2017 Season
-went 8-4, 4-4 in regular season, won bowl game vs louisville. V good season for them (4th best all time), good job guys!
-1 quality win (LSU, a team that lost to TROY)
-got absolutely SMASHED by Georgia and Auburn
-moral victory vs Bama
-lost to a very mediocre Ole Miss (yes there are 2 schools in Mississippi, I just discovered this!)
-basically were ranked because they played in a league with Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn, who they lost to a combined 111-37
-won by 11 vs UMASS, and by 7 vs a 4-8 Arkansas

As we HFBIQ posters know, the SEC has 2 or 3 legit teams a year, with a whole bunch of pretenders that benefit from the association. Ole Miss St is no exception. They've never been that good, even when they had Dak they couldn't break through. Now they have a new coach and expect to be better than ever... :jerk:

2018 Forecast/Game Predicto:
They're supposed to be pretty good according to "experts", return a bunch, strong lines, but a new coach/system. Should build on a "strong" season ( :confused: see above). They pretty much think we're trash bc our rivals rankings suck, literally the only thing their fans know or care about. We have new coordinators, new special teams, and replace over 1/2 our defense. On the plus our O should b v good, and we play at home, at 11am, a good time traditionally for LHCBS.

Here's my take: we crap the bed last year against Vandy. We didn't implode but it shut the door early on a good season. Ole Miss St on the other hand dominated LSU around the same time and from there finished the season with one more win. These teams are comparable, but their perceptions hinged on those early season games. IMO this game comes down to: how good is our D? We lose both starting LB, DJamer, and GearBear. We were horrible against the pass. Will the new, more athletic LB duo and new, hopefully more aggressive coordinators improve our D? Or do we continue to sacrifice the secondary to stop the run at all costs? Really should be a great game.

cats by 10 probably, might be close as our D "tunes up" and special teams starts to "click"

Miami is the better program, but we probably won't be as good as we were in 2012, so all signs point to a similar score, with some goofy trick play at the goal line wrinkled in there somewhere.

Maybe that's what a "real" football team looks like in the SEC, but here in the Big 12, we actually have standards for our student athletes.

Personally, I'm slightly worried we're overlooking this game to prepare for the round-robin gauntlet of the Big 12. Assuming that happens, it's a hugeadvantage for MSU. K-State 37 MSU 10.

1. ole miss st is the 3rd worst team in SEC history, with less accomplishments than KSU even with our horrible history
2. you lost to the only 3 good teams on your schedule last year 111-37

Just looked at Stubhub 5 minutes ago - tickets for East Dakota or whoever are as low as $23 and Mississippi State is at $21. The free market has spoken, and some random directional school is more desirable than Mississippi State.

2017 Season
-went 8-4, 4-4 in regular season, won bowl game vs louisville. V good season for them (4th best all time), good job guys!
-1 quality win (LSU, a team that lost to TROY)
-got absolutely SMASHED by Georgia and Auburn
-moral victory vs Bama
-lost to a very mediocre Ole Miss (yes there are 2 schools in Mississippi, I just discovered this!)
-basically were ranked because they played in a league with Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn, who they lost to a combined 111-37
-won by 11 vs UMASS, and by 7 vs a 4-8 Arkansas

As we HFBIQ posters know, the SEC has 2 or 3 legit teams a year, with a whole bunch of pretenders that benefit from the association. Ole Miss St is no exception. They've never been that good, even when they had Dak they couldn't break through. Now they have a new coach and expect to be better than ever... :jerk:

2018 Forecast/Game Predicto:
They're supposed to be pretty good according to "experts", return a bunch, strong lines, but a new coach/system. Should build on a "strong" season ( :confused: see above). We have new coordinators, new special teams, and replace over 1/2 our defense. On the plus our O should b v good, and we play at home, at 11am, a good time traditionally for LHCBS.

Here's my take: we crap the bed last year against Vandy. We didn't implode but it shut the door early on a good season. Ole Miss St on the other hand dominated LSU around the same time and from there finished the season with one more win. These teams are comparable, but their perceptions hinged on those early season games. IMO this game comes down to: how good is our D? We lose both starting LB, DJamer, and GearBear. We were horrible against the pass. Will the new, more athletic LB duo and new, hopefully more aggressive coordinators improve our D? Or do we continue to sacrifice the secondary to stop the run at all costs? Really should be a great game.

cats by 10 probably, might be close as our D "tunes up" and special teams starts to "click"
