on KSO about both. Sullivan - not awful news; McCoy - bad news.

Go on...

Sullivan should/could be back by MSU. Don't know the exact injury but sounds like an MCL sprain. (I think they feared it was a tear but came back ok). Mccoy, is more a question mark. It sounds like it is similar to what ailed him for the spring game. (head/neck area). Like, it's possible there could be something really bad, but they can't tell and don't think so. But at the same time don't want to risk it. I'm not really sure and I don't think they are either. Good friend is a high school coach with a former player or two on the team and he's good friends with their parents as well. That's all he had been told, or at least all he told me.

This thread is way less interesting than the SD PM thread from a year ago. Guys, we are less than 20 days away, it's OK to spill the beans on insider secrets at this point.
If you don't Riley rough ridin' Gates will probably do it.
-
Do we have any players who if they were lost for the year, it would matter?
-
duke shelley would hurt pretty bad

Thanks for the great information! I hope that both are able to recovery as our coordinators talked highly about both of them and this seems like their first season to be a starter / major contributor. Without McCoy we'd still have Barnes, Silmon and Warmack which gives plenty of time to make sure he is healed properly. Neck and head injuries are awful scary.
LB is a big concern without Sullivan. Sizelove and Hughes have some experience, but corps is awful thin. Perhaps Green or Walker will get some situational snaps? Hopefully Sullivan recovers quickly and can get back on the field.
