I was young when this happened so forgive the naive question. Was our schedule kind of pud? Like not KU Orange Bowl pud, but sort of pud?

Our non-con was pud city that year. Indiana State was 1-AA, Northern Illinois was awful, and NELA sort of had a pulse but not really.
-
The Big 12 was super stud back then. Nebraska had just won back to backs, OU would win it 2 years later, we were essentially national champs in 98
-
How many nfl pros did that team have? I assume it was a crap ton.
-
The interesting thing to keep in mind about those lopsided scores was we general played our backups in the second half
-
no need to guess who they had slotted at #1

we outscored out first nine opponents 472-69 for an average of 52.4-7.6. that's just absurd.

I bought that playboy at FF a few years back.

picked mine up at dara’s next to rickles

I went to the KU game that year. It was halloween and very rainy!
I made a sign that just had a big "bubble letter" number 7 on it written in purple marker. I didn't bother to fill it in all the way, but just did like zig zags on the inside. I'm sure from a distance of more than 10 feet it just looked like a white sign.

‘clams was what, ~6 months old, and he was already walking and buying nudey magazines. Probably smoked a heater as soon as he left the store too.

-
Missouri game was terrifying, effing Korby Jones.
Texas game was like holy crap, did that just happen

Was also at rainy Halloween game @ KU! That's pretty much all I remember :billdance:

I have a great Mizzou story but will hold it

I was at my Great Aunt Nelly's with my Grandma in Chicago for the Big 12 Championship game (I was in 8th grade) and I cried my eyes out. Aunt Nelly couldn't understand- 1. Why we'd watch a channel that had Bob Costas on it (eff that lib(?), right?) and 2. why I got so emotional over the game. My grandma had to put her in her place.
-
Stevesie was showing off this issue a month or so ago at his house. Was a little weird.

How was Bob Costas involved with a game that was on ABC? Was your Great Aunt Nelly starting to lose it?? :frown:
-
Probably. She just passed away about a week ago. He wasn't doing pre game? For some reason I just remember his name keep getting brought up. Maybe I said I liked him or something when she was asking me why I love sports.
-
Maybe we were flipping channels? What channel was the Ucla and Miami game on that day?
-
CBS I believe

:D I don't think she watched much sports. She probably brought it up off hand.

Texas game was like holy crap, did that just happen
Was just a complete dismantling. If anyone thought we got in Geno Smith's head, that was patty cake compared to Ricky Williams that day.
Is this the game we ran - and recovered - an onside kick after our first score, or perhaps coming out of half?

This Bob Costas thing is a real mystery. I'm going to go with that Aunt Nelly didn't know a lot about sports, so she just brought up the only person she knew, who she really hated for some crazy reason (probably Rush Limbaugh told her to hate him). Either way, Aunt Nelly, stfu about Bob, My soul is currently being crushed.

I was at fox and hound in Dallas..... I got thrown out at the end of the game because I gave 75% of the bar crap when we were kicking their ass...when they came back I was out numbered and had to take their crap. I didn't handle well... I had called to make reservations for the National Championship.. I, I, I, still haven't forgiven Bishop... Sorry. :curse: (ftp://:curse:)

The rankings of our opponents are listed in the op, and those margin of victories are all basically half time scores
-
scoring 100 was easily on the table in all the non cons

Onside kick is right at the 35:00 mark for those who are interested.
-
I had completely forgotten we burned 2 redshirts that game... And on consecutive possessions.
-
Jackyl played in the middle of Aggieville the night of the UT game. They were on a Guiness Book 2 shows per day for 60 days record or something.
-
Hey guys remember this thread? 'Member all the good feelings and how just thinking of 1998 puts a big smile on your face and how much hope and optimism there is at the beginning of a brand new KSU Cats football season?? Yeah me too man, me too.
20 years ago we were ranked #2 and about to beat Nebraska for the first time in roughly 600 years. I could barely sleep the night before that game because I was so excited. Fast forward to today and now we're pretty darn sure we can beat KU but at the same time glad it's a home game!

living in Iowa City in 98.....watched the championship game.....was a smoker at the time and my apartment was ground floor......was watching through the glass, stepped on the cigarette butt and by the time i walked back into the apartment, Bishop fumbled.....it all went bad from there.........20 years later i have never watched the replay, just too painful.......i honestly may go to my grave with this unresolved pain :Crybaby:
